This was my first time here and I absolutely have to say with no doubt these are the best tacos that I have had in Phoenix. I had Carne Asada and El Pastore. They were both flavored so well! The handmaid tortillas were great as well as the beans! Great street style tacos El pastor and carna asada were outstanding. Tomatillo green salsa was the best of many smoked flavors are subtle and spice is medium. Tacos are built right in front of you by one person not slid down assembly line. Don't forget to ask for grilled onions and jalapeños to go with whatever you order. I've been driving by this place for a while now since it was under construction. I finally had a chance to pop in and went for the Taco and Vampiro Al pastor. The inside is very nice and spacious which is always great. The menu is small which I liked as well. They modeled the place after some famous taquerias in Mexico, which they highlight with some pictures. Being from San Diego I have had the chance to go to two of the ones they mentioned so I was stoked. I had a carne asada taco and a pastor Vampiro. The asada was good, but missing something. The Vampiro was really delicious and was a huge fan of the chipotle tasting sauce they had. Unfortunately I think someone went way overboard with the salt on the green salsa they had out. While it's cool to see places making tortillas by hand, it's risky because "home made" is not synonymous with "good". The tortilla they had worked really well for the tostada, but not so much for the taco. They did a great job hiring very friendly staff members which is great to see. I'm not a huge fan of having them all scream welcome and goodbye to every customer. There's enough positive energy from your interaction at the register and the cooks :) Overall a cool place with solid food and will be back to try some more of their menu! read more

Avoid at all costs! Their customer service is awful. Their ordering system is needlessly complicated--you have to wait in line to place an order, and then for some reason you have to wait in line again to give your ticket to the person who makes the food. First of all, why can't they automate that process like every other restaurant? Second, this system is an obvious vector for transmitting illnesses. Customers touch a slip, then hand it directly to the people preparing the food. Of course those people don't wash their hands after handling the slip. The food is overpriced, and mediocre at best. The staff are rude and incompetent. It honestly might be one of the worst restaurants in Phoenix. PS: Look closely at the positive reviews this restaurant has. They're pretty obviously farmed/fake. read more

The al pastor taco con todo was fabulous. The meat was well seasoned, had some of that crispiness on the outer edges, the sauce was delish. My friend ordered the pollo taco con todo and she thoroughly enjoyed it. I placed my order, took my little slip, went to sit down, and waited for my number to be called. I was going to be waiting for a loooooongggg time because that's now how it works here. I didn't understand the set up and got politely schooled when I went up to ask hey, is my order coming out soon. Turns out you order at the register, they give you a slip that you will hand to the taco barista (I don't know what to call the taco prep person), and they will put on the fixings for you. I was a bit skeeved out that I was holding the order slip, had to hand it to the taco barista who was wearing the same gloves that they were wearing for the prior order from the slip someone else was holding, and then they prepped my food. I am by no means a health department expert, but that seems like it isn't an ideal scenario. The vibe was energetic and the decor was fun. They have a good salsa bar and a fountain drink station plus drinks in bottles you can order at the register. I've been dying to try this spot. I love that the menu is not big and they offer mulas! Their chicken is a bit smoky which was so good. The Al pastor tacos were tender and the guacamole on top was creamy. My favorite item on the menu are the mulas. If you love a extra cheesy quesadillas this is for you. Kept seeing this place online and had to stop by. We got there right before the rush hit, by the time we left the line was to the door. They have their menu up on the walls so you can see everything and I was tempted to order everything! Very nice and polite staff and clean restaurant. You have the option to get your taco on flour or corn tortilla. They hand you your receipt with your order and then one of the staff on the line will call you up and make your order in front of you, and that is where you get to choose what goes on your taco. I ordered an al pastor taco con todo (with everything) on a flour tortilla and a carne asada taco con todo on a corn tortilla. I absolutely loved both of them, although I