I had to share our recent experience at Taco Rosa in Irvine. We were a party of four and visited for dinner last night. We quickly realized how amazing this restaurant is now! (we tried it 2 years ago and were not happy with the reception from the manager or feeling rushed) But, things have changed. This is definitely a 5 STAR establishment in every way. Our food was perfection, our margaritas were the best we've ever had and the desserts we tried were freshly prepared and served with a beautiful presentation. In addition to the excellent cuisine there seems to be a change in hospitality. Handsome Chef Ivan made the rounds and stopped and chatted with us, we were treated with friendliness and felt so welcome. Taco Rosa is by far the BEST around!!! Thank you Chef Ivan for your gracious hospitality and for off the charts cuisine. We will be back on a regular basis and our friends who are from Santa Barbara suggest you open a location near them!!!! The restaurant is decorated beautifully, the staff is very prompt and cordial, the dishes are presented well, and the drinks are wonderful. But, a restaurant is primarily about food and only secondarily about decor, service, and drinks. I refused to eat the carne asada or the salmon as they were dry, overcooked, and completely unseasoned. Perhaps the cook was bad that day, but the manager swore the meals were superbly prepared. He would have been better served if he had sampled the cook's work instead of staking the restaurant's reputation on sub-par dishes. I've had 5 peso carne asada at stands on the streets of Tijuana that blow this place away, and no one eating such food would be under the impression that it was high quality. I've had salmon at Chili's that was better prepared than the dish we ordered (not a compliment). You can eat better cooked and seasoned dishes for at least half the cost in Santa Ana or Costa Mesa, unless the ambiance and cocktails distract your taste buds. read more

Jidori chicken on the menu, this is amazing... I ordered the Pollo en Mole for that reason and it was tasty and I felt at ease knowing that the meat was free of antibiotics. The mole was rich but not too sweet. Perhaps the best mole I have tasted, even better than what I have found after 8 months of living in central Mexico. I am very particular about my margaritas. I like a top shelf, Herradura Reposado with no nasty triple sec, but with Cuantro instead. If you want to go classy, this margarita is not cheap though it will give you a good buzz. However, what makes Taco Rosa's margaritas so tasty, and compatible with a top shelf tequila is that Taco Rosa's margaritas are made with fresh fruit juices, sweetened with organic agave nectar. I came back to Taco Rosa three times on my visit this week to Orange County. Great food, great drinks, great people... I am coming back on my next visit to the OC. read more

My father, daughter and I went to Taco Rosa last week for the first time and it was so wonderful! My daughter was visiting from New York and she was in the mood for Mexican food, so we decided to try this place and I'm so happy we did! The food was really yummy and flavorful... and the atmosphere was just lovely. Our waiter Samuel was really terrific...he was upbeat, professional, extremely personable and super fun! We were so delighted with our meal and our server that we called over the Manager, Rueben to let him know, and he was truly a wonderful, humble man who appreciated our comments and knew how lucky he was to have someone like Samuel on his team. Our experience here was so amazing that we will definitely be coming back! It's a fancy looking Mexican restaurant to my eyes. I Visited this place yesterday. It was 3rd visit . I would give 3.5 stars if I could for the first 2 visits, but yesterday, it was a bit worse. I enjoyed Tacos. They were tasty. But they made dollar tacos a bit too small. I wouldn't complain about it too much. It was Taco Tuesday, tacos are cheap, they wouldn't make them as they do on regular days. What I didn't care too much about this place was they didn't refill soda for us. It's not that they refused but they didn't ask if we want a soda refill. When I go to restaurant, I expect servers refill or ask if we want it before we ask. Oh, what I would avoid next time if I have to visit again is Seviche Rosa. Sauce tasted fine, but fish in it was fishy. It was not just fishy, but it was "spoiled fishy". read more

