I want to love Hugo's Tacos, but most times it just disappoints. On my most recent visit I ordered one fried tofu taco, and one potato taco, with a side of rice and beans. The fried tofu had zero seasoning, such a shame! The potato is like stewed potatoes, and with very little flavor. The rice and beans were also quite bland, and the pico was like tomato water. Also, not sure when they closed the small dining area, but now there's no inside seating, bathroom/or place to wash your hands. Bummer on so many levels. read more

Usually have a good experience every time my family comes here, but unfortunately for the very first time, we had a bad experience. From the service to the food quality. Usually when we get tacos here, it's served hot! I'll even take warm, but to have cold meat on a taco?? And then the churros must've been sitting out all day because it was HARD! I got those for my kids but they couldn't even enjoy it. The churros were actually warm but it was too hard. We literally place the same order every time we come here so I know the quality of their food. Which is why this visit was so disappointing! And the reason we didn't drive back to show them the quality of the food or try and get a refund for it was because we had already entered the freeway when I opened everything. These are the exact same tacos that they've give out on the street and they want 5 bucks they taco I can go eat lunch for $5 here for the same price I would have to spend $15 and there's stuff ain't that special. I came here with my dad when our power was out to grab some breakfast. I drive past Hugo's all the time and they've been in business for all my life so we decided to check it out. We came on a Wednesday and they have an all day Wednesday special of burritos being $9 or $10 but this seems like their normal burrito prices so I was a bit confused by the deal?? Parking is challenging; there is a way to access parking in the back if you go through the small side street before Coldwater and you can also park across the street on Coldwater for free 1 hour parking. There is limited outdoor seating available. Breakfast burrito (with pinto beans and pico de gallo) 3.5/5, ok so this would have been a 4 if I ordered a spicier sauce than pico de gallo. Came here a few nights ago when craving a burrito and I'm so thankful for the affordability and quality of the food here. I also love that they have vegan options. It's a cute spot where you can order at the window and then pick it up minutes later, as they are always really quick to make the food. I got the soyrizo veggie burrito and loved the flavor and heartiness of the soyrizo and how it was spiced and seasoned. It definitely dominated the burrito but the veggies stood out in having their own seasonings and being cooked to perfection. The beans and rice were also very hearty and really mixed well with everything. I got an avocado salsa to add in and it really had a nice creamy buttery flavor to the burrito. I also really like how they included some chips, which were perfectly crispy. Everything tasted fresh and it seemed like a lot of care was taken in making the burrito. The service was very friendly and accommodating. There was plenty of outdoor seating when I arrived, but I opted to eat my meal in the comfort of my home. Parking was super easy in their lot, although since they are located on the busy street of Coldwater right by the 101 exit, I struggled to get out of the lot. Ordered 4 chicken tacos w green salsa Ordered 4 chicken tacos w pico since apparently the red salsa is extremely hot Came with a small side of tortilla chips Ordered sour cream and rice and beans. The tacos were dry it hurt my soul. I guess my expectations of Mexican food is for it to be flavorful, juicy, and moist. Do not expect taqueria style tacos. I had the potato taco with a soft shell and honey chipotle salsa-- my favorite part was definitely the salsa! It wasn't too spicy and tasted really good. The taco itself didn't feel exceptional but was enjoyable, I think if I went again I'd try one of the meat options as the potato may not have been the best filling to showcase their capabilities. Service was good, the staff was friendly and my order came out quickly! I was pleasantly surprised by the dining room. It had AC which was definitely appreciated over the summer, and the decorations were cool. And I was glad to see that they had games and books to borrow while dining at Hugo's Tacos! 18$ for a carne asada burrito is crazy, I would understand if it was a fat burrito but it was standard size , the flavor was so acidic I could not enjoy the meat or other ingredients past all of the acid tasted more like vinegar . The Salsa on the side was a half full ramekin not even full to the top , no sides , radish . This little taco stand is conveniently located right off the 101 freeway. I usually come here on Tuesday's for their any taco $3 special, which is served all day. We ordered a trio of tacos. The flavors were so so but they weren't bad at all, and I particularly liked the salsa it comes with. The potato taco was ok, nothing special. The service is good and they added additional indoor seating with plenty of tables . The menu has a variety of popular Mexican food specialties, including daily specials. Heading out of the San Fernando Valley and back to Burbank, my car starts to act up around Coldwater Canyon. I guess me AND my car are thinking about Hugo's for some awesome Mexican food. Two great Hugo secrets: (1) their parking lot is huge, it will hold 1000 cars, so go around, behind the restaurant, and rest your Lambo; and (2) after you order, there's a huge dining room behind the kitchen (super clean every time I go) with great A/C and games to play. Connect Four, anyone? Forget the to-go order next time -- grab a table and enjoy your hot food hot. The food is awesome here and reasonably priced, but I have a favorite. it's the breakfast quesadilla. Somehow the eggs inside are 10x fluffier than I can ever make it at home. Get it with some chips, rice and beans. No soda fountain, which is a bummer, but all the sodas you want in cans. An LA mainstay for good reason. I have never had a bad meal here! read more

I have Celia disease and I'll let Hugo's Tacos know before I ordered and called in the delivery through UberEATS and they were so accommodating and knew exactly what celiac was asked if I had a wheat allergy or just celiac and I told them and I ordered my burrito and it was so delicious and I didn't get sick and I was so grateful for all of the knowledge that they had and that they've been trained to know what protocol is for the disease.
