While out on an adventure with my kids (and our dog), we decided it was time for tacos. We were looking for a spot with outdoor seating so we could bring the dog along and came across Taco Life Mexican Grill. The shopping center has that classic old Orange County western-style vibe, and there was plenty of parking available. Once inside, the restaurant was spotless, welcoming, and had a surprisingly large menu with lots of options to choose from. The cashier was also incredibly friendly and offered some great recommendations. We ended up ordering the carne asada fries with extra meat, a bean and cheese burrito, and a beer-battered fish taco. The portions were impressive, especially the fries. They came loaded with carne asada, guacamole, and sour cream, and there was more than enough for all three of us to share. Despite our best effort, we still couldn't finish them. The bean and cheese burrito was a hit with the kids and made for a simple, satisfying option. My favorite item, though, was the beer-battered fish taco. The soft corn tortilla, fresh cabbage, and crispy fish all came together perfectly. Everything tasted fresh, and the fish was hot, crunchy, and packed with flavor. It was honestly one of the better fish tacos I've had in quite a while. Overall, this was a great find and an easy 5-star experience. Good food, generous portions, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We'll definitely be back. read more

Walked in entrance was very welcoming. The young lady working the register/order taking greeted me immediately. I ordered the fish taco combo plate. The restaurant is. In the old Chronic Taco location. They have a good menu and pleasant staff. The menu is very similar to Chronic Taco. I am betting that both are franchises offered by the same parent company. I especially like their sopes. I am a bit concerned about their survival. Food/Drink- 5 stars California burrito- really good and a good balance of everything Quesabirria- really flavorful without being too greasy or salty. Lengua taco- this was my favorite. The fresh tortillas, the fresh pico, and the tender lengua. This was fantastic Pastor taco- same as above, but the pastor didn't have the charred flavor of grilling it off a spit. Taco Life is a convenient little place located in the Santiago Hills community. Pulling into the parking lot can be challenging at times, at spots closest to the restaurant, so it's best to get there early or park farther away over at Pacific Ranch Market. The entrance dawns some simple colorful flags and a funny statue of a server holding a burrito. It has the atmosphere of a casual little cafe, with a few tables for outdoor dining and scattered tables; tall and regular height inside. Taco Tuesday is my favorite day to visit; street tacos are $2.50 and you have a choice of asada, carnitas or pollo. The staff is super friendly, and ordering at the counter is fast. The order came out quickly and the tacos were fresh, fragrant and loaded! Grab a fork when you get your order, because as I bit one side, the contents overflowed out the other side. The tacos were flavorful and went down quickly. On a previous visit I ordered a fish burrito and it was large and stuffed with rice beans and fish. I found it also to be delicious and it was very filling. Taco Life is a great little place for a more authentic Mexican dining experience. read more

It's nice to see a that the old Chronic Taco has been replaced by another taco joint! They have a Taco Tuesday special-- $2.50 per taco with your choice of beef/chicken/pork. It's a little confusing because it's a smaller version of the regular menu tacos (4" vs 6" tortilla), which can also be ordered on Tuesday. The full size tacos can be ordered with fish/shrimp as well. I had the Cali burrito and enjoyed it thoroughly! It was bigger than expected but not overwhelmingly large. I liked that it had a creamy/tangy sauce inside (like an Ensenada style fish taco sauce). I ordered mine without sour cream, which was a good call considering the creamy sauce. To really go overboard, I also ordered one Taco Tuesday al pastor taco. It's a deal at $2.50, but it wasn't anything special. No pineapple and I would prefer onion/cilantro rather than pico de gallo on top. Overall, everything was really good, but there are so many good taco joints that it's hard to stand out. I'd be curious to see what others think. I'll likely end up here again, but more out of convenience than a burning desire. read more

I appreciate that Taco Life Mexican Grill is family owned, and I will say the service provided during my visit was commendable. Maybe I ordered the wrong items off the menu, but I honestly didn't think the Carnitas Taco and the Birria Taco were all that and I've def had better at a number of other Mexican restaurants. Having said that, I like that you can make it a combo and add chips, guacamole and a beverage for only $4.75. Taco Life has a legit number of stellar reviews so if I'm ever back in the area, I'll have to check out something different off their menu like a torta, quesadilla, burrito, antojito, ensalada, taquito, bowl or enchilada! read more

Great service, friendly staff. While I love getting tortilla chips with my food, I thought the chips were stale. Chicken quesadilla was dry and a little salty, burrito was enormous and tasty. I could barely finish a third of it. chilaquiles were tasty, chips, sauce and eggs were good. Avocado was not great looking. Great Taco Tuesday spot! Tacos are $2.50 (select choices on meat). I love the Al Pastor and Carne Asada options as they are full of flavor. The joke is that I've been to this same address three different times over the years, and each time I've been to a different Mexican eatery; this place has been home to three different Mexican restaurants, but I'm really hoping Taco Life Mexican Grill is here to stay--it's THAT good! I tried the Super Nachos with Al Pastor, and wow, what a feast! The plate was loaded with beans, extra cheese, guacamole, pico de gallo, crisp and flavorful jalapeños, sour cream, and their special sauce. Every bite was incredible. The Al Pastor was perfectly seasoned and absolutely fantastic--hands down some of the best I've had in OC. The whole plat of nachos was generously portioned, fresh, and totally satisfying! The store was clean and inviting, with a friendly crew who knew the menu inside and out. They helped me figure out exactly what I wanted, making my first visit here a great experience. Parking is still just adequate--typical plaza planning--but that's no fault of the restaurant. Sitting inside, I enjoyed a nice view of the Chapman Avenue race track (if you drive here, you know what I mean...), and the overall ambiance was relaxed and welcoming. There's so much more on the menu that I can't wait to try. This place is a definite win, and I'll absolutely be back! read more

I stopped by Taco Life in Tustin on my way to dinner with friends in Laguna, needing a quick bite since I had missed lunch. While it was a bit out of the way, I was glad I chose it over fast food. I ordered the Carne Asada Taco for $5, and my partner got the BRC burrito (Beans, Rice, Cheese)= $18 out the door. I was expecting the kind of street food you'd get from a food truck; you know small tacos w 2 tortillas but after seeing the price I knew it would've been the bigger tortilla. The Carne Asada Taco came in a generous portion, and while the tortilla was good, the asada could have been more tender. My partner found the BRC burrito to be okay, but it had too much rice and not enough beans and cheese to create a balanced flavor. The reason I'm giving this place 4/5, it's a new establishment and despite the decent food, is due to a concerning hygiene issue I witnessed. I noticed one of the workers grabbed the trash while wearing gloves and then returned to food prep without changing them. Proper hygiene practices are essential in any food establishment, especially for those with food handler's cards. read more

I had the 2 taco combo, and the lengua was legit good, the carne was just ordinary, and the way the tacos were done (street taco with only 1 tortilla and so-so rice and beans). I drove by this place and decided to give it a try. I decided to order the Carnitas plate. I asked for flour tortillas and was surprised when he said they typically don't serve them, but that he would check to see if they had any and, indeed they did. When my plate arrived, I was surprised as to how small the portions were. If I stretched the meat out, I was able to fill three small tortillas. I guess my biggest complaint was that the meat, rice and refried beans were very bland. in fairness to them. they had three containers of sauces on the table, but I typically don't have to use them as I avoid hot spicy add ons. I kept wondering where the salt was. Maybe it was an off day, but after spending $24 for the meal, soft drink and tip, I doubt if I'll be returning. read more

I did a catering order from here and all I can say is that they are so amazing to work with! We ordered carne and pollo asada, rice, beans and all the fixings. The food was excellent.
