I must confess! I've been back a few times to see if things have changed from the disappointment they'd become. Somehow some things are better. The carnitas plate is a must. Wonderfully cooked carnitas and lots of it! Surrounded by guacamole, rice, re-fried beans and fresh chopped pico de gallo. I have this with flour tortillas. Make my own little burritos adding some carnitas, rice, beans and salsa. Very tasty! This visit, the re-fried beans were much better than days past or at least, from the days of my previous review. The rice was also good. Not the best, but good. The two meat burrito had carnitas and carne asada was (I'm glad to report) GREAT! Then again, I should have requested they put the pico de gallo and sour cream on the side. I figure baby steps for now. I really was pleasantly surprised! read more

Love this place. Great food, great atmosphere, service is good. All around a great place to get Mexican food. Their margaritas are good too. They're wine based so no tequila, but still very good. Only thing is that they only have beer and wine as far as alcohol goes. read more

Had a great meal a few days ago with a friend and was absolutely delighted with their new server Nadine. She has only been with this establishment for a few days and she was a "perfect" front-of-the-house Server!! Great service and was very timely. Worst taco tuesday. Tacos are skimpy. The soft tortilla wasn't cooked enough and the crispy one had been sitting for a while. The worst was the potato taco. We order at least every week from Taco Surf and are never disappointed. Their ground beef hard shell tacos are the best, and they have the yummiest chicken tortilla soup in town. Wow Taco Surf! What happened? We have been coming here for years - almost weekly. LOVE the staff, especially Pepe. Service has always been great and fast, food good. Over the last few months it seems as though you have been declining. All new faces, slow service, orders consistently incorrect, food quality declining. She brought us half full drinks, and it took for ever for her to come back and take our order. you would have thought she went to the coke factory to refill our drinks as long as it took. I asked for a side of sour cream and it came when I was done eating. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. I have eaten here a ton of times and tried almost everything on there menu and I can say that it was all good. My favorites are the scorpion soup, #1 (Pescado Dinner) and the Baja Fish Burrito. If you can get a seat outside and you get a free show with all the people walking and driving up and down 2nd st. I came in during the week and sat at the bar. Has anyone else noticed the smell of human waste coming from the back of the restaurant? I thought it was just me, but have been back a couple of times and it's still lingering. I spoke to my waitress who seemed embarassed by the problem and apologized. My wife and I recently went here for a quick dinner. The prices are cheap, but so is the food and service. I'd never go back. I had the baja tacos and they tasted fishy, the chips were stale, and the salsa was average. The worst part was the service. The kids that work there all have attitude. The mensroom was dirty. My boyfriend and I live very close to this place, so it's definitely a go-to place for tacos! I first got their shrimp tacos, and while they were good, it was very hard to eat because they were a little soggy. But still delicious! The second time I got an enchilada with a side of rice. Taco Surf on 2nd street! You are my hero! I've been a fan since the old happy hour of $1 fish tacos. They are now $1.50 per taco but I could care less about the 50c price hike. The Baja fish tacos are deeeelicious and how can you go wrong with a $2.50 beer to go along with it? My gf and I love this spot and have made this our official fish taco joint/happy hour spot. Visited on 3/25. Initially, the hostess attempted to seat our party of 3 at a very small table that would have been small for 2 people. Service was extremely slow, and we waited at least 20 minutes after being seated before a server made it to our table, and that was after we flagged someone down. My girlfriend ordered a cheese enchilada and tamale combo - the cheese enchilada arrived with nothing inside the tortilla. My own food was mediocre at best, and certainly not worth the price.
