Really excited to try this place, pretty straight forward menu. I asked for recommendations and was told to try the vampiros with pastor. I actually did not love the vampiro as I'm used to a softer shell but they still had good flavor. I thought their normal tacos were delicious! Chicken asada and pastor all were hitting and the guacamole was perfect. Make sure to get their homemade salsa as well, really put the flavor profile over the top.

One of my favorite quick, casual places to grab lunch or dinner from! Every time we go, the staff is always very friendly and welcoming. While the line can be long, don't let it fool you because the service is quick and efficient! The restaurant is also adding a drive thru line, so that should help disperse the line inside of the restaurant. Even with how busy the restaurants can get, I've never had an issue finding a place to sit and eat. They make each item to order in front of you, you get to choose which toppings you want to add. I always order my items "con todo" with onion, cilantro, guacamole/crema, and salsa. This trip I ordered 3 especiales: caramelo (steak), gringa (pork), and gabacho (chicken). Unfortunately, they ran out of chicken, so I subbed for an extra gringa, my favorite of the 3. I also got an order of chips and queso, but be careful because the queso is addicting! They also have a help yourself salsa bar, but the salsas tend to be watery and not very flavorful. The orange one is my favorite, adds a good kick to the food. The pricing is reasonable, especially for the quality of food you get, even when I tend to over order. Overall, I will continue coming to Taco Viva any time I'm in the mood for some yummy tacos!

At this point, the line at this taco spot is less of a wait and more of a support group for people addicted to hongos fries. Every time I come here it gets more packed, which is both annoying and completely understandable because the food is ridiculously good. The tacos are fantastic, the fries are life-changing, and the hongos fries specifically deserve their own national holiday. This place made the Top 100 food spots in America list, and honestly? Deserved. It's the best taco spot in the country in my opinion and makes places like Torchy's feel like they're competing in junior varsity. The vibe is also way above average for a taco joint; lively, clean, and full of people who look like they just took their first bite and immediately started planning their next visit. The taco crew is always friendly too, even while dealing with lines longer than a DMV on a Monday. If you don't know what to order, here's the move: Get one taco or an especial if you're a cheese enthusiast, a medium fry with your topping of choice, and guac with chips. That's the kind of meal that makes you sit in your car afterward thinking about your life choices in a positive way. Enjoy. And maybe stretch beforehand because you're going to want to fight someone over the last hongos fry.

We love Taco Viva so much that I'm doubling down on my first review. Best tacos in Phoenix! There are a lot of creative and delicious tacos in the valley. Some of them are from joints that don't qualify as a Mexican Restaurant. Given the choice, I will always choose the simple, authentic, flavorful tacos from Taco Viva! Gracias!

Wow! I stopped by around 1:30 on a weekday and it was so busy! Luckily there's quite a bit of parking behind. What a cute place! Very lively and clean atmosphere. You order at the front then take your slip to the cooks at the open kitchen. I'm not sure why this step but its kinda fun -- they're very friendly, ask you if you want "con todo" and here or to go, then hand you back your food shortly after. You do get to see the trompo (al pastor pork cooking on a spit - the only real al pastor!) and your food being made. I got an al pastor taco and a gringa (al pastor taco with cheese), both con todo. There's a salsa bar and though the tacos already had plenty of stuff on them, I had to add some salsa as it was so good! There is also a drive through. I'll definitely be back!

Tried Viva Tacos and it did NOT disappoint queso & chips, guacamole & chips, carne asada tacos, AND al pastor... and everything was seriously so good. The guac was super fresh, and those chips were perfectly crunchy. The carne asada tacos were packed with flavor and cooked just right, and the al pastor had that perfect sweet + savory combo. Honestly, every single thing we ordered hit. seven the beans were great. Great food, great vibes, and definitely a new go-to spot for tacos. Already planning my next visit Shout out to the amazing service this place has!!!

Cool design and fun place to take the family or just a few friends. There was a pretty long line and we got through it in about 20 minutes; you line up to order, and then get in a second line to have your items assembled. In the assembly line, there were some items that were premade (the fries already had cheese and meat on them, assembler just added guac, so meat looked a little cold). But other than that they all the fixings for you (onion, cilantro, salsa, guac). They gave us a free taco though, for a mistake at the register. Low-key the best pastor I've ever had, they put pineapple in it which always just level up the experience!! Also comes with a crema that didn't overpower the flavors, but balanced it all out. Seriously the best taco I've ever had. I'm telling all my friends.

