Just had lunch at Taco Mex. Great atmosphere - bright and colorful decor. Soccer on every tv! Loved it. Ordered the breakfast burrito and it was delicious and priced just right ($7) for the size. Go somewhere else, the food sometimes is good but the last 3 times we went there the food was not good at all, also very expensive, $15.00 for rice , beans and a small beef , if you complain about something wrong on your order they will never apologize .The owner is always inside of bar paying attention on everyone in the restaurant, he never smile or say hi to anyone. This was my second time visiting Taco Mex and i only went back because the food is amazing. First time i went it was back in April and my second time this weekend. The only reason why I'm giving two starts is because of their staff and their service hasn't been the best. First time I did not take the time to do the review because it was my first time and even thought i was not pleased with the service the girl provided me, the food made me forget about such careless staff they have. A place with such great and delicious should care also about the service their staff provides. This weekend not only i was served by a girl (Vanesa) who was the entire time on her smart watch but she also took like 30 minutes to bring my tab after i asked for it. I guess i will be missing the fish tacos from there :( not going back again! read more

This is a small local restaurant! It is very casual but the food here is amazing!!! If you like Mexican food this is the best I ever tried and very good prices!!! I recommend the fish tacos!!!!! The burritos are popular too!! I hope this helps other people!!!! read more

This is the worst place to get Latino food in east Boston. PERIOD. My friends and I, a group of 4, entered the restaurant ready to eat good food. When we ordered the waitress took our order but didn't have a note pad in front of her and we made sure we were very specific with her. Somehow, she got our drinks right but 3/4 of the plates that we ordered were completely wrong. My friend had to send back her fried fish because it literally had no seasoning. My shrimp tacos were drenched with thousand island sauce and 3 shrimps per taco, we were outraged, but still we ate our food due to the fact we were hungry. Lastly at the end of the night when we received the bill they charged us 17% tip for a 4 top at 10 pm. I became even more outraged because if you want me to pay 17% tip at least get our order right! I cannot believe a restaurant would treat their customers like this. I would never go back to this place ever again and I suggest going to other local spots for more authentic taste. read more

I have been there a few times. The food is very good most of the time. My girlfriend and I walked in and sat, we were not greeted. Waited patiently for the waitresses to greet us and give us menus; the waitresses looked at us, however they did not. Two other couples came in 5 minutes after us, the received greetings and menus. The servers clearly saw us getting up and leaving with a bad taste in our mouths; as they did not even try to apologize or do anything about it. The good food isn't worth very bad service. We will never set foot in their establishment again. read more

I've ordered takeout from here twice, and both times it was pretty good. The quesadilla I got was excellent; the taco salad was decent. This place is ok. I have been there a few times. Not the best, not the worst. I like Taqueria Cancun better which is in the same square. Whenever I go in this place I get leered at and it creeps me out. The mango juice with milk is really good. The food is average. I agree that it isnt really mexican, more central american, and the spices arent quite right. read more

not crazy for Mexican/salvadorean food but if you are looking for good pupusas this is the spot for them. I've tried pupusas at other eatery they are either not stuffed with enough filling or tortilla is just to stiff and overwhelming. They said they could no longer serve it because their owner wouldn't let them anymore. I asked to speak to owner--he's out of country. I went to Taco Mex with some friends to celebrate the holidays after a long day at work. very cozy spot where they serve the Best Margaronas...mmmm! Restaurant was busy and we wait about 4 minutes to be seated by the window overlooking Maverick Sq.
