We have always been big fans of this franchise when visiting LA Pros - very quick and friendly service. Great portions and reasonable prices Cons - none A reliable delicious street taco place that always hits the spot!

The asada tacos are 4/5 but my kids hated their chicken tacos and chicken quesadilla. They didn't even finish them. They also complained the rice was hard.

Fresh handmade tortillas made per order. By far, the best quality carne asada tacos and pastor in The Valley and Ventura County. Outstanding, fast service. Nice seating areas. Lots of free parking. Fresh salsa bar. What more can you hope for. I highly recommend Tacos 1986 on Lindley Ave.

Sadly, I was very underwhelmed by this location. I ordered a 2 taco carne asada combo. As much as I love avocado, the taco was like 60% guacamole so already the ratio of meat to toppings was off. While the beans were fine, the rice was extremely bland. The green salsa was the consistency of a watery green juice, not salsa verde. I've been to their Westwood location, and I've had their tacos at Smorgasburg before so I know their food is generally good-- not sure what's going on at this location. Next time a taco craving hits I think I'll go to a food truck!

I have passed by 1986 a bunch of times and I always said I would stop by. Tacos have always been a great love of mine. I helped open Cocina Condesa, a from scratch Mexican restaurant in Studio City and worked at Cilantro Line in DTLA. Mexican food has always been part of my life. Walking up to the menu for Tacos 1986 I was a little disappointed. They only had Chicken, Pork and Steak. Those of you who know me understand my love for lengua and super crispy Tripas. The steak tacos were delicious. I am not going to lie, I wanted to try their salsa but after cooking for 11 hours I sat down and I didn't move. The burrito was well made and filled with flavor. I opted for steak for this as well. All in all I would go back especially because there was another Robert there taking my order.

Ordered a pick up order from "Tacos 1986" a block away from CalState Northridge. The order consisted of carne asada & chicken tacos, baked beans, quesadillas, rice, tortillas and "agua Fresca". At the time of the pick up 6:00 p.m the area and business getting busy, but there were plenty of parking spots on the back of the building. The order was ready and the attendant explained about the package and condiments. The area is small perfect to stop-n-go .

First time trying out this taco spot, doesn't have much expectations for it but it definitely didn't disappoint. I got the chicken taco and it's was perfect! Lots of flavor and moist, the corn tortilla tasted home made, highly recommend. It's a small spot with plenty of seating and the service was quick and easy!

We've been here several times and my husband Mike LOVES this place! Super friendly staff, easy parking lot behind the stand, and convenient online ordering. Limited outdoor seating on the side, but we usually take our food togo anyway. You really can't go wrong with the burritos or the tacos. Just a heads up they put guacamole sauce on pretty much everything, so if you're not a fan, make sure to let them know. I love avocados, so I'm more than happy about it! The Pork Al Pastor and carne asada are both delicious and packed with meat, and the horchata and Jamaica drinks are so good. We'll definitely be back!

My car broke down and we were on our way to a restaurant. Luckily Tacos 1986 saved the afternoon! My mom ordered a Mulita combo, and I ordered a Perron combo. kind service and a very cute spot! Best red beans and rice I have had in some time! Maxi shared with Gramma the chicken. While I tore up the Steak. Sometimes fate calls you to Taco 1986. The red in my mom's outfit called for a pick of Baby, and Gran Mama!

I tried their al pastor burrito and I'm sorry but it was not good. I've had better burritos from a drive thru. Street vendors make them better. It was dry and BLAND. The tortilla also tasted off. Idk if it was just a one off that day but I wouldn't get that again.

Cute little taco joint with easy parking and a great location. Decent service. BUT If you like eating cardboard tortillas with absolutely zero flavor in sight then definitely try this for your next meal! The tortillas tasted like rubber. The meat was so boring it blended in with the rubber tortillas. Honestly this entire meal was so bland I'd rather eat dog food. I tried chicken, asada and pastor tacos (NONE of them had flavor) And a mulita, just look at the photos it was a soggy tasteless mess. I wouldn't even take my child to this place. Awful.

This location is right across the street from CSUN. There's ample amount of parking on the street. They provided quick service and amazing customer service. Jose was excellent and very helpful. The carne asada tacos were delicious! They have outdoor seating only. I will definitely be back!