Came in to try out this place I kept seeing all over my Instagram Got the pollo and al pastor tacos Pollo had a really hot salsa that came on it so unsure if the chicken had any flavor or not. The true star of the show was the al pastor taco! That meat was so tender and full of flavor. I would eat a dozen of them. We also got chips and guac and some beans. Service was friendly and quick. They also took the time to explain some of the menu items. Inside was spacious and clean. Def worth a try!

Are these the best tacos? I tried a little of everything. The best thing by far is the Taco Pastor. They put this cilantro avocado crema on it as well as the pineapple that takes it to the next level! Typically a lot of places over cook the asada but here it was nice and juicy. It seems chaotic when you walk in but they do a good job taking orders and getting you the food. I would go back.

If you're looking for authentic Mexican tacos rather than Tex-Mex, this is the spot. I loved that you can choose between flour or corn tortillas. The al pastor with pineapple was a standout, and the mushroom taco had a lot of potential, but the heat level was too high and ended up drowning out the other flavors. Honestly, my favorite thing on the menu wasn't even a taco, the carne asada fries were the highlight of the meal. Worth a visit if you're curious about what real Mexican food tastes like.

Taco Viva easily exceeded my expectations and lived up to the hype (top 100 restaurant on Yelp). These tacos are the best that I've had in a minute. Each taco was truly unique but traditional in a sense. The Al pastor was my favorite, it came with a delicious cilantro crema. I also tried a moula as well? Quite good but I think I'd get another taco instead next time. Easy 5/5

The food and salsas are delicious. Getting there might confuse you. There was a line out the door, so I followed the crowd. Saw some inexpensive merch and their menu and the restrooms. I finally arrived at counter and paid for meal and got a ticket. I moved over but found out I accidentally cut off the ither people waiting so got in another line to wait for the personal customization of my food order. After that was complete I got my coke product drinks and salsas. The Carne Asada and the Al Pastor were tender, flavorful, and so worth going back for more. The only thing I recommend is possibly lines on the floor for direction, and clearer instructions for newbies. I so wanted to buy a beanie, but next time.

Taco Viva is spectacular. Everything was good, well seasoned and had great flavor. Loved the chicken, carne asada, but I think my fav was the Al pastor. The corn tortillas were soft and had a little firmness. The mini quesadilla is cheesy gooey deliciousness. Tip, ask for the grilled onions and peppers on the side. It's free. Ask for the green crema that comes with the al pastor. It's great on all of the tacos, but is only added on the Al pastor. Overall, highly recommend. Friendly staff and happy to make your tacos anyway you want.

The service from girl at register sucked! Service got better when the gentleman made tacos to order and answered question's. Very polite unlike girl at register. Home made tortillas , chips, salsas, and sauces keep your mouth watering for more. First time here, ill b back. I had 4 taco's, chips and salsa with drink. The salsa bar was all fresh. Nice venue! Kept seeing this place online and had to stop by. We got there right before the rush hit, by the time we left the line was to the door. They have their menu up on the walls so you can see everything and I was tempted to order everything! Very nice and polite staff and clean restaurant. You have the option to get your taco on flour or corn tortilla. They hand you your receipt with your order and then one of the staff on the line will call you up and make your order in front of you, and that is where you get to choose what goes on your taco. I ordered an al pastor taco con todo (with everything) on a flour tortilla and a carne asada taco con todo on a corn tortilla. I absolutely loved both of them, although I wish I had asked for a jalapeno or two on the side.. next time! Their guacamole and salsa are very flavorful and have a bit of heat which I love! The al pastor was full of spice and flavor, I wish I ordered more than one. The rest of my family ordered the chicken tacos and enjoyed them but weren't enamored, I told them they should have ordered the carne asada or al pastor. They have a cute salsa bar by the soda fountain with lots of options and limes for you to grab. I grabbed some green salsa and orange salsa which I need to get more of next time!! We took our order to go and it held up on the drive! 10/10 will be back to order more off their menu. read more

Taco trucks, taco stands and taco pop up's aren't everyone's cup of tea but if you've been wanting something authentic with a super clean atmosphere, then this is the place! The concept is really nice and actually reminded me of a place in New York I went to so it was kinda cool walking into it. You order at the register so if it's busy make sure you get in the right line and then once you order, the people prepping the food will call for the next person and you just walk up and hand them the receipt. Remember this is a Mexican restaurant so almost all if not all staff will be speaking in Spanish. Some of the staff does know English though because I overheard some of them talk to some customers. I am from out of town and found this place on Yelp. It was FANTASTIC! The food and service were GREAT! The restaurant itself was also VERY nice and clean. Top notch place for sure. My favorite taco place in the country has always been Tacos El Gordo in the Vegas area and this place is damn near exactly the same! Now my 2nd best/favorite taco place in the country!! Taco Viva is AMAZING. So glad I found a GO-TO taco place EVERY time I'm in the Phoenix area!! 5/5 for sure. read more