wish I had asked for a jalapeno or two on the side.. next time! Their guacamole and salsa are very flavorful and have a bit of heat which I love! The al pastor was full of spice and flavor, I wish I ordered more than one. The rest of my family ordered the chicken tacos and enjoyed them but weren't enamored, I told them they should have ordered the carne asada or al pastor. They have a cute salsa bar by the soda fountain with lots of options and limes for you to grab. I grabbed some green salsa and orange salsa which I need to get more of next time!! Wow, this place was so delicious. I've been watching this place as they built it for the last two months. It was finally open and it was absolutely delicious. All of the meats and toppings are all fresh and you order and walk along a preparation bar. This is exactly the style of Mexican food and preparation. That is my favorite. The place was super clean and it was super busy even at 3 PM but no wait time. I would highly recommend this place and it's quickly becoming one of my favorite Mexican places in the valley. My only recommendation would be that if this place would decide to sell the prepared meats for a premium price per pound or half pound like local barbecue places. I went to TV 4 times in one week trying everything on the menu. I brought my daughter and when my son was in town I took him too. Their pastor is like no other, it's so good, tender, juicy, and flavorful. They can be a little heavy on the toppings for the fries. Once my fries were soaked in cheese and not crispy at all. But you can ask for the melted queso or the shredded. I love the tostados with the beans. I go back and forth between carne and al pastor. My daughter loved the chicken. She usually gets their version of a quesadilla. They don't melt the quesadilla together but it eventually all melts nicely. They say welcome and good bye to every customer. Guess what?! Of all the places we adventured to this week this was one of our top finds. SBL and I couldn't have been more happy with Taco Viva. Walked in and right away our nostrils were Judi chopped with those fabulously good grill smells. (The nose knows) the place is new only open for a month and a half. Inside was clean and aesthetically pleasing and decorated well. The menu is painted on the wall and they have a line you follow to tell the chefs what toppings you want on your order. The main guy was training a newbie and he was so patient and kind we said we would have loved that guy teaching us anything when we were in school. I ordered the mula with chicken on corn tortillas with sides of chips and queso. SBL ordered 3 tacos, a chicken, asada and a pastor. We took it home and it weathered the storm of me driving thru rush hour traffic. They weren't greasy, just juicy. They were spicy in the best way and so stupid tasty it brought me to bring on our new measure meter called The SHUT YOUR FACE IT'S SO GOOD METER! Both SBL and I give this place a two thumbs up and a happy tummy rub. Taco Viva is an instant classic. So happy the best tacos in Phoenix moved to Arcadia. Everything on the menu made fresh to order. Taco trucks, taco stands and taco pop up's aren't everyone's cup of tea but if you've been wanting something authentic with a super clean atmosphere, then this is the place! The concept is really nice and actually reminded me of a place in New York I went to so it was kinda cool walking into it. You order at the register so if it's busy make sure you get in the right line and then once you order, the people prepping the food will call for the next person and you just walk up and hand them the receipt. Remember this is a Mexican restaurant so almost all if not all staff will be speaking in Spanish. Some of the staff does know English though because I overheard some of them talk to some customers. Headed into Phoenix to catch a Diamondback's game. Taco Viva happens to be a 15 minute drive from Chase Field. Everything was perfect at Taco Viva. The food, the atmosphere, the cleanliness, the employee interactions and the management were all top notch. Mr. NerI, one of the owners, was working the grill when we entered. When leaving, we bumped into Mr. NerI, coming back from a deposit at the dumpster. This country has an over abundance of greasy hamburger joints and way too many mediocre Mexican restaurants. After reading in AZ Republic that Taco Viva was one of best new taco restaurant, my foodie friend and I decided to venture in on a Tuesday night. We drove into the well manicure address muttering our amazement at the cars pouring in for parking places. The welcome in was warm and inviting as we ordered promptly and watched the chefs carving, searing and preparing our dinners. The spacious spot offered nice tables and booths to sample our 2 Carne Asada Tacos with everything including a generous wallop of fresh guacamole!
