Taco Uprising has a focused but stellar menu! I love getting the guac and chips, plus the pescado taco and senor potato taco. The house margaritas are really good, and they always have something seasonal if you want to try it out, too. The space feels comfortable and it's like an elevated neighborhood taco bar. The staff and owner are always really friendly. I've always had friendly service. I usually get the 2 tacos plus an appetizer, and 2 drinks, but sometime when I'm really hungry I get the combo meal. The happy hour menu is totally comparable to other taco places both in quantity and price. The sleeper item is the plantain bowl! TRY IT! If you get a chance, try the arbol sauce! We have ordered Taco Uprising for the office catering and it felt like a good deal and the set up was professional. If you do have children there are high chairs if needed, children's menus and crayons & coloring. I don't write 3 star reviews lightly, but I'm surprised this is rated so highly on Yelp since this place is predominantly a taqueria and those were the biggest meh of the meal. We started with two amazing cocktails - the Mexpresso and Green mile - both clearly crafted with such care by the bartender (who was running a mile a minute and working hard nonstop behind the bar). We ordered t the plantains as an appetizer, and those came out and we scarfed them down. My husband and I each got a 3 taco plate and mine were the birria, Mexicano and fried chicken. I had super high hopes because there are only a handful of tacos on the menu so my thought was each would be awesome. The birria was SUPER greasy, which can be expected, but the meat was pretty fatty. I do think this was the most flavorful meat of the three. The beef in the Mexicano was SO over and tough, and honestly there wasn't much flavor here either - thankful for the green salsa that came with it. Lastly, the fried chicken was a huge disappointment. It was SO DRY, I only ate about 2 bites. My husband wasn't a fan of any of his tacos either. This is a fun place for some great tacos! It's bright and cheery, staff was very helpful in guiding us with the menu. Spouse had the two taco lunch (he chose Birria) with rice and beans, and thought it was wonderful -- threatened to lick the plate! I tasted all on his plate and agreed -- it was wonderful! I had a veggie quesadilla that was everything I wanted -- and more. Veggie's tasted very fresh and the cheese was plentiful. Loved it. My friend and I found this gem on inKind and had to try it! Very casual vibes with air conditioning on a hot summer day. Service was helpful and friendly - they walked us through the ordering process (digitally scanning a QR code). We sat at the bar, the server was a little slow, he might have honestly had a disability, but he was nice, you just had to remind him a couple of times for everything. As much as I am not sure if I call this restaurant in "RiNo" (as RiNo's boundaries are oftentimes a topic of debate), I must say that I like this quieter side of it where the Light Rail line L runs through; it's got some charms in my opinion. On this side, there are not a lot of competitions when it comes to restaurants. With that said, this quaint taco joint must be loved by the locals who reside in the area especially those who live on the very street, Welton. This place had been on my list of restaurants to visit for months. This was more so because I had such a disappointing experience at a different Mexican restaurant just the other night. I was in a dire need to have a little "sweet revenge" to eliminate the memory from it by having a nice/nicer meal experience. I am glad that I did come to this taco joint this AM to satisfy my hunger because the experience was quite good. Like I said, this place is fairly small. There are about 12 tables (all white; very clean.) There is a bar seating that is quite spacious for the overall size of the restaurant. Once you arrive, you either order upfront left to the bar or order at your table using the QR code. You can leave your tab open (for your entire stay so you can add more as you wish) or close it if you think you won't eat more than what you initially ordered. This option is convenient. The young man who greeted me upon arrival was pleasant to me; he explained all of this so that I could take care of my order with ease. Ordering using the QR code was indeed convenient. Once you have picked a taco of your choice, it will ask you if you want to sub your tortilla from flour to corn with no additional charge. I got me one of the Combos with 1) Potato Taco and 2) Early Bird Tabo. Both tacos are loaded with potatoes but the dish comes with a side of potatoes. On top of that, I got me a 2oz side guacamole (there are different sizes for this.) I don't know about other dishes but this restaurant is not stingy about the portions. At least that was the case for the two tacos I ordered. On the corn tortillas, the ingredients were generously place where I had to eat some of them first before I rolled my tacos to hand eat them. And of course, all the ingredients were cooked fresh and perfectly seasoned (both of the tacos are more geared toward breakfast as they included scrambled eggs.) They have happy hour, Saturday brunch etc.; this can tailor to people's needs and convenience no matter when they come to this place (they are closed on Monday just so you know.) The bar seems to have full function where they should be able to make most of the popular cocktails. It's a great place for solo diners as it's casual enough where people can have a quick/carefree dining experience. I will return next time with someone for the happy hour. read more