En el patio había 3 mesas desocupadas desde que llegamos y a los 45 minutos nos hizo el "Favor" de darnos una de ellas. No entiendo si Rubí piensa que el Restaurant está pagando de su bolsillo o lo que le pagan es producto de lo que los clientes dejamos ahí, Muy mala actitud y despota par estar en la puerta, ojalá y el dueño tome en cuenta esto, ya que es muy desagradable ir a comer y anda entrada hacer estos corajes. the worst service ever we had a party of 7 people they gave me my table and the rude ass manager kept asking for the other table. we told him we were still waiting for the rest of the group. Finally the rest of our party got there. we got a little loud laughing after a long day at work the last thing we needed was a rude ass manager to go over. He told us we need it to be quiet. We paid the bill and left the place. The saddest thing is that this manager is an hispanic lame poor man who thinks he is the shit. Pretty much one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever been to. I'm Mexican, I've been eating Mexican food my whole life, I've been around Mexico, and I still think this is some of the best food. Hopefully my experience wasn't abnormal 'cause our waiter was cool, the food was piping hot, and the meal was tasty. You got t.v.s on the wall, great home-made tortillas, and one of my favorite dishes (carnitas pibil) - rivaled only by it's counterpart in Cancun where I had that dish first! I had lunch here today and it was alright. The waiter was very nice, he notice that our table was a bit small for all of our plates so he suggested to get the next table and push it together so we have more room. That was very nice of him, not many servers will do that unless customers ask them to. Food was ok we ordered guac n chips, was greeted with a corn cake thing, and I had the tacos de filete. Those tacos were pretty good, I didn't care for the melted brie though. Why did they chef use a French cheese instead of a Mexican cheese to top off my tacos? When my brother from Amsterdam came for Vacations we took him to this place for some dinner and margaritas, and the server ask us for id and we all were 25 and up and my brother who is 36 showed up his passport - the server didnt believe he was from amsterdam and then he also showed him 2 id's from europe and some euros and pounds(europe money) and the server said that everything was fake and he was insisting that he need it to see a CA id after we told him that my brother wasnt from here, so we all got mad and we left, i can believe that they cant sell alcohol to tourist cuz they only serve alcohol to ppl with USA id ..... thats bullshit read more

Brunch was awesome. Better than El Torrito. They have a live Mariachi that greets u while u are seated. Adults $17. Champagne, coffee soft drinks are included. I had an veggie ommolete w big chunks of fresh avocado and cheese. Red chile carne, fresh pancakes, pulled pork chilaquiles, cheese enchilada, jicama salad, herb salad w green cilantro dressing, coffee, chocolate covered strawberrys, churros. Oh and mimosas. The restrooms are clean Staff attaintive and friendly. There was no wait when we arrived at 1230. They end brunch at 130 but people were still enjoing it passed 2pm. When you think of taco Rosa, you can't help but remember the delightful flavors of their crab tacos; when you get to taco Rosa you expect a beautiful dining room and and authentic experience and flavors that will tantalize the palate. My most recent visit to taco Rosa was disappointing to say the least; The food was bland and all the flavor notes were the same. All you taste is generic oily greasy flavors On a bed of rice and beans. The service was absolutely underwhelming, with our food arriving late and server seldom checking On our table. The Irvine location was a big disappointment. Our server was Jessica; she was lazy, did not know the menu, disappeared for long periods of time, and was unable to make a simple request from a carne asada taco to a chicken taco. It took her 30 minutes to bring our drinks, and they were so sweet we had to sent them back. The food was ok, may have been better if it wasn't cold by the time it arrived. It is a decent-sized, nicely decorated place at the Tustin Marketplace. I have been here a few times for their happy hour, which is 3pm-6pm Monday through Thursday. For happy hour, they offer 50% off almost half of their menu and their beer and margaritas is included in the happy hour. They have a quite decent selection on their menu. Their chips and salsa are so fresh and delicious! I normally order their Mole Chicken Enchiladas but I have had their Lobster tacos as well. Both are YUM :) Their servers are real friendly. I went there today during taco Tuesday and sat at the bar outside. Asked the server about the blackened chicken, calamari or shrimp in the taco Tuesday menu that was priced $8. I asked for the calamari, and got a margarita too. And asked for a glass of water. The water never came and the taco was just 1 single calamari taco. When the bill came the taco was $16 and when I asked the waiter he said that taco (that o ordered from the taco Tuesday menu and was priced $8) was not $8 and was $16. I think the chef or owner loves Trader Joe's. Too bad I love Trader Joe's as much or even more since I have tried every sauce in there. If I wanted to go to Trader Joe's and get their sauces to have with chips I could have done it myself. Why would I go to a restaurant to eat everything that I can buy from Trader Joe's. I found this place on my way to San Diego from LA. I needed a spot to sit and enjoy my meal and wanted Mexican. It turned out to be a wonderful spot! While the ambiance certainly shows they are catering to the more American crowd, the food is wonderful. There were several meals listed as gluten free. I had a carne asada burrito. It was huge, but tasted amazing. I was full halfway through, but was reluctant to stop since the flavor was so good. read more
