For what it is, Tacombi gets 4 stars in my book. It's not fancy: I really couldn't believe this was the same place that used to be Berlyn - they've totally stripped it down so it looks like a Mexican beachside shack on the inside, and the menus are paper strips that you use to place your order - but the food is pretty authentic to tacos I've had at beach shacks in Cozumel. Prices are pretty reasonable given the quality, even though the tacos are on the small side, but that's a plus in my book because I could try several different ones. My least favorite was the fried fish, but that may have been because I ate that last and was pretty full. The al pastor taco and shrimp tostada were my favorites. Wash your tacos down with a Rico: watermelon and lime infused vodka makes a great cocktail! read more

After a long night with my friend, we decided to go to the first place we see for food. We came across Tacombi, Fort Green, which had a very inviting outside seating area and friendly staff. Tacombi's guacamole is the probably the weakest guacamole I have ever had at a restaurant. It's the same quality as the the premise guacamole at Trader Joe's. The guacamole at Chipotle is much better than Tacombi's. read more

Beautiful space and really good service. The food was fresh and delicious but so way overpriced for really basic Mexican street food. Pitcher of sangria that is 75% ice for $42. By the glass it is $14 so overpriced however you look at it. Two tacos + guacamole and chips for an appetizer + sangria made for a pricy lunch. Came here the other night after watching a movie at B.A.M. It was after 11pm so I was impressed that they were still taking people for dinner. At this restaurant they give you paper menu's to fill out, then your server comes and grabs the menu from you. I ordered a pina colada for myself , and then two chicken tacos and a chicken quesadilla for my boyfriend and I to split. The quesadilla was amazing and you could tell that cheese was real cheese and not that artificial stuff, we ordered a second one. The tacos for me were just okay. My pina colada was really good though. It wasn't your average frozen drink. It tasted like an actual mixologist used natural flavors and real coconut water to make the pina colada flavor so I order a second one as well. We wanted to try another taco to see if it would make a difference , so we order a fried fish taco but that taco was still underwhelming. If I do ever come back to this spot, it would be for the quesadilla and the pina colada. However, this restaurant is a taco spot so their tacos SHOULD really be outstanding. read more

Reconsider. This is a place with loud style and little substance. The food makes for good high class Mexican for your mom and dad after a feel good documentary across the street at the BrooklynAcademyofMusic, also known as BAM. Because you will order chips and guacamole and a 16$ cocktail and a couple of tacos and rice and beans and they will come out to you at a staggered belabored pace that makes for a stutter-step meal complete with a sugary cocktail that leaves you sailing for the toilet bowl after a failed attempt at the trending Whole30 diet. Social currency is the new currency, so come here if you have little going on, but stay away if you have a rich social life and an identity to protect. These guys are doing a LOT right at this location. A little on the "fancy" side (ie not trad taqueria, but still street style). Both carnitas and al pastor are worth the trip, especially the carnitas. Great salsas as well. One thing guys-- why not two tortillas per taco? There's a lot of meat (a very good thing) but the tacos broke apart after sitting on the plate for a bit. However, this is NYC, so they get 4 starts and actually 4.5 would be closer. I was disappointed with this experience, although the food wasn't horrible, the overall experience was nothing to go back to. Went to a show across the street at BAM and decided to grab a bite. We ordered 3 different tacos and tortilla chips topped with cheese and beans, I also had a fruit drink of pineapple and ginger(non alcoholic). First the tacos, although it was prepared well it was on a single tortilla which fell apart soon as you picked it up, they should double it up. The Tacombi empire has expanded to Brooklyn, setting up across the street from BAM. This new location is on the smaller side, and I could see it being busy during peak hours, but I grabbed some mid-day tacos with friends during the week and it was pretty empty. The decor is a little more bare bones than other Tacombi locations, but there is also a cute patio that offers some outside seating. I went with the crispy fish, al pastor, and carnitas tacos. The crispy fish is usually my favorite taco to get at Tacombi, but it tasted a bit off this time around. The al pastor and carnitas were spot on. We didn't get drinks because we thought the prices were a bit higher than needed, and there's no happy hour, which is certainly a bummer. Regardless, Tacombi is a welcome addition to the Fort Greene area and another great option for tacos in the neighborhood. read more

Beware. If you order the angus beef barbacoa taco today you will be disappointed. I used to love this taco dish. I had it over 5 times at the location in Nolita. Me and my wife came out from the theater across the street for dinner. The first thing that popped to my head was the beef barbacoa taco. Wrong choice! Place is cute and good atmosphere. Wanted to try this place for a while since it used to be my old neighborhood. The tacos really didn't impressed me. The tacos are more on the just fancy tacos than a real one. Flavor wasn't bad but if you have tried a real taco, you'll know what I'm talking about. Also the tacos come with only one thing tortilla, the inside was really liquid so was hard to eat it with your hands. Have to use a fork for it. I will recommend this place for the drinks and the corn esquites. Drinks are really well made and worth the money. read more

Had a horrific experience last night, so bad that I am trying to find the business' owner and let them know the discrimination against those with immune disorders . My friends and I were excited for dinner and a show and to celebrate the end of her chemotherapy. We put our names on the list and were told it would be 20 minutes. Because a member of our party is immune comprised we had to sit outside. Cell service was bad so we asked if instead of texting host could wave to us (we were standing literally in front of stand.) she said no problem. well after 20 min I waved and host (who again was close enough that I could speak to her) said "you didn't come when I texted so I gave your table away." It was insane. When I reminded her of our discussion she said "oops! all I can do is seat you inside" (mind you there were multiple empty outside tables.) when I asked to speak to the manager, horrifically nasty dude told me all he could do was put us on the END of the list and the wait was now about 40 min. When I explained the situation the hostess said "well your friend should get better cell service." We ended up almost missing our show and started the evening off feeling bummed. Tacombi is by far the best Mexican food in the city. The Fort Greene location is one of my favorite places in Brooklyn. The food is spot on, fresh ingredients and you'll think your in Mexico (authentic)..the Management and staff are always great, friendly, and they go out of the way to make sure everything is perfect. read more

The taste was great. The tortilla taste amazing BUT.... there was not enough sauce. The seasoning was amazing and the meat had a good spicy kick to it but it would of been more worth it for 10$ if it was bigger and a bit warmer but I ordered it on postmates. Today was my second time at Tacombi and it was GREAT! I was warmly welcomed by the host, I think her name is Katherine. She's very polite and professional. We had guacamole for appetizer, it was good, even though I think it was lacking tomatoes. I asked why they don't put and the told me that that's the traditional way of making guac. I'm not complaining, it was great anyway. The chips that came with the guac were OUTSTANDING. Right amount of salt and spices, very crispy and I ordered more to get home. I had the pork tacos as well, for the second time and they were good as the first time I went there. I like consistency . The service was excellent. read more

Tacombi is a staple for our family. We have 2 year old twins and have been eating here since they could sit in a high chair. Not only does this establishment have a good inventory of high chairs readily available, they do not make you feel like a bother when bringing kids to eat here. If you have multiple children, this is a huge positive for any restaurant. The food is always consistent and delicious. Service is quick and food comes fast. First time visiting their new location in Fort Greene. Less seating than their manhattan locations but environment feels like you're in an authentic Mexican restaurant with blue tiles and fountain in the dining room. We sat in doors but their outdoor seating looks nice and is family friendly. Food is always good however I feel like it is pricey for tacos. $5-7 for each breakfast taco feels a little steep however I guess you're paying for quality and location. read more