The menu here may be small but I would be happy with a plate of only their fish tacos. The batter is so crisp and the fish is cooked perfectly, and the sauces all taste great. I also really liked my birria taco, it's been a while since I've had a good one since that whole birria craze started a few years ago. This one is hot, cheesy, meaty, and the consomme is fantastic. The tortillas taste fresh which makes such a huge difference. The value here is also incredible - 2-3 tacos is pretty filling for a meal, they also have HH deals which I'll have to come back for sometime. The happy hour prices felt like a really good deal and we appreciated what you can customize the drinks. I really enjoyed the spicy Green Mile, it had a really good heat. For tacos we got birria, potato, and fried chicken tacos. The tacos were a really decent size for what we paid. The birria was good but I wouldn't say the best we've had in Denver. Came here on the good reviews, while I can tell they make everything to order getting the off menu nachos as a togo order was not the most stellar of ideas. We were going to the park and effectively wha I got for $23 was deconstructed nachos which we had to do all the work for. I wish it was all put together as most togo meals are generally. I think the tacos at Taco Uprising look better than they taste unfortunately and I can't really justify the price of the individual tacos, as it's about $6 a pop. I got their birria, fish taco, and the El Mexicano(steak tacos). I think the best one out of the three was the El Mexicano, steak was cooked nicely and flavorful and loved the avocado salsa on top of it. The birria was ok but lacked flavor and the consomé was bland, didn't feel like it had any spices in it and also lacked salt. The fish taco was also ok but they should put more salt and seasoning because it lacked that. We had such an amazing experience here on Friday night. We walked over from our Airbnb a little bit later in the evening, around 9ish and were able to be seated right away. They have breakfast, lunch, and dinner and we were so sad we weren't able to make it back for their breakfast, because the menu looked so delicious. All of their menus had plenty of wonderful vegan and vegetarian options on them, which made me so happy. Green Mule Cocktail: This was super light and refreshing. I get nervous ordering drinks with ginger in them, because sometimes the ginger can be overpowering, but this was perfect. It was a perfect and refreshing summer drink. Chips + Queso: Chips were great and perfectly salted, and the queso was wonderful. If you're on the fence about getting queso like we were, just get it :) Senor Potato Taco: DELICIOUS! Oh my goodness. The house made corn tortillas were just delicious. So much flavor, I could've eaten multiple. El Jardinero: Equally delicious and full of flavor. It came with cheese, sauteed mushrooms, corn, picked onions, crema, and salsa verde. Churro Cookie: GET IT! Deliciously gooey and warm, topped with vanilla ice cream and cinnamon dust. It was amazing. We devoured it in second. The house made tortillas stole the show here. We had the opportunity to chat with the owner for a little bit as he was making his way around the tables, and we got to hear the story of how they started. Our first visit to Taco Uprising was a solid four stars. Greeted quickly and seated was great service. This weekend is the jazz festival and I think this place will be busy. Max capacity for seating is 37 people. We started with chips and guacamole and the. ordered a decent cross section of tacos. Pollo verde 5 stars. My favorite tonight El Jardinero 5 stars. Flavor is amazing Fried chicken 3 stars, I had high hopes. Although tender the flavor was a miss. Birria 4 stars, was tasty Chili Colorado 5 stars, yummy. Pork Adobo was a 5 star repeat Quesadilla was 5 stars and really big enough to be a meal I had a Paloma and it was ok but not as tart as I expected. The churro cookie was the crowing star for the evening. Definitely a repeat. Warm and tasty. Team is still getting there groove on. High touches from everyone who stopped by our table including one of the owners. These guys are intent and focused to deliver. Ok, there are as many taco spots in denver as pizza places in NY, but a few stand out. Taco uprising is different. Their tacos are different from everything else out there. The only way I can explain it is they are very "clean" tacos. I had the chicken taco and a potato taco. The potato one was very cool! It was almost like eating a baked potato!
