The place is cute, the staff is friendly and the margaritas are popping but the food is NOT good. They also have a nice patio. I ordered a quesa Birria and they either, don't user the right cheese or maybe mines was just too stiff. I go bite the first bite and there was a long hair cooked in the taco and in my mouth!!!!! I spit it out and I exchanged it for another order. Then I ordered churros and ice cream but it took so long that my guests left so I told them to cancel the order. It wasn't even packed. I was excited to try out this place in the tunnels, but getting there I realized the menu board is hard to read and understand. It's more of just a list without prices or customizations. I wish I would have looked up what to get beforehand, but alas when at work and crunched on time I was not prepared. I quickly ordered the shrimp quesadilla which was good, but not great. They were out of the green salsa I wanted, so maybe that would have enhanced the flavor. There was a long wait at lunchtime, but there were lots of places to sit. Overall it did the job of filling me up at lunch time, but for the cost and wait, I would eat elsewhere. Any day that we cater Tacos a Go Go breakfast tacos for meetings in the office is a good day. Efficient, good value for good portions, clean and organized when orders arrive (clearly market with ingredients), packed with plenty of sauce, etc. If there are any leftover, it's just as good the next day after some heating. I like it so much...I went twice in three days for breakfast! Breakfast tacos are a huge deal in Houston. And to be honest, Houston is HELLA confusing to this New Yorker. I stayed in the downtown area so I could walk places. But places were hard to find because of the intricate tunnel and underground system. I suppose it makes sense because it's so flippin hot there. I digress. We stumbled upon this accidentally, and by stumbled I mean it was underground and we almost missed it. What is it with these mini malls underneath corporate buildings?! Anyhoo, when I did find Tacos A Go Go though...I remember thinking: "welcome home." It's tough for me to find good authentic Tex mex. If you do it wrong in Texas, you're doing it wrong, period. And they...did not do it wrong lol. I got the soft taco breakfast plato. You can get two tacos (corn or flour), breakfast potatoes and refried beans. This might be a hole in the wall. But the food was perfection. Their tortillas were amazing. I got potato, egg and jack cheese and chorizo, egg and jack. You can get lots of combos - egg base with two toppings out of like 100. The next day I got some veggies in my eggs and that was even spectacular. The decor was great. Lots of Dìa des los Muertos stuff. Great music too - for a hole in the wall! And what can I say about their potatoes and beans. It was all so very very good. Cheap too. So keep doing what you're doing y'all! Tasty tacos, good prices. I really like TAGG. The tunnel location has two registers running, so you can place your order fairly quickly. Meat choices are fish, pork, lamb, chicken and beef. You can get a meal for under $10, including taco plates with rice and beans, and burritos or bowls with tortilla chips. You may have to wait about 10 minutes for your food, but it's worth the wait. Don't forget to grab some of the awesome taco sauce. I also like the fact that once you enter your email address for an emailed receipt, your email address will be kept for the next time you order. Don't order the horchata as its in a can and the barbacoa doesn't have that same homemade taste I'm used too, which is why I had to knock off a star. However, the breakfast tacos are delicious and the food overall is tasty and worth exploring. Since it's in midtown, it can get busy with local business folks and trendy hipsters wanting to be seen, which can make finding a table a drag at times. That's probably the worst thing about this place the lack of space. Imagine them a step above Taco Cabana, but not quite your mother's home made Mexican food. They make up for the authenticity with a neat design that has a lot of Hispanic influence, but you can't fake barbacoa tacos. They are either amazing, terrible, or okay. Okay barbacoa tacos are four star worthy. Come, enjoy, but know some of your home made staple just lack that pizzazz. read more

