    birria pork burnt ends
    Megan Y.

This is one of the basement food stalls located in the Fareground Food Hall in Downtown. We were craving breakfast tacos, so here we found ourselves. There was no line & you order through a self-service kiosk. I got the birria & pork burnt ends tacos. Both were surprisingly delicious, not too soggy or dry! My date got the carne asada tacos, I didn't taste any. Food came out within 10-15 minutes. No comments other than I always feel bad not finishing the rest of the consomme tub Overall, having come from Atlanta - which arguably now is a "city of food halls" with new ones opening every couple of months, I believe Austin has more growing to do in this space. Fareground seemed kind of dead despite the fancy seating. It could also be more busy on weekdays when people are in offices for work, though. One stall neighboring Taco Pegaso actually closed (according to my date). I think Taco Pegaso's staff is quite entrepreneurial, having set up a tent upstairs next to the regular long lines of Desnudo Coffee.

I usually go to Yoga at the Faregrounds on Sunday and always pass by the Taco Pegaso outdoor taco stand where I see them preparing fresh breakfast tacos from scratch on the outdoor flattop. I have always wanted to stop and try one and so glad that I did. The price point for their tacos are a bit high, but you can watch the employees make the tacos right in front of you. You wait in line to place your order. They have a selection of breakfast taco options to choose from. I ordered the egg, bacon and cheese breakfast taco on a flour tortilla. You have an option to choose from corn or flour tortillas. The tacos are prepared to order and then they call your name when ready to pick up. They have a verde and red salsa. There is outdoor seating in the plaza where you can enjoy eating your tacos. They have a generous portion of ingredients in the taco and one was very filling. I hope to come back next Sunday and try other tacos!

Yummy tacos inside Fareground! Keep your receipt, you can use it to validate parking in the garage. Birria taco is nice. Love the sauce that comes with it. There's a good cheese pull too! Can't remember the other taco I got...it might be al pastor. Also yummy! It has pineapple on top

Nice little spot at the Fareground food court. You order at an iPad & get a text when your order is ready--totally contact-free. There's plenty of seating inside & out & they had an inflatable screen outside playing football on a Sunday. Seemed like a great place to eat & hang out. The birria tacos were pretty good but the chips were delicious--thick & bubbly. The queso was nothing special, I want to try the salsa next time.

Started eating before I even thought about a picture because it looked so good! I got the mani mahi bowl and my boyfriend got the beef and chorizo burger! We saw it being made fresh after ordering on the tablet and it was so good! Definitely exceeded our expectations! It definitely stood out to us in the food hall and I'm glad we picked to grab food there! I loved being able to watch the cook in the open kitchen too!

Ordered the Carne Asada torta from Taco Pegaso for lunch at work--came loaded with refried beans, melted Oaxaca cheese, guac, onion, tomato, shredded lettuce, chipotle mayo, all on a bolillo roll. Look, I respect the ambition... but it was doing way too much. The carne asada got buried under all that extra. Gave it a 4 out of 10. Not mad, just not my vibe. I wouldn't order this version again, but I'm not writing the place off--I'd still give Taco Pegaso another shot with something a little more straightforward. Delivery was smooth though, no issues there.

Overall: 3.9/5 [take out] We came across this stand right next to the Desnudo Cafe truck while waiting for our coffee and decided to try a breakfast taco. We ordered the New York Texan without cheese on a flour tortilla ($4.50). It was freshly made, packed with protein, and you could tell the cook was passionate about his craft by the way he tapped the food. They provided two spicy sauces (red and green) with our order, which added great flavor, especially since we skipped the cheese. Overall, it was good--something I'd happily get again if I'm in the area, though not extraordinary enough to go out of my way for.

Went for a quick lunch. Was our first time at fairground and they have few food options. Spotted Taco Pegaso and so we ordered carne asada quesadilla. The flavors were on point, the meat was tender. Next time will ask them to add everything inside since they do put it in small containers like the sour cream and guac. For a quick lunch spot, recommend this spot.

It's pretty fast. I was there in a large group so it made sense that it took a little. You order on the iPads and don't have to interact with the staff. I will say it was a little complicated to order on the iPads and there were a lot of options. There is not a ton of seating inside especially around lunch time. I got a quesadilla it was great. Nice place highly recommend.

Was located inside of a building with a few other food options and a bar. Kind of like a mini food court. You order on a tablet which was kind of cool because you can see the food that you are ordering and see all of the extra items that you can add on. The customer service was good, they send you a text when your order is ready. The steak taco was amazing, the steak was fresh and juicy, they cook the food right in-front of you so you know that it's fresh. The Birria tacos were amazing as well, some of the best that I have had in central Texas, I just wish that it came with 3 instead of 2.

Service was quick and the Crunchwrap did not disappoint! Very filling and delicious. Both aquas frescas were refreshing! Food hall was clean and much needed break from Austin summer heat. Green salsa had a nice kick.

I had some questions about the menu but couldn't get anyone's attention so we just ordered at the iPad. The food was muh, the TacoDeli down the street is better and it was so over priced!! If we ever come back I'll grab something from the Venezuelan place!

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, I decided to check out Fareground, and try something from each stall. I was so excited to try Taco Pegaso. You can luckily get flour or corn tortillas (I don't care for the corn tortillas). I ordered via the kiosk and ordered Al la carte, which was perfect for how I was eating that afternoon. I ordered the brisket taco on a flour tortilla and it was absolutely delicious. I should have ordered 2. The service was good. Definitely a must go back to.

There are several salsa options, and drinks include Mexican Cokes and horchata, among others. We ended up getting two tacos (pastor and carne asada), a nopales quesadilla, and an order of chips and guac. At $5 to $6 a taco, this wasn't cheap despite the no-frills surroundings, but it was well worth it. Everything looked and tasted fresh and smelled amazing. D/10 is known for its pastor, and it's easy to see why. Served in strips rather than chunks, it boasts a crisp edge and a nice bit of pineapple flavor.
