Visited for the first time this evening and loved it! Sat at the bar and talked with the really friendly and helpful waitstaff/bar tenders. There was music playing, but not nearly as loud as some of the other places, so it was very nice to sit and talk with the person I was with. The happy hour drink and food specials are great and go on until 7pm every day! Once our food arrived, we were completely sold. We got 4 different tacos and all were wonderful! Very full tacos with lots of flavor. All the meats were juicy and delicious and the pico and corn salsas were obviously fresh and full of color and flavor. We will definitely be back!! read more

Solid addition to the Oakton area. Overall I appreciate the variety of food and I'd go there again. Food: A- We got a few different tacos: smash burger, colonel sanders, one with pork belly and another one with fried shrimp. The taco shell was unique and tasty. Softer than most corn tortillas I've experienced. They were all delicious and with the exception of the burger one, I would order again. My daughter had the burger one and it's a little too unwieldy for a taco. It wasn't bad just not very special. We also got the chicken quesadilla, which exceeded my expectations. Flavorful chicken inside. The fried rice can be skipped. Pretty salty and spicy but lacking much other flavor. Ambience: B I think it's just ok. Clean--the busboy immediately cleaned tables as they were available. It felt like more of a bar and not so much a restaurant. I just felt like it could have more charm. Been meaning to try this place since they opened and finally stopped in today. We had: rockfish, key west grouper, ahi tuna, blackened salmon and fried avocado tacos. Loved them all. Tomatillo salsa was yummy. Habanero salsa is not for the faint of heart! Very spicy! My husband loved the key west grouper tacos so much that we got 3 to go. We went on the first night they were open so I'm definitely excited to go back again and try! Service was pretty quick especially for it being their first night. You order on an iPad at the front and then sit wherever and take a buzzer. It was bustling and I had no idea it was their first night open. came in today first of all it's a beautiful bar and I was greeted with great service. We placed a large order and they packaged so convient. I also had numerous offers of being helped my car with the takeout. everybody was so helpful. The food was excellent. The bar manager help me pick a little bit of everything. She was so helpful. Compared to the Alexandria location this location is subpar. The food I ordered took a lot Longer than expected, and the wait for my drink was even longer. The bartender seemed overwhelmed but there was only 6 people at the bar including myself. Still a cool location that's worth the visit. read more

I've been to the Rosslyn location plenty of times, so i can tell the vibe and design is the same here and there. Which to me is great because i like consistency and I have consistently had a great time at Taco Rock. Happy to have another one so close to home. The Oakton Taco Rock deserves a ZERO STAR rating. The enormous screens on the wall showed such vulgar videos including many scenes of drugs, sex, and prostitution tonight. While this restaurant does have a bar, it is also designed to cater to families at 7pm on a Sunday evening. Our large group (high school sports end-of-season banquet) was the only group there tonight, and yet when I asked if they would change the videos or pause or turn off the screens altogether, they said "no". I talked to two employees about it. If you would like to enjoy dinner with your family or host families for a school event, I would highly reconsider. Find another place with a more family friendly atmosphere. Many parents were upset tonight, and Oakton Taco Rock has definitely lost my business! read more

First time eating at Taco Rock. Sat at the bar and had drinks and dinner. Partner had the Coco Loco and I had the "she's a very tiki girl". Both were great drinks. Mine came in tiki shaped glass and the salt rim was an interesting but awesome flavor. We had the blue chips and salsa which were delicious. Veggie fajitas and shrimp and grouper tacos were very tasty. So was the beans and rice. Due to two drinks each, our bill was about $100 before tip so we will have to save this place for special nights. Oakton has long been a restaurant desert, with only fast food options and a couple of mediocre eateries. Taco Rock is a welcome newcomer. We watched and waited months for when it would open. For various personal reasons, takeout is our easiest option, although the cool bar area, its back to the street and facing inside, made us long to be there eating, and looking out. On Sunday, we ordered takeout for three people, one of whom is vegetarian. We got the chicken adobo burrito, the puffy beef taco, loaded carnitas taco, birria taco, grouper taco, and pork belly taco for the meat eaters. For the vegetarian, we got the fried avocado taco and the balsamic mushroom taco. We got two orders of elote because we love elote, and the vegetarian got Mexican yellow rice, and black beans. We also got the puffy chips and guacamole, and for me, the breakfast burrito. The food was ready within 15 minutes, we came in to pick it up and the process was super easy. The vegetarian thought they had had better elote elsewhere, but I loved it. In the end, we enjoyed everything we had, it was beyond great. Many stars and thumbs up. I had the breakfast burrito this morning, as good as anything in New Mexico. Plus, I love the blue corn tortillas, makes me think I am in New Mexico. Recently opened in Oakton....you place your order on terminals to the right as you walk in the door. I totally missed that when I went in because there was no signage to direct first time customers. That is my only criticism. There are pagers located there as well as menus. Once you place your order, you process your payment and have the option to print, text or email the receipt. I had the Smash Burger taco. I highly recommend it. I was happy with the portion size because I can't eat a lot at one sitting. Even though it seemed small, I could barely finish all of it so the portion size was misleading. They have a large selection and the service is quick. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
