The first time here and tried a lot of different things. In the restaurant, we were the only clients. That for me was not a good sign. They are kind of new, but our server was okay and she tried to explain to the best of her knowledge the menu. They brought a bottle of water which allegedly was reverse osmosis and It cost $9 (but the first bottle is complementary). Their bar is limited to sangria which is more of a fruit apple/blueberry spritzer than a sangria., wine, and beer. The drink was not great. *Appetizers, we shared the charred octopus it had good flavor and the plate had a good presentation appealing to the eye as well as being tender. also had the Tostones with pork belly guacamole not a lot of pork belly in it but it was good. we also ordered the French onion soup was horrible it tasted bad, and the bread was burnt giving the soup a bitter taste it also had too much onion to the ratio of the bowl it came in with hardly any broth. *Main course we had a few dishes we shared the* spice mango and chili ribs it was ok but not spicy at all, accompanied with broccoli the broccoli was overcooked, and Mac & Cheese which was creamy.. *We also ordered the Pork belly bao buns which where more buns than pork belly left a lot to desire the pickled cabbage on the bao buns was good but it's more a pickled cabbage bao bun than a pork belly bao bun.. *The last dish we had was the Top 17 burger and parmesan fries which were juicy and cooked as requested nothing special, parmesan fries were just fries with parmesan sprinkled over them. For dessert, we had the Nutella-filled chocolate chip cookie with ice cream and it was too sweet for my taste. Overall the food was okay and it's a restaurant I would not come back to or recommend. Reply: not everyone takes criticism well as this business owner. I take in consideration a lot of things and this was my thought and taste of the food not everyone is the same and I'm happy your clientele likes the onion soup but charred is one thing and burned is another and I could go on.. Came in for the first time on a Saturday afternoon and tried a lot of different things. The restaurant was COMPLETELY empty while we were there with exception of a few Uber/DoorDash pick up which was a major red flag. I know they are somewhat new but not that new. We also had the bao buns which left a lot to desire but not terrible, I did like the pickle cabbage. And finally the top 17 burgers which was delicious, juicy and cooked to perfection. WOW! OUTSTANDING! While this place might not look like much from the outside, the food is excellent! As locals, we have been looking for a reasonably priced place that has down right good Mexican food. This place is fantastic!!! We ordered the Southwestern roll (very different) Birria burrito, steak Chimichurri tacos and enchiladas. They were all AMAZING. The loaded Churros were also fantastic and I am not a Churro fan. Since the restaurant was empty when we arrived, we were a bit skeptical. Honestly, we almost left.... But that would have been a BIG mistake! We stumbled upon this place when looking for a place to eat while we had our car worked on near by. And I have to say, we were pleasantly surprised! The food was amazing! I looked forward to this Top 17 Urban Kitchen opening for quite some time and I finally got a chance to try it. Service was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Daniella works the bar and the floor with a friendly confidence that made me feel welcome and special. The basket of bread was fresh, warm, and just the right size for sharing without getting stuffed, accompanied by a couple of infused butters - one garlic, herb, and olive oil and the other salted caramel. Both were delicious and balanced each other nicely. Ordered the French onion soup to start. Good sized cup, more like a bowl. Fresh, crusty bread and plenty of caramelized onions highlight the soup. Just the right amount of cheese to last to the last bite. With such a diverse yet practiced menu, I took the recommendation for the pork belly bao buns. Lovely plating with a generous amount of meat was my first impression. Soft, sweet bun wraps a fat piece of pork belly with pickled cabbage on top. Good mix of sweet, salty, tangy with a low-key warmth from the sriracha aioli. Decent crowd for a Tuesday. My greatest regret is that I don't eat at Top 17 more often. And this is 100% my fault as I sometimes get too busy at work I forget this gem exists. But then, I go and I remember why it is such an amazing place that goes beyond just food. I have dined in, done take away and used delivery apps for this restaurant so I am about to review them all. My dine in experience has been an excellent one and the people, vibes and food are worth the time to sit down and eat. Empty, busy, or half full, I don't know why that is even a