I'm honestly not sure how much pot I would have to smoke in order to understand the burrito politics of Tacofino . So I sat at the bar and ordered a Wednesday pale ale feature beer but because the server thought it was Thursday said some other beer was the daily special !? I wanted a Burrito but because it was after 3 pm (‍ ) apparently I had to have it to go because it was only on the " TAKE OUT " Menu ? So the explantation was I offered was burritos "interfere " somehow with the Taco dinner menu (? ?) So I order the burrito ( To Go ) regardless and finished my beer . If they had " allowed" me to eat my burrito in the restaurant, I probably would've ordered another beer. I looked around in the restaurant was about 75 % empty.. This place is Loosing money because of some weird pre conceived notion of philosophy or practicality . It really amazes me how common sense in business can be eluded. Workers here are nice and attentive. I needed to charge my phone and my friend suggested that I ask to have it charged at the front of the restaurant. we had relatives visiting from out of town and they wanted to go to tacofino. we stopped by around 7:30 pm on a friday and were seated immediately after placing our order. the vibe at tacofino yaletown is laid-back and chill, with an open, spacious design that still feels cozy. it's a perfect casual spot for tacos and margaritas, ideal for a relaxed evening out. i ordered the lemongrass chicken taco, which was a delicious mix of cabbage, pickled carrots, daikon, tamarind mayo, sriracha, jalapeños, and cilantro. the flavours were bright and balanced, with a nice kick from the sriracha and jalapeños. the crispy mushroom taco was another standout, featuring oyster mushrooms, arugula, vegan miso garlic mayo, and pickled onions. it was fresh, the texture was spot on, with a satisfying crunch paired with creamy, flavourful toppings. we also shared the tater tots with salsa, but unfortunately, they arrived a bit soggy, which was a letdown compared to the rest of the meal. read more

I love Tacofino's food! I've been to four of their locations and they all have a slightly different menu and vibe. They all have very creative options for tacos, burritos and bowls. The burritos are huge, the bowls are a more modest (but still satiating) portion; either one leaves me very satisfied. The crispy soy curls burrito/bowl has amazing flavour but all of the vegetarian options are good - even the bean and cheese, which sounds the most plain, is delicious. The composition of the different bowls/burritos are balanced with protein, veggies, and carbs. The diablo cookie, a chocolate cookie with a touch of cayenne, isn't heavily advertised but is not to be missed if you want something sweet with your meal. This location is very casual: order and pay at the counter, seat yourself. The staff will bring you your food and sometimes they check up on you. The staff are always friendly in my experience and the vibe is pretty cool. read more

I am catching up on reviews from our Vancouver trip, and it is easier for me to remember the experiences at places that I enjoyed like Tacofino. I am not sure if all of their locations are this small but they have a cute patio space in front where you can people watch the Yaletownies. We had just come from another meal but when I saw this place I said I needed to get the fish taco here because I had heard they are very good, and fortunately the taco did not disappoint. There is a lot going on with this dish (as you can see in the picture) but all the ingredients Work well together. We cannot resist chips and guac so we got that as well. The chips could have used a little more seasoning but the guac was good, although could always use more guac. If we get back to Vancouver, we will have to try to come here for a full meal so we can try more of their items. read more

I tried Taocfino as I saw good reviews online. Unfortunately I was disappointed. The tacos are pricey, around $7.5 per taco before tax. Taste wise, it was super mediocre and not authentic (which I knew coming in but still) I got the pacific cod tacos - 3.5/5, carnita tacos 3/5 and lemongrass chicken tacos - 2.5/5. The meat was kinda dry for all the tacos I had. Not pictured here, but I also got a beef brisket burrito and that was better. The rice inside was good and it was jam packed with flavourful beef. However, the tortilla was very greasy. I also ordered their churros which were underfried. The service was also very inattentive but maybe because it was a super casual sit down place? You order at the front and tip when you pay. Maybe their other locations are better but won't be coming back to this location. read more

