After seeing Taco Viva featured on multiple food bloggers' social media accounts, we decided to stop in while we were in downtown Phoenix. Upon arriving, we were greeted by a large menu wall where we made our choices before heading to the counter to place our orders. We were glad to see they were busy on a Friday night but also glad that we didn't have to wait. We both ordered tacos, which were seriously filling and delicious! I opted to add 'everything' on mine, which included onion, cilantro, salsa, and guacamole. These tacos were fantastic, I love the al pastor. I also was smart enough to get the mulas (which I've normally heard referred to as mulitas). The asada was also great, but I definitely prefer al pastor. They add a generous amount of meat and their toppings were pretty good. The people working there were the best, they weren't busy so we had a great conversation. My bf and I tried this place for the first time, we ordered carne asada tacos which were delicious. Their corn tortillas are hand made and they are soft and warm. I also had a mango desert with chamoy so refreshing and tasty! You order at the cashier and you have take your receipt to the left and they will ask how you want your tacos "con Todo" means with everything which includes onion,cilantro, avocado sauce and salsa." The workers are so nice they greet you upon entering and they acknowledge when you walk out! Everyone is so friendly! We drove from Tucson to Phoenix just for these tacos our first time was July 27,2024 we then drove back on a Wednesday 07/31/24 night for dinner, all for these tacos! We then decided we needed to go back 8/10/24 . The consistency of this place is remarkable! The taste of the tacos were consistent! The environment and the friendliest was also consistent all three times! I absolutely 100 percent recommend this place!! The staff is great the food is delicious and the restaurant is very clean! Walking in, it's a very lively and bright/clean place. The menu will be the first thing you notice on your right! Everything was quick and I loved seeing the pastor roasting and I can see everyone's working hard :) I can really see it through the food. The Pastor Fries was everything (must get) , I love that Taco Vivas topped it with pineapple slices, fries were perfection, and pastor was super delicious. Since Taco Viva is close to my commute, I drive by all of the time, and today I FINALLY got to try it. It lived up to all of my expectations and then some! The food I ordered was the carne asada taco, the el pastor taco, and the gringa especiales. I can confidently say that everything was spectacular, and the carne asada taco in particular was one of my favorites I've tried in Phoenix. The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. SHEEESSSSH! These tacos are some of the best I've had, rivaling tacos El gordo in San Diego near the border. Got greeted right when we walked in, which was nice. Their layout was also pretty cool. I loved how their napkin holders had CON TODO on everything. Really nice. Their asada was not only moist, but you could taste the kiss of fire. Their tortillas are top notch. What can I say. I really wanted to like this spot and it fell short. I was super excited when i pulled in. the lot was full and my hopes were high. As I walked into the place it didn't have that taco smell that I'm use to. It was full of people and usually that's a good sign. I ordered Un taco de al pastor, una mula de asada, and the fries half asada half al pastor. Lets start with the portions. the portions were a little less than standard. the tortilla to meat ration on the taco was more tortilla than meat. Also lacking the amount of salsa and a cold piece of pineapple(when it should be warm) and very little onions and cilantro. The mula was perfectly balanced as far as the meat to tortilla balance but once again lacked guacamole y salsa. The fries were different but good the queo was a surprise instead of the usual shredded cheese. Regrettably, the meat to fries ration reminded me of chipotle. Now as far as the flavor the asada was overly salted, also a off flavor of like a artificial smoke flavor, and definitely over charred to the point that i would almost consider it burnt. The AL Pastor was lacked flavor and didnt not have the nice crispy pieces you would get from a well managed tropo. all in all this is my humble option but trust becuase yo girl I'm yogirlzfavoritefoodie. read more

Can I give 5+ stars? We were greeted so warmly by the cashier. The restaurant was so clean, even though they were in the middle of weekend lunch rush. For the price, I expected smaller street tacos, but these were standard size corn tortillas stuffed with meat and toppings. The carne asada was so tender and flavorful. I came here for lunch today with my fiancé and I was excited to try a new taco spot. What I experienced was disappointment. We each ordered 3 tacos. My order was correct. His order was incorrect. When he told the staff that his order was incorrect, they were defensive. They did not apologize and they did not offer to correct his order. They blamed him for their mistake. He walked away upset and the 3 male employees just looked at themselves and shrugged their shoulders. Food: good, not great. Salsa from the salsa bar was very good. Customer service: 1/5. The cashier was nice. I will probably not be back. I am big on customer service and cannot deal with crappy, dismissive service that puts profit before the customer. Every few years you come across a place that is just special. A place that does everything right. THIS is one of those places. First of all, I am an absolute lover of El Trompo. See pics if you dont know what El Trompo is. So few places even in Mexico do Al Pastor the right way. These guys do. In fact this is the best Al Pastor I have ever had and I have sought it out and hunted it down in cities across the US and Mexico. Similar layout to Tacos El Gordo in Las Vegas where you order and pay at the register and then give your receipt to the counter where they assemble it in front if you. They even make the tortillas fresh in house. Place is sparkling clean and the staff is so friendly and accommodating. It is clear they love working there. My recommendation is Al Pastor Tacos "con todo" includes a guac based sauce, salsa, cilantro, and onions. (FYI there is a little spice in the salsa) Also love that everything here is in Spanish first and English second. Try this place, you will be hooked. All this and moderate prices. Perfect score. I can't believe I waited so long to try this place. Ordered three tacos- pastor, carne asada and pollo. They offer a choice of corn or flour tortilla, but we all know corn is the only way. The pastor taco was off the charts insanely good! The meat had a beautiful roasted flavor and texture. Blew the other ones out of the water. They've got a salsa bar to dress up your tacos. And I ordered 1 taco de pastor on a flour tortilla and I will say I didn't really care for that one bc it wasn't spicy it was sweet and not too crispy or charred how I normally prefer it. This is my first experience at Taco Viva. I put in an online order at about 11:50 am (not really thinking this is clearly lunch hour rush) and when I got to the restaurant to pick up my order at 12 pm I realized my receipt said the soonest I could pick up was 12:45 pm. I went to the pick up window and explained my mistake to the gentleman. I normally don't have issues waiting especially if the establishment is busy but I happened to have a doctor's appointment down the street at 12:45. I was going to cancel the order and reorder or possibly have them move the pick up time after my appointment. The gentleman at the pick up window said my order was small so he would make it real quick, no worries. He gave me a cup for my drink, and by the time I filled my drink at the fountain and grabbed a couple of salsas my order was done and I walked out of there at 12:10. This is the kind of customer service that I never expect and to have experienced it simply says so much about the business. Now let's get to the food! I ordered a carne asada mula "con todo" and an al pastor taco "con todo", both 10/10! The crispy mula, with the carne asada, topped with guac - was just perfect. The al pastor taco had a delicious pineapple flavor that was just right, not too overwhelming and even came with a slice of pineapple. The size and meat portions for each were bigger than I thought they would be, so also very filling! I can't wait to go back for the astounding customer service and delicious food! This new taco spot in Phoenix is on Indian School Road. I really love the concept they have set up here. There's no waiting in salsa bar lines. The tacos are dressed as you specify during ordering and when you give the order to the taqueros.   I got the asada fries and two pastor tacos. The asada fries were delicious, with the salsa having a nice kick. The really interesting thing about these asada fries is that there is no other that tastes this way. It has a taste profile all its own. Highly recommended.   The pastor tacos are really impressive with the combination of the "CON TODO" flavors. This was an amazing taco. I will be back for these many times. I also purchased guacamole, chips, and queso blanco. Both were outstanding.    All the staff were nice and made the order quickly. read more