reason to judge a business but whatever capacity it was in all three things I mentioned earlier were on point. I went to many full places before with bad service and subpar food. So for me, I really don't care. I want to eat and enjoy my time. We have had several dishes at Top 17 which were absolutely worth more than the ticketed price. You feel like you're getting a fine dining experience without fine dining portions and all the frou frou. You feel the love going into these dishes and the thoughtfulness put into the meals. From the bread and special butters, you realize quickly that Top 17 genuinely cares about the customer experience. I am madly addicted to their ribs and have since had them every time I order from Top 17. So duh I like those. But I cannot say more about the tostones with guac, the lobster roll (!!!) and their shareable platters. Even their simplest burger makes me happy. I have ordered several (which I call my Sunday burgers) and they arrive FAST and intact. I don't feel you understand what I mean when I say intact but the thing arrives with the fries still crispy. Again, someone has taken the time to think about soggy versus crispy fries and actually cared to do something about it. My goal is to eat my way through this menu. And yes, I will belabor Yelp etc with reviews because people find time to write mean things and somehow that matters. So I will write my honest review as always per everything I eat and if I have nothing good to say, guess what, there may be no review! Because I can't do what chefs do and far be it from me to be an a**. But so far so good. Loved it so far Top 17, so you get a nice review. I hope to make it to brunch soon! read more

We did not have a good experience unfortunately. Place was empty we were the only people dining in. We ordered arancini for an app, entrees we went with the pasta and bao buns. There were a couple of to go orders that came out but after over a half hour wait nobody checked on us and then finally the server came out with the entrees. They never put the appetizer in, the bao buns were average and the pasta was a nice looking plate but was a little bland. Server was a nice guy but must have been brand new, it was pretty frustrating to be the only table and then a long wait only for the order to be missing an item. read more

Wow - the food is just as bad as the previous colombian restaurant that was previously in the same location. You have to change the oil all the fried food taste like old oil. The chicken flautas had no chicken, but an old small piece of chicken skin really ridiculous. The corn in the flautas was old and brown and had a strange taste. We lived right by the original Taco Rico location in Coral Gables for years and it was one of our favorite joints. After moving to Hollywood a few years ago, we missed having great Tex Mex, so we were thrilled when Taco Rico opened their Hollywood location. Unfortunately, a few of the things that made the original great are missing. One was their salsa bar, with a variety of really great salsas. In the Hollywood location, all you get are two tepid offerings in the plastic cups brought to your table by the server. Another was the pibil - not on the menu in Hollywood, but they almost made up with it by having Birria, except the dipping jus was bland. First, I WANT TO COME BACK! The pork belly bao buns were fantastic! And the chocolate budino was to die for! But, keeping in mind I DO WANT TO COME BACK ... I wanted to love the roast marrow and beef tatare. Using the thin slice of grilled bread as a base to scoop it on, I was starting to like it. When I asked for more bread, the server checked with the chef and returned to say another slice would be $2. Really? There's no excuse for not providing enough bread to finish the dish. While I hope there will be full bar service at some point, I would have been happy if you served decent wine, especially at $9 a glass. Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay were barely airline quality. After a few sips, they were drinkable but did nothing to complement the food. Why not serve Albariño? An Italian Pinot? I would have paid more for a glass of one of those. This restaurant is a rare gem in an unexpected location. I am in Hollywood often to visit my mother in Independent Living, and this is my new food spot. Each dish was unique and deliciously full of amazing flavors, pleasing the eye. We had the ROASTED BONE MARROW AND BEEF TARTARE, which was outstanding; the much recommended GRILLED OCTOPUS, which did not disappoint; the FISH CRUDO, light and fresh; and the TOP 17 HOUSE SALAD. Chef Mauricio is a master chef. He prepared each dish with love, creativity, and a delicious blend of fresh ingredients. Additionally, the lovely Daniella greeted us and took special care of our every need with a smile.