Great fast casual spot for tacos in yaletown. They have a small menu and different options depending on which location you go to. The stand out was definitely the soft and crunchy carnitas, very similar to the idea of the Gordita crunch at Taco Bell. Loved the carnitas and also got the crispy mushroom which is a lot of fried but I loved the sauces on both. Definitely ask for the green homemade salsa as well! Really enjoyed their lemongrass chicken taco here! My friends and I grabbed take out to eat on a bench nearby and although you'd think a taco is small and messy, it was actually enough to fill me up for a few hours and had plenty of protein! (I came here to write an update to my past review, only to discover that I never wrote a review for this place, despite enjoying their tacos many times over the past five years. Weird!). Until this past week, I would have rated this place a solid four-five stars. My kids and I have always enjoyed the tacos here. We've eaten on their small outdoor patio a few times but we usually get their tacos as a take-out meal and we eat them at home. My kids usually get two different tacos each (I've tried their cauliflower taco and it was great!) but I never deviate from my favorite lemongrass chicken taco. It is amazing! And I love how you can customize a bit, as I can't tolerate spicy foods, so I always ask for "no spice" (so they don't put on the jalapeños or spicy sciracha mayo). It's still very flavorful and well-seasoned, with tons of other delicious spices. In the past, once in a while, my lemongrass tacos weren't exactly the same as they were in the past, but they still were within the range of "consistency" and predictability (i.e., occasionally they were a bit spicier than usual or had a bit less chicken in them). Also, my kid and I once went to their happy hour and we were underwhelmed but my margarita, and my kid wasn't thrilled by her wine option. So we decided to forgo HH's here. But we always returned for the tacos, as they've always been great. (Note: I should add that you can opt for the tacos to be made as a burrito - which are huge - or in a bowl, which I prefer as it's less messy. It's nice to have these options!). Anyhow, I was having a hankering for my lemongrass chicken tacos - i.e., bowl - the other day, so I placed an order, walked there, picked it up, walked home, excitedly (it had been a long time since I had this and it's SUCH a treat!). And I got home and opened the bowl and wow, I was SO SO disappointed. All the pieces of chicken were BLACK and burnt. I cut into one and it was hard and rubbery. I tasted it. SO dry and hard. It was inedible. I threw out all the chicken. The seasoned rice "bar" was good, as was the pickled cabbage, so I ate that. But no chicken. Which is primarily what you pay for when getting a chicken taco, right? I honestly can't understand how any establishment would be comfortable packaging up and serving blackened, hard, burnt chicken to their customers. Anyhow, I am posting this as a warning to everyone to CHECK YOUR ORDERS before bringing them home, to ensure nothing is burnt. Lesson learned for me, that's for sure. read more

Had an opportunity to try a Vegan cauliflower burrito, and wow! I wish I had taken some photos but I devoured it before I had thought about it. I am really impressed with the portion size and flavours of the Vegan options. The rice, Avo, and everything thing else is an add on which really allows you to enjoy the simplicity of plant based filling. So delicious! The salsa and guacamole are very fresh! I went during their happy hour. I enjoyed their passion fruit margarita. Also ordered a beer, wings and nachos. The tacos are a good size and one can fill me up. Two is good if you come in hungry. They fill the tacos with a good amount of protein. Everything is flavorful. You don't need to add anything to it. I wish I had a bigger appetite but the drinks got me full so fast. During Covid they follow all the rules for not only their safety but yours too. Social distance and wear masks going to your table. You can remove masks at the table. Order at the front. My experience was overall good! I docked a point because it was a tad pricey for the food we got. The prawn tempura burrito was juicy and good. This Tacofino location is close to where I live. I've been this location before. My four out of five rating is based on the food and the food runner (who was friendly, other wise it would be minus 2 stars for a terrible cashier/order taker). The tortilla soup was excellent, the cod taco was quite good as was the guacamole and chips. The order taker/cashier however is one the worst I've ever met (and I notice other reviewers note this as well), very terse and unfriendly (patrons might as well order for delivery so that you don't have to be subjected this horrible service), next time I will look to see if she is working, if she is, I will not dine in. read more

$6 for a tofu taco?? I thought that was such a silly price to pay, but I ordered it anyway out of curiosity. Well, it was worth every penny! In fact, it was the best taco I have ever had. The taco was crispy and soft (they use soft tofu), topped with different spices and sauces, all melting together into a bundle of deliciousness. I would definitely come back for the tofu taco. The fish taco, however, was very average and not really worth the $6. The batter got mushy because of the sauce, and it was heavy and greasy. My stomach didn't love it after lol. My partner got the nachos ($16) with guacamole($4 extra). The nachos were packed with flavour loaded with cheddar and feta. It's made with deep fried crispy chips. It was pretty amazing on its own, and because the nachos were so flavourful, we felt that the guacamole served no purpose. In fact, the guacamole tasted very bland in comparison. I don't think their turnover for the guacamole is very high either. It came oxidized in an unattractive greyish green colour so you know it's been sitting there for a while. They mostly serve some creative burrito and taco flavours that taste amazing. I usually get the beef barbacoa burrito. The burrito shell is fresh, warm and soft. Beef is juicy and delicious, contrasted with the crunch of cabbage, much like a pulled pork sandwich. Inside has a bit of the Tofino beach vibe, and serving margaritas helps ;) This restaurant is based off a famous food truck from Tofino, which is still there. They've since popped up locations all over Vancouver and one in Victoria. They have happy hour from 3-6 on week days, mostly for discounted appetizers and drinks. As with anywhere, it can get busy here during peak lunch/dinner hours, but is fairly quiet otherwise. Parking sucks. It's busy and all metered along the Mainland/Hamilton stretch. read more

The tacos here are absolutely amazing! They all have a unique and different flavor depending on which tacos you order. My two favorite are the tuna and lemongrass chicken. The tuna is light and perfect for a hot summers day. It has a bit of a smoky flavor to it and does not need the addition of any other sauces. The lemongrass chicken is a bit heavier than the tuna. I've been to the original tacofino food truck in Tofino, and I have to say that I definitely prefer this location! This is one of the only good casual places for dinner compared to the other bougie restaurants in Yaletown. The lines were too crazy for the Tofino food truck (waiting 45min for lunch)! Here, there was no line on a Wednesday at 6pm. The menus are also a little bit different. I ordered the Lemongrass chicken taco and the tofu sweet potato taco. The chipotle mayo and the kale chips on the tofu taco were amazing! I highly recommend trying it. read more
