Decided to give this place a try, and I'll just say I'd never back nor recommend to anyone. For starters, the food was okay. Except they got my order completely wrong as if it was someone else's order. When I went back to return it, the girl calling out the order #'s, she seemed very bothered & snatched the plate out of my hand when I politely pointed out my entire order was wrong. I was there with my daughter eating and there was a man smoking a cigarette while waiting for his order and his smoke was coming towards us. Came here a few nights ago when craving a burrito and I'm so thankful for the affordability and quality of the food here. I also love that they have vegan options. It's a cute spot where you can order at the window and then pick it up minutes later, as they are always really quick to make the food. I got the soyrizo veggie burrito and loved the flavor and heartiness of the soyrizo and how it was spiced and seasoned. It definitely dominated the burrito but the veggies stood out in having their own seasonings and being cooked to perfection. The beans and rice were also very hearty and really mixed well with everything. I got an avocado salsa to add in and it really had a nice creamy buttery flavor to the burrito. I also really like how they included some chips, which were perfectly crispy. Everything tasted fresh and it seemed like a lot of care was taken in making the burrito. The service was very friendly and accommodating. There was plenty of outdoor seating when I arrived, but I opted to eat my meal in the comfort of my home. Parking was super easy in their lot, although since they are located on the busy street of Coldwater right by the 101 exit, I struggled to get out of the lot. I came here with my dad when our power was out to grab some breakfast. I drive past Hugo's all the time and they've been in business for all my life so we decided to check it out. We came on a Wednesday and they have an all day Wednesday special of burritos being $9 or $10 but this seems like their normal burrito prices so I was a bit confused by the deal?? Parking is challenging; there is a way to access parking in the back if you go through the small side street before Coldwater and you can also park across the street on Coldwater for free 1 hour parking. There is limited outdoor seating available. Breakfast burrito (with pinto beans and pico de gallo) 3.5/5, ok so this would have been a 4 if I ordered a spicier sauce than pico de gallo. The tacos were dry it hurt my soul. I guess my expectations of Mexican food is for it to be flavorful, juicy, and moist. Do not expect taqueria style tacos. They don't give the carrots and jalepenos or grilled onions on the side. Chicken was salty. The pico de gallo on the tacos was NOT IT. Maybe order something else, like the burrito. God I want to cry. I have Celia disease and I'll let Hugo's Tacos know before I ordered and called in the delivery through UberEATS and they were so accommodating and knew exactly what celiac was asked if I had a wheat allergy or just celiac and I told them and I ordered my burrito and it was so delicious and I didn't get sick and I was so grateful for all of the knowledge that they had and that they've been trained to know what protocol is for the disease. I had the potato taco with a soft shell and honey chipotle salsa-- my favorite part was definitely the salsa! It wasn't too spicy and tasted really good. The taco itself didn't feel exceptional but was enjoyable, I think if I went again I'd try one of the meat options as the potato may not have been the best filling to showcase their capabilities. Service was good, the staff was friendly and my order came out quickly! I was pleasantly surprised by the dining room. It had AC which was definitely appreciated over the summer, and the decorations were cool. And I was glad to see that they had games and books to borrow while dining at Hugo's Tacos! This little taco stand is conveniently located right off the 101 freeway. I usually come here on Tuesday's for their any taco $3 special, which is served all day. We ordered a trio of tacos. The flavors were so so but they weren't bad at all, and I particularly liked the salsa it comes with. The potato taco was ok, nothing special. The service is good and they added additional indoor seating with plenty of tables . The menu has a variety of popular Mexican food specialties, including daily specials. The cashier at the service counter was welcoming and friendly. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to come here, but it's solid if you're in area and looking for a quick bite. read more

Heading out of the San Fernando Valley and back to Burbank, my car starts to act up around Coldwater Canyon. I guess me AND my car are thinking about Hugo's for some awesome Mexican food. Two great Hugo secrets: (1) their parking lot is huge, it will hold 1000 cars, so go around, behind the restaurant, and rest your Lambo; and (2) after you order, there's a huge dining room behind the kitchen (super clean every time I go) with great A/C and games to play. Connect Four, anyone? Forget the to-go order next time -- grab a table and enjoy your hot food hot. The food is awesome here and reasonably priced, but I have a favorite. it's the breakfast quesadilla. Somehow the eggs inside are 10x fluffier than I can ever make it at home. Get it with some chips, rice and beans. No soda fountain, which is a bummer, but all the sodas you want in cans. An LA mainstay for good reason. I have never had a bad meal here! read more

I've been a regular customer at Hugo's Tacos, but my experience with a server named Karla left me very frustrated. I ordered a cheese tacos and it came out with cold cheese, salsa, and tortilla. When I explained that I prefer the cheese melted (as l've had here before), Karla immediately snapped back, "We do not do that here." When I mentioned I had been served this way previously, she repeated herself in an even sharper tone, then yanked the plate from in front of me to take it back. l understand everyone has bad days, but this was uncalled for and incredibly unprofessional. This is not the first time l've experienced this type of attitude with Karla, but this time it was so rude that it completely ruined the experience for me. I never feel good writing bad reviews but this was just awful. The breakfast burrito has no flavor, very bland and they also charge an extra 6 dollars to add the meat in which there was barely any added. We should have known considering it was empty with no other customers. A 20 dollar burrito.....felt like we were being robbed. First-timer here...got the salsa burger and wasn't mad at it. Everything tasted really fresh and was clearly made to order. This quality is usually very hard to make a criticism, but a taco/burger stand that tastes really clean is just a little strange. My burger didn't have a ton of personality to it. It almost ate like a steak salad with buns. Again, not the worst thing in the world. I at least would prefer this to something that's been sitting out or lacked fresh ingredients. But the patty was a nice and meaty one, especially for being the lone patty in the burger. The salsa and secret sauce (think this was some sort of vinegarette) made a good deal of difference. And I'll be sure to ask for salt on the fries next time. Loved the fresh-outta-the-fryer temp, but the fried potatoes needed some salt. I'm not surprised plenty of people frequent this stand. The good outweighs the not-so-bad. The passable food elements just need a little more pizazz, and Hugo's is in there. Looking forward to trying the Torta Ahogada next time. read more
