Had the tortilla soup, veggie burrito and chips with the fireball salsa. Tortilla soup lacked veggies but the flavor was good, not overly salty or spicy. Just wish it had a bit more substance to it. Chips were good, possibly house made? Their house salsa left a lot to be desired - way too thin - but, again, good flavor. The fireball salsa had nice heat and an earthy taste that I enjoyed. I assume it comes from the use of dried peppers? Only note on that one is that it's too blended. I'm guessing their salsas are more sauces than dipping condiments? Either way, flavor was there. Went to this location one time before officially leaving Robbinsville. While it is bigger and has some decent interior as well as ambiance compared to the Hightstown location, it wasn't the best experience. This location felt more expensive than the Hightstown location and it can be a pain to find parking at this location too because the parking lot can be small. The food at this location overall is fine but nothing super special. Service overall is good as expected but there isn't much else to say or talk about otherwise. read more

I've driven by this place a half a million times, but I never went in there for the simply ridiculous reason that the sign in front of the joint looked like a sign for a Taco Bell sort of place (for the record, I like Taco Bell). I'm glad I did. Although I really dislike any place that has digital ordering (just give me the paper menu, please), I ordered the Baja Fish Taco meal. I was just trying to get regular Fish Tacos, but made a fortuitous mistake while using the ordering tablet. When the tacos were brought out to me, I saw good sized chunks of fried fish in a warm flour tortilla that were generously topped with guacamole, a tasty tropical fruit flavored sauce, corn and big chunks of pineapple. It was not something to be eaten daintily, and multiple napkins were required to finish the tacos off, but they were very good--some of the best fish tacos I've had on this coast. They're not 100% traditional Mexican, but they're not trying to be. They're just trying to be good...and they were. The tacos were also very filling, and I had to work to get the rice and beans finished. There was nothing remarkable about the rice and beans, but I don't leave food behind. I had the chips and salsa here for the first time today and I do not recommend them. Firstly, the chips are too thick for my liking, but that's preference. Secondly, it's not the typical red salsa you'd get, but the green salsa with pico de Gallo in it. I wouldn't get it again. Also, one of my chips in my chip bag had a bit of sour cream on it (how???) which I thought was kind of unsanitary because why are the chips touching other food. Fried Oreos! TacoRito has churros and mini donuts as well but these Fried Oreos are the bomb and then some! I didn't take pictures before I ate them. Yes they are horrible for you but they were done sooo well with the confectioners sugar on top. There were 5 of them in the order which I split with my co-workers. The entrees here are huge. I myself chowed down on the shrimp enchiladas and also split an order of empanadas of which there were three. Just the entree itself was more than enough to be honest. The next time I visit I'll either skip the empanadas or the Fried Oreos OR maybe I'll just skip the entree and just get the empanadas and Fried Oreos. My wife and I ordered delivery from TacoRito recently and definitely enjoyed our food. I got an insane number of toppings on my steak tacos (and my food came with two sides!), so I was pretty shocked at the sheer weight of the takeout container when I picked it up. I ate everything but I definitely should have saved at least half of it for later - so much food! I liked pretty much everything, but I was particularly struck by the taste of the black beans. They tasted like legit Mexican black beans (as opposed to some other large chain restaurants, where the black beans are fine but maybe not as flavorful). Also, as another reviewer pointed out, the fireball salsa was surprisingly spicy :) Considering the amount of food, I would say that my tacos were priced fairly. I am a fan of their Hightstown location and even a bigger one of this larger and more upscale shop. I hadn't even realized they had one here until I noticed it on Yelp, despite driving past a few times recently. Trish and I agreed it would be a perfect Sunday lunch. The space itself is quite nice, with a large wall featuring air plants and assorted succulents in cute containers, several rustic wooden tables and chairs, and even a granite bar( Byob here so just to eat from) As you enter you proceed to the counter to order, give your phone # so they can text you when it is ready and wait in the dining room. Trish selected her usual Mex choice, a beef and shrimp burrito. It was definitely large and looked respectable, she enjoyed it but said she might change up some ingredients if ordering again. My chicken street tacos were excellent. This was pulled meat that was sautéed in a red sauce and topped with several things: lightly pickled cabbage, grilled onions, pico de Gallo, avocado crema and cheese. It sounds like a lot going on but each ingredient contributed to the whole, even the very good white corn tortillas. Mine came with yellow rice and black beans too, they were ok but I appreciated the added sides, many places don't serve any sides when you order tacos. We shared a horchata, it was flavorful but a bit too sweet, some ice would have helped. A small order of guacamole was decent but might be omitted in future visits. My tacos were definitely 5 stars, maybe the best chicken tacos I've had in recent memory, but other aspects of the meal keep me in 4 star territory. I'm not a fan of the ordering setup, it was slow when we visited but during busy times I think it might be confusing or inefficient. I also was not a fan of the automated CC terminal. At the end of the transaction you are prompted to tip either 10, 15 or 20% with no other options except no tip. Based on no servers and the fact that you bus your own stuff, even 10% seems high. This is a Chipotle type business that to me is much better than that chain, but I feel there are very good options nearby that are more hole in the wall. I will return here to try their pupusas and other taco options, but I won't forget the more metro based and more authentic shops either. read more