Wow, this place was so delicious. I've been watching this place as they built it for the last two months. It was finally open and it was absolutely delicious. All of the meats and toppings are all fresh and you order and walk along a preparation bar. This is exactly the style of Mexican food and preparation. That is my favorite. The place was super clean and it was super busy even at 3 PM but no wait time. I would highly recommend this place and it's quickly becoming one of my favorite Mexican places in the valley. My only recommendation would be that if this place would decide to sell the prepared meats for a premium price per pound or half pound like local barbecue places. The items are only sold prepared with toppings and tortillas. Again, this place is five star as well as all of the employees are outstanding customer service. read more

The interior layout and the service remind me so much of Tacos #1 in NYC. I have been looking a for a taco restaurant like this in AZ for some time and so glad they opened this place up. I went to TV 4 times in one week trying everything on the menu. I brought my daughter and when my son was in town I took him too. Their pastor is like no other, it's so good, tender, juicy, and flavorful. They can be a little heavy on the toppings for the fries. Once my fries were soaked in cheese and not crispy at all. But you can ask for the melted queso or the shredded. I love the tostados with the beans. I go back and forth between carne and al pastor. My daughter loved the chicken. She usually gets their version of a quesadilla. They don't melt the quesadilla together but it eventually all melts nicely. They say welcome and good bye to every customer. The customer service is just outstanding. I love the set up as well. I'm a fan. read more

Guess what?! Of all the places we adventured to this week this was one of our top finds. SBL and I couldn't have been more happy with Taco Viva. Walked in and right away our nostrils were Judi chopped with those fabulously good grill smells. (The nose knows) the place is new only open for a month and a half. Inside was clean and aesthetically pleasing and decorated well. The menu is painted on the wall and they have a line you follow to tell the chefs what toppings you want on your order. The main guy was training a newbie and he was so patient and kind we said we would have loved that guy teaching us anything when we were in school. I ordered the mula with chicken on corn tortillas with sides of chips and queso. SBL ordered 3 tacos, a chicken, asada and a pastor. We took it home and it weathered the storm of me driving thru rush hour traffic. They weren't greasy, just juicy. They were spicy in the best way and so stupid tasty it brought me to bring on our new measure meter called The SHUT YOUR FACE IT'S SO GOOD METER! Both SBL and I give this place a two thumbs up and a happy tummy rub. For a bonus they give away stickers too so if you see a car flyin by with twelve Taco Viva stickers plastered all over it's me, good times. read more

Taco Viva is an instant classic. So happy the best tacos in Phoenix moved to Arcadia. Everything on the menu made fresh to order. The Tacos are amazing, my go to tacos are the carne asada and al pastor. Also the chips and quac so good. The staff are the best part, so friendly, greet you when you come in and when you leave. The place always sparkling clean. They always playing Mexican ranchera music which adds to the perfect festive atmosphere. Can't say enough theses guys hitting a taco home run! Taco Viva is fun and the food is amazing! I highly recommend the pork and the mushroom dishes! My favorite was the Mulas! The fries are pretty spectacular as well. The staff is super friendly, energetic, knows and clearly loves their food...always good when they love their own product. Headed into Phoenix to catch a Diamondback's game. Taco Viva happens to be a 15 minute drive from Chase Field. Everything was perfect at Taco Viva. The food, the atmosphere, the cleanliness, the employee interactions and the management were all top notch. Mr. NerI, one of the owners, was working the grill when we entered. When leaving, we bumped into Mr. NerI, coming back from a deposit at the dumpster. This country has an over abundance of greasy hamburger joints and way too many mediocre Mexican restaurants. Watch out Chipotle, Moe's, Taco Bell, Baja Fresh and On The Border there is definitely a new player coming at you. Thank you everyone at Taco Viva. read more

After reading in AZ Republic that Taco Viva was one of best new taco restaurant, my foodie friend and I decided to venture in on a Tuesday night. We drove into the well manicure address muttering our amazement at the cars pouring in for parking places. The welcome in was warm and inviting as we ordered promptly and watched the chefs carving, searing and preparing our dinners. The spacious spot offered nice tables and booths to sample our 2 Carne Asada Tacos with everything including a generous wallop of fresh guacamole! We added a small quesadilla with cheese and beef that came folded. Dinner was delightful! We ate everything as we bantered with lovely staff promising them that we would be back soon! Taco Viva is Not to be missed! There is a very good reason this restaurant is quickly becoming a popular place in town! read more