This is a good little spot in the tunnels. Very busy area and it's a little awkwardly shaped so it's hard to figure out where to go. I checked yelp for ideas before ordering. Beef Fajita taco - typical beef fajita street taco. Full of only a few ingredients which works for me. Tater taco - This was a bit of a let down. Flavor wise it was fine but, it's essentially a tortilla with some tater tots thrown on top and then other toppings added. Impossible to eat by hand so I had to get a fork. I love me some tater tots but I wanted it to be a taco that I could eat properly. special queso - I say special because I don't remember the exact name. It's the one with chorizo and stuff added. Pretty tasty. Chips were super greasy but my friend and I wanted a greasy treat to celebrate a long work week. Overall, probably my favorite taco place in the tunnels. We visited Tacos A Go Go during the morning rush. Their service is always very professional. We dined on the migas plate. The eggs have jalapenos, crispy chips, and cheese. They also offer a side of black or refried beans, a side of grilled potatoes. I would have added a side of queso fresco and avocado, and a lot more seasoning. Their salsa rack is awesome. This is my 2nd favorite taco place Downtown. A bit hard to find for those unfamiliar with Houston tunnels. Located in One Shell Bldg on corners of McKinney / Louisina/ Smith/ & Walker. Across from City Hall. The Tacos are good, fresh, and quite surprisingly authentic for the pace they put the food out and small presence. I think the Tacos are good quality & tasty. A bit pricey at about $3 - $5 for a taco. 3 tacos & chips & queso = $15.00 Pretty much standing room only. Also, stay close as they holler (literally) your name on credit card u paid with or name u gave them. If they cant find you, its ur fault cuz they look for you. Not kid friendly, but definitely worth a Tourist stop for good tacos in a large metro city where all the real authentic places where they only speak spanish are out of the way. My friend and I just finished working out in downtown and was heading back to this place but we didn't want to stay in the hot, hot sun of Houston so we went down to the tunnel and hoping we can find a place to eat as it was already 2:30PM-ish. As we made our way back north, I saw a familiar taco shop that I have seen in the Heights and Mid-Main and sure enough, there's a Tacos A Go Go in the downtown tunnel! Luckily they close at 3PM so we went in and order our tacos. My friend has never been any of their other locations before but he definitely got hooked and will come back to this location since he lives in downtown. The menu is the same throughout Houston and the price is actually very good if you think about this is being in the downtown tunnel location. I ordered 2 tacos and a drink and it came out in good time. We were planning to take it back to his place to eat but it smelled so good that we were gonna just eat it there and hopefully they won't kick us out as it's getting close to 3PM. It was definitely the right choice because you should always eat your tacos when it's nice and hot. Although it's classified as 'street taco' on their menu, but the size and portion is definitely a different class as Tacos A Go Go gives a generous portion of meat to veggies ratio. The 2 tacos I had were pork guisado and the barbacoa and both were juicy, tender, and delicious. Please note that this location does not have Jarritos despite their famous lighting decoration is full of Jarritos bottles. Of course I had to get my horchata and it was really refreshing still. Overall it was a happy accident find for us that day because not only now I know there's a Tacos A Go Go in downtown tunnel but also open until 3PM so I can get some late lunch if I am down there during the day. read more

Great overall, if you just want the basics, but lacking in some respects. Most of the ingredients and preparation are good, especially for the prices. The steak, shrimp, and fish tacos are great, with the other meats tending to be dry. There are lots of great add-ons/sides that are reasonably priced, including some great sauces, but they're not explicitly detailed on the menu. The (free) salsas have very... Unusual flavors--I'd only recommend the Diablo. Also not a fan of the heavy and pungent seasonings used for the rice and black beans, although this is less noticeable when in a taco or burrito. For things not directly related to taste, my only complaint is they get my orders wrong noticeably often. read more

I've been here for lunch many times, and tried many things, but so far the breakfast tacos are the best option. The other tacos just haven't had great flavor, and I wouldn't order the quesadilla ever again. My boss loved the barbacoa the best because it was so spicy it made him sweat, but the last couple times it was made differently and had absolutely no spice to it. So he's disappointed. I hope they go back to the way it was made before. Today was the first time that they never brought our food out to us. We waited and waited in the seating area right outside, as usual, and they never came out to us. Eventually we got up and there our food was, just sitting at the counter - cold. I don't mind standing in there and waiting, and from now on I will, I just would've liked to have known that they weren't going to bring it out to us. The queso blanco is decent enough to satisfy my cravings, but it's really too watery and barely sticks to the chip. The regular queso is also too watery, but has some good flavors. Sadly, we don't have too many choices in the tunnels. So I keep coming back. I do want to try the huevos rancheros at some point, so fingers crossed I'll like that dish. read more