Very good food - it didn't taste like it was from a franchise at all. This restaurant reminds me of a "swanky" 'Chipotle.' (I love the area it is located in). You decide on a burrito, taco, or a bowl base, and then choose your toppings from there. Give your cell number for texting purposes, for when your order is ready to be picked up. We started with an appetizer of guacamole and chips. I didn't like the guacamole, which stinks for me because I LOVE guacamole. I'm not sure if it was the white onions or something else? (I didn't try the chips). I chose a half steak / half shrimp burrito for my lunch. It was nice and big!!! The shrimp were good and grilled and the steak was pretty good (not great). Nothing was over salted, which is huge to me. However, I had stomach pains 15 minutes after leaving and then again at home. I didn't eat or drink much differently earlier in the day, sooooo . . . . . just sayin'. Vince had chicken "street" tacos, which he liked an awful lot. We ordered a "Horchata". Only $2 for a pretty darn big cup. I took a few sips - it was good but overly sweet, even for this sweet tooth! The staff was friendly, and even the bathrooms were clean. I've been passing TacoRito on the way home from work for a few months and I finally decided to stop on my last day in town. They're located off a main road but there is some parking behind them and some of the other nearby shops. You order at the counter, and then you sit down and they'll bring your food to you. I ordered the cheese enchiladas, and asked for cheese only (no meat). They were topped with lettuce, onion, and sour cream (three things I'd have asked them to leave out if I'd known). They also came with rice and black beans. Once I'd finished picking off my unwanted toppings, the meal was really tasty. Bonus points for having a few good varieties of hot sauces available by the plasticware. The four enchiladas were pretty small. Service was pretty quick, but I paid the same price that I would have if I was at a sit-down restaurant. There also wasn't any complementary chips and salsa included with it. Overall, I'd return again if in the area, but if I had to choose between TacoRito and a sit-down restaurant, I'd probably go with the latter. read more

I read excellent reviews for this Mexican spot and decided to try it out myself. I ordered the crazy nachos and a tofu rice bowl. The crazy nachos are loaded with melted cheese, beans, lettuce, pico de gallo, corn, pickled and fresh jalapeño, sour cream and guacamole. The chips were super crispy and crunchy. The toppings didn't make the chips soggy, which is always appreciated. However, the tofu rice bowl was below average. I chose the spicy chipotle rice, beans, various toppings and salsas. I was extremely disappointed because the rice and beans were bland. The tofu was lightly seasoned which didn't provide any flavor. The salsas held it together somewhat. They made up for it with all the shredded chicken they put in the bowl though. They forgot sour cream on my order which was surprising as they went through so much time to take the order. This was our 3rd or 4th time at TacoRito and every time we have enjoyed it. Each time we dined in but they also offer online ordering for takeout which seems to be very popular. All the food is freshly prepared to order and you sit down at your table and wait for them to bring it out to you. (My favorite are the crazy empanadas) They have a very beautiful and clean dining room and there's a parking lot right behind the store front which is great considering this store is located on the always busy Route 33. TacoRito has surpassed Mexican Mariachi Grill for the title of favorite Mexican restaurant that is a convenient drive from my home. A high honor, I know. For starters, they consistently get their orders right. What I ask for, I get, nothing left out and everything fulfilled as requested. Seems like a small thing, I know, but it's apparently quite a stretch for their competition. It's a lot more than simply filling the orders that makes TacoRito so good, though. The food is solid, and the serving sizes are huge. I've joked about getting food the size of a football before, but my Chipotle burrito was literally the size of a football, and it had to have weighed three pounds. It also had quite a bit of heat to it, which is a nice change to most places around here that cater to a, shall we say, more timid palate. While the burritos are huge and delicious, there are many other excellent choices here, and that's another part of what makes them so good: their menu is just plain fun. Whether it's the Fatrito (a fried version of the burrito covered, and I mean COVERED in liquid cheese), the street-style tacos, rice bowls, empanadas, flautas, Mexican Jambalya, or their delicious Churros or Fried Oreos for dessert, most everything they do here as a unique spin on it. I stopped in for lunch today and ordered three chicken tacos and a side of homemade donuts. All the staff smiled and was very receptive. My order took about 10 mins, and a text message was sent when it was ready. I loved the text message pick up. It's nice to be able to sit and relax instead of hovering while they prepare the food. The portions were huge compared to some other taco places! I think I could have easily done with only two. The black beans and rice were pretty standard, but hot and fresh. The homemade donuts were awesome! They reminded by of Chinese donuts they have at Chinese Buffets. I believe the order came with 8, I had to bring most of them home including 1 taco. It made a perfect late nights snack. This is a privately owned restaurant with a second location in Hightstown. This has become our favorite Mexican restaurant. We found it right before COVID hit and we are glad because it has gotten us through a world of takeout food. We haven't received a single wrong order and are always happy with our food. We also order it whenever we have company. They typically finish making your food well before the estimated time so go early to pick it up. If you don't try the crazy empanadas you are truly missing out. They are fantastic. I'll try to update my pictures when I order next as we have tried much more than this, but the burritos, tacos and burrito bowls have always hit the spot for us.