In a city where Mexican food is probably the primary dining option; one might think that it is all…read morethe same: that a taco here is the same as a taco there. This line of thinking is completely false as each region and state in Mexico has distinct flavors, cultural preparations and unique ingredients. Luckily in the City of Angels; we have access to all of these styles whereas everyone can pick and choose their favorite! I was in the North Hills/Mission Hills area and decided Mexican was going to be the meal of the day - and thanks to the trusty Yelp app: Tacos al Tijuanense was the winner to satisfy my hunger pang. If you are a longtime LA resident or born-and-raised within the city limits and can swear to Tacos al Tijuanense sounding familiar/remembering that it was a food truck... Then your memory doesn't deceive you. Tacos al Tijuanense birthed as a food truck in 1987 quickly gaining popularity for its smoked meats and Tijuana-inspired flavors serving tacos, vampiros, quesadillas, birria tacos, etc; loaded with fresh toppings and offering a variety of meats for the protein selection. The LA love for Tacos al Tijuanense caused such popularity that the food truck expanded into brick-and-mortar locations with several now spread throughout the city. The North Hills location of Tacos al Tijuanense holds real estate near the Woodly/Nordhoff intersection in a small strip plaza shopping center that seems half sleepy and half eyebrow-raising. But, as most of us know, the hidden gems are usual the best spots so don't be deterred by such businesses like the sketchy massage parlor next door. In fact, diners will be pleasantly surprised when crossing the threshold of the entrance to find an airy interior with high ceilings, natural light, wooden accents and the combination of a trendy- almost gastropub sticking to the food truck theme (there is even a food truck motif behind the order counter) that feels like a party. Tacos al Tijuanense is not what you would expect from the outside! Tacos al Tijuanense is fast-casual meaning you order behind the counter and take a number to the table of your choice. After browsing the menu, my boyfriend chose a Quesadilla (13" tortilla filled with protein of your choice, jack cheese, cilantro and salsa with my boyfriend picking chicken - $13) and a Vampiro (toasted corn tortilla layered with jack cheese, choice of meat, onions, cilantro and salsa with al pastor - $3). For my order, I also went with a Vampiro but with chicken while also ordering Nachos to share with carne asada. When our plates arrived, we were surprised to see the size of the portions. Everything at Tacos al Tijuanense is large and in charge and they most certainly do not skimp! The fillings are overflowing with bright, fresh ingredients, toppings are numerous and the size overall makes everything shareable. My Vampiro was crisp with delicious guacamole that added a refreshing element and tender, tasty chicken. My favorite was my boyfriend's Quesadilla which was gooey, warm and perfect. You can't go wrong with a quesadilla! But we have to talk about the nachos because these nachos are HUGE! This is party size and could generously feed three people. The carne asada was heavenly and the chips tasted homemade. The only slightly "meh" factor was that the cheese atop the nachos was canned cheese and we would have preferred melted shredded cheese. This wouldn't have been such an issue had the canned cheese been in a rational amount but it seemed like a Costco-sized can poured onto these chips! These nachos were hidden under cheese glop! Regardless, they were still delicious. Tacos al Tijuanense holds true to its almost 40-year-old fame with affordable prices, delicious food, large portions giving you a bang for your buck and a surprisingly inviting ambiance. Tacos al Tijuanense is definitely recommended and the North Hills location is much recommended despite its odd plaza placement.

We got six tacos between the asada and al pastor, plus a queso burrito with asada. Everything was really good. My fiancée noticed that they were making the tortillas by hand right there, which was a nice touch and definitely made a difference. I especially liked the al pastor, and the queso burrito was really good too and pretty filling. I also liked that they actually have a big menu with the prices clearly posted. Not every taco stand makes the pricing that easy to see. The tacos were $3.25 each and the queso burrito was $13.50. Our total was $36.22 after tax. I will say the tacos are a little pricier than what we're personally used to. At some of the taco stands we normally go to, we're used to paying around $2 to $3 per taco, so $3.25 stood out a little. That said, the food was good enough that I didn't feel disappointed with what we paid. The only other small thing was the salsa. They ask if you want everything on the tacos and put the salsa on for you, while we're more used to taco stands giving you salsa on the side at the end. I'm sure you can ask for some separately, but since we were taking everything home and didn't ask, I just used some salsa we already had. Not really a complaint, just something I'd remember next time. Overall, we really liked the food and would come back. Since we're still trying different taco stands around the area, we'll probably keep exploring too, but Angel's was a good first stop.

Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but I don't think the food justified the price