Second times a charm ! I visited this location a few weeks ago and ordered the beef quesadillas. Not a good first impression. I decided to try it one more time. I asked the cashier if she could ensure my food would be hot, meaty and cheesy. As my first visit the quesadillas were not well prepared. SHE TOLD ME SHE COULDN'T GUARANTEE ANYTHING IN LIFE. I explained the idea she sees fit to compare guaranteeing fresh food to life is scary--! But perhaps her manager could guarantee it?! Long story short- my food was much better today. Fresh, well prepared and presentation was on point. I would give zero stars if I could. Let's just say I was there two days ago when a buddy of mine bought three tacos for under $12 and that was with a $2 tip. I just bought the same three tacos and it was nearly $16. Now obviously when the inflation report came out yesterday, Gogo stuck me good with a huge increase for subpar tacos. Not only was that $6 brisket taco very stingy on the brisket, it was super cold. All three tacos were cold. If I am going to pay these inflated prices, better make sure that taco is at minimum warm. These tacos are absolute BEAST MODE! They're the best I've had in the tunnels. I've walked passed this place quite a few times but didn't think much of it until I heard/saw the good reviews. I really digged the decor and modern amentites like the online ordering/pickup. I heard this place gets packed and even though I left the office at 11 am I still ran into a line upon arrival. What did I order? I got myself 3 tacos, Pastor, Barbacoa, and Pork Belly. If I had to rank them, my favorite would have to be the Pastor with Pork Belly being a close second. I also appreciated the tacos being a la carte so you can order as much or as little as you need. Service was great and food did not take that long to come out. With the dedicated Tacos A Go Go app, I'm pretty sure I'll be eating many more tacos in the near future. Keep up the good work! read more

I was actually really disappointed in my experience this time. Taco A Go Go is usually my go to place for a quick bite I can take back to the office. I would usually order a veggie taco salad, which is a simple grilled zucchini, squash, mushroom, onions all on top of a bed of iceberg lettuce served inside a crispy taco shell, and then one of their street tacos (the barbacoa taco is delicious). The taco salad was $5.99 and the street taco ranges - you are looking between $2.49 - $3.99 depending on which one you get - not too bad for a meal Downtown and thoroughly filling with a good balance between your veggies and meats. This time when I went, they raised the price of the veggie taco salad to $7.49. They also took away the option to add a protein to the salad (was an additional $2+ or so). I was shocked but I really like their salad so went with it anyways. When I got it, there were a few slices of veggies and a ton of iceberg salad. It was very disappointing. I thought perhaps it was a chain decision, but when I looked, none of their other locations have made this change in price or options. I understand being in the tunnels, prices are usually a little more expensive but this is a salad. It's not even filling. I could get something at Salata, customized the way I like it with tortilla chips, for $7 (tax included!). If Taco A Go Go was going to raise the price, at least add some baked beans, guacamole, or something to it. And please don't skimp on the vegetables. I really hope they make some adjustments. I do like their food and they are convenient and pretty efficient. This was just my favorite thing on their menu. This may not affect them in any way since tacos are their thing but I think I will be getting my meals elsewhere for now. read more

FINALLY! Breakfast tacos at my fingertips! Love the other locations and this one did not disappoint. It is located in the Shell building off of Smith across from Starbucks in the tunnels. They have a diverse selection of tacos but what makes them stand out is their creativity, i.e. Tater Taco, Mexican Tater Tots topped with black beans, queso, crispy bacon, salsa roja, pickled jalapeños and tomatoes.