By far some of the best Al pastor tacos I've ever had. If you're familiar with tacos el gordo then this place will blow you out of the water. Food was great and staff was even better, super friendly and welcoming. This just turned into my new favorite spot. Word to the wise the Al pastor fries have what seems to be a chipotle sauce on top and it ain't for the faint of heart great taste but have your drink ready. read more

Taco Viva is great! Thankfully it opened up by work so it's an easy spot to go to lunch. Staff is great and the location is clean and most importantly tacos are delicious!! Some of the most authentic tacos I have tried in AZ. Only complaint is the limited parking but I know this is common in the area. read more

I want to share my wonderful experience at this place. I loved that they made the tortillas fresh to order - that's just one of the reasons I'm giving this place 5 stars. I ordered 2 chicken and one pastor taco. The tacos are quite big, and I was full after my second one. Both varieties tasted delicious, but the pastor was my absolute favorite. Can only use some hotter salsa at salsa bar! Otherwise 5 stars! Great spot, very inviting and friendly atmosphere and staff. Fantastic selection of Mexican bottled sodas as well as fountain drinks and cerveza. The food is great, well-portioned tacos, mulas and vampiros. Order first then visit your preparer to get customized (con todos is great). This place should rightfully do great business, check it out, it's very good! read more

This was our first time here and it lived up to the reviews! The inside is stylish and cute, the staff was incredibly friendly, and the food was delicious. Sadly they were out of the Al pastor but the chicken was flavorful and moist. My friend said the carne asada was great. The quesadilla was different but better than the average one. Just visited Taco Viva for the first time and I already can't wait to go back! As a vegetarian I was so happy to see mushrooms on the menu as a protein option. The tacos were fire & the customer service here is top notch. Rosa was super helpful and explained the menu and tortilla options and the guys serving up the food made a point to greet everyone coming in and everyone leaving. Great experience! Really good authentic Mexican food. I usually prefer carne asada but the al pastor seems like the speciality here, it was so good. Fries are beer battered which is the best. Salsa is sometimes a little bit spicy and other times the perfect mild. Guac is like a sauce which I love. They're fast. Lots of meat in the tacos and on the fries. Wish they did burritos. Horchata was amazing. And I came in late one night and was apologizing about it being near closing time and the lady was so nice about it, really made me feel like she was happy to take my order. Only 3 types of meat- but if you're looking for a good carne asada, al pastor, or chicken taco- this is the place! This is my first but won't be my last. When you walk into this bustling place the menu is on the wall. When we stepped up to order the women were relaxed and made you feel like we had been there before. I asked questions and the ladies were happy to help. You can tell all the kitchen staff were glad to be there. All smiles from the cooks. I ordered my tacos on corn being my choice. I was asking about the quesadilla and one of the owners made one for me to try. The tables are clean and fairly busy midafternoon. The Salas is delicious. The Guacamole was fresh like all the food. Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.

Uber/Lyft would be my recommendation, but there is a paid parking garage down a couple of streets. We didn't need a reservation since we had a small party, but I would recommend if if you're coming with a party of four or more. We sat at the bar and ordered four dishes from different categories, which was a great way to sample the menu; though honestly I think we probably could have gotten away with just 3 dishes for a party of 2. We tried Yam Mamuang Boran (old-style green mango salad), Boo Pad Pong Garee (crab curry with ginger), Tom Yum Haeng Sen Yai (dry tom yum with wide noodles), and Naem Khao Tot (crispy rice salad with fermented pork sausage). They told me to send an email to Rigo at customer service which I did. I never heard from anybody from their office. So I'm updating my review. And the reason being is apparently they don't care about their customers or he would've contacted me like he said he would. read more

The burritos are huge, packed with flavor, and very reasonably priced for the portion size. If you're feeding a big appetite, this is the spot. One of my favorite things is that you can buy their tortillas by the dozen. They're the oversized kind we call "sobaqueras" in Sonora, named for their size and the traditional way they're made. They're perfect for making your own burritos at home. Personally, I prefer the green chile over the red. The red chile felt like it was missing a bit of flavor for my taste, but that doesn't take away from how much I support this place. Carolina's has been part of our community for years. If you grew up in Phoenix in the '90s, this spot hits you with pure nostalgia the smell of fresh flour tortillas, just like the ones your mom or abuelita used to make. Let's keep it low key...
