Mushroom quesadillas

Tacos 1986 in Sherman Oaks is definitely worth checking out especially on Taco Tuesday (if you eat meat) I showed up during what I expected to be a busy time, but the wait was almost nonexistent. My food was ready in less than five minutes, which was impressive. Fatima, the cashier, really made the experience stand out. She was incredibly pleasant and patient, answered all my questions without rushing me, and made ordering easy. Great customer service goes a long way, and she absolutely delivered. The tacos themselves are pretty good. The menu is on the smaller side, but they do a solid job covering different options, including vegetarian choices. I ordered the mushroom quesadilla tacos, and they came with guacamole, cheese, cilantro, and onion simple but flavorful and satisfying. Overall, I'm giving them 3 stars mainly because the customer service and speed were phenomenal. Pair that with reasonable prices and solid food, and you've got a pretty good taco spot in Sherman Oaks. I'll definitely be back. Wish they had veggie options for taco Tuesday.

Since discovering this taco shop, I've enjoyed going to the area whenever I have to. Flavorful tacos, excellent tortillas, and fresh salsas. The servers are great and service is fast.

1986 Taco's is a wonderful spot to chill and enjoy a solid taco Tuesday or a breakfast burrito with the best salsas blends in LA. They are a fun kind staff who are used to a fast turn around and somewhat in a hurry customers. I am a fan of this spot and kinda love sitting outside while enjoying. I hope to see more locations continue to pop up for us all around town.

The tacos were ok but really can't compare to other LA taco places. The meats were all lacking flavor, and the tacos are underwhelming for the price. I wouldn't get the bowl again because it's mostly rice, not much meat and the only other topping is beans

Really bland. Tortillas was undercooked

I went here before and it was just OK so I wanted to give it another chance, but this time the meat was so bland and the tortilla was undercooked. Definitely would not going back. support more of the taco stands.

Amazing taste! The flavor was packed & the salsa added some really good heat to the burrito. Food did not take long at all. Definitely will be coming back here to try the other foods.

This is a quick grab-and-go taco spot with a window to order/pickup and a couple of tables to stand and eat - works for me. There's tacos, quesadillas (a taco with cheese on it), horchata, and a variety of other items on the menu. I have only ordered the tacos and quesadillas. I love the meats, I love the generous helping of guacamole, I love the sauces available on the side, but I am not crazy about the cold tomato / pico de gallo that almost looks like chunky tomato soup. Service is quick and efficient. Tortillas are made fresh. The people here are helpful No restroom access for patrons, given it's inside their little kitchen area. Parking is in a shared lot that can get quite busy, given the variety of businesses. Some spots are reserved for specific stores.

Now when you pull up originally you might think, "am I in the right place" but once you park and get into the courtyard, it is LOVELY! Amazing ambience! There is a bocce set up, string lights. It is a little slice of oasis in the middle of the fashion district. The restaurant itself - beautiful. I couldn't ask for more. Absolutely perfect in my book. Beautiful plants hanging, perfect Spanish music in the background (any place playing Natalia LaFourcade is a win). The drinks were great! I had the jungle bird which was fun. Food was so good too. The whipped beans are the star! We had the guacamole which was tasty, great tostadas with it. The arepas were good but the pork belly was a little too fatty (I know pork belly is always fatty) to the point the fat muted the flavored for the arepa a bit, but still delicious. The empanadas were great and as someone who lived in South America and ate empanadas every day, these really took me back to my Paraguay days. The squash blossoms were light and perfectly fried. Unfortunately my friends had gone to Funke the night before so they were comparing the squash blossoms and Funke won out, but they still liked Dama's! Small plates were enough for the 3 of us. The service was quick and attentive. Parking was easy for us. I will definitely be back!

The staff are lovely humans who really seem to care about their customers. We have some faves on the menu. The bean dip is fabulous and I'm addicted to the baby gem salad. They have recently amped up the filling in the delicious crispy squash blossoms and I love the acidity and heat. The fish is also a hit in my books. One dish that doesn't work for me is the lamb chops, which is a shame since it's my favorite protein. I've ordered them multiple times with clear instructions on temperature and have found them overcooked and tough. The beef tostada was just ok. Whilst I loved the pickled veg on the side, the beef was underseasoned. It wasn't bad - just not up to the standard of other dishes. The vibe in the place is welcoming and the restaurant is nicely appointed. We will continue to be regulars and it's really worth trying if you haven't been yet.

All dishes were shareable and there were certainly some remarkable ones. Starting with my most favorite the ceviche bites (I can't tell you exactly what it's called on the menu, but it was one bite that left you enticed for more!) if you like fish, certainly a must. My second favorite, the roasted rainbow carrots (the salsa macha was palatable all by itself!!). Third favorite, grilled chicken (again, not sure the name on the menu but, it was so juicy and perfect with the housemade tortillas). Other menu goodies, the steak (ribeye bites) tortillas with salsa/guacamole, carnitas (looked good), cactus appetizer, and cheese (and cactus?) quesadilla. Unfortunately, I think the menu was somewhat curated for the private party but I CERTAINLY think it's worth exploring. A lively atmosphere to add to it all!

The building is an original piece of the City's history, boasting a menu that features their famous burritos that vary in size from a regular to a huge party size beast that can feed several. I tried the Hollenbeck and the Okie burritos on two separate occasions via pick up, as aforementioned, the service was quick, convenient and the pick up window is seamless, parking is located next to the structure and I haven't had problems getting there. Hollenbeck was good but I definitely enjoyed the Okie burrito more, I ordered the "original" size once and didn't seem to learn my lesson the second time, these burritos can feed two in Original size. They offer a "Mini" version which would be satisfactory for one person. My favorite thing about these burritos is how "home-made" they are, the salsas and meats are fresh and taste like they came out of an abuelitas kitchen. I still need to try the crunchy tacos and nachos which look great, I recommend trying this classic establishment at least once if you're in the area.
