    Fish taco and chili

First time coming to their new location. This place has more room and better parking. The inside is well kept and the staff is friendly and efficient with the amount of customers coming and going. They have a TV which was playing a sporting game. We had the shrimp and fish tacos which had generous portions. I love the chilies that are here. This place is great to grab and go or sit and enjoy a beverage and great food! This is a must try!

Another grand opening in Whittier I attended today! Live Mariachi & $1 fish tacos till 4pm I ordered 6 fish tacos to go /sour cream on the side please! I get home & only 2 sour creams for 6 fish tacos ‍ Overall food is tasty! Service is kind! Give them a try if you haven't yet!

Service was super quick and easy going. Prices are very reasonable and the quality of the fish tacos are superb. But if you visited Tacos Baja before well you already knew that. The tortillas used are full of flavor. This is their new location just down the street. Place has been upgraded and is comfortable but some of the fixtures are fixes and not newly replaced. Seems like they haven't quite dialed in the operations yet. Overall a very good experience.

Tacos Baja has been a staple in my household. Great quality and delicious flavor! Always a quick to-go for lunch or dinner. I usually get the fish tacos, I tried the shrimp taco today, I love their breading! Highly recommend and love their new location!!!

I enjoyed this spot for a quick grab and go. The staff was friendly and my order of three tacos came up very fast. The tacos were a little too drenched in oil for my liking but overall the food was good and I would visit again in a pinch where I need a quick grab and go meal.

The food here is amazing. Great service & friendly staff. The seating area is so clean & spacious. I'll definitely be visiting here again! The Coctel de Camaron is perfectly seasoned, no need to add lime, & the shrimp are a decent size. The fish, shrimp, & carne asada tacos are Baja style with lots of toppings. The red salsa is so flavorful! The tacos are pretty big & filling! These are not your ordinary two-bite taquero tacos. & don't forget the Chiles Güeros sprinkled with chili powder, so good! I had the #4 Combo which includes a Small Coctel de Camarón, 1 Tostada de Ceviche (I chose Jaiba), & a drink for $10.99. Great deal if you're looking to try a little bit of everything. They offer self serve water cups with cucumber & lemon slices, which is nice while you wait for your order. The parking lot is large & much more spacious than the location on Painter Ave. Great location & food overall. Definitely a new favorite in the area!

Heading to another fish taco place when we tripped across this place. Lucky us! Service is quick. Service is with a smile, polite. Prices are on point . Place was clean. Jayden was our first point of contact, answered our questions, made suggestions, great attitude! Had the fish tacos, plate. Came with rice and beans, and a drink! Also had the fish ceviche. Tacos were really good, the ceviche was really good. But the rice and beans were Devine!!! Overall, great experience. Glad we went to Tacos Baja!!! Good stuff!

PSA: Tacos Baja @tacosbaja__ remain the best fish tacos in LA County. This place would be worth the drive, even from Phoenix. Must try!!! Our old favorite taco haunt, when we lived down the street, that continues to sustain us when visiting Whittier, CA. The food is a five star but the place could use some housekeeping. I ordered: -Fish Taco Plate -Piña

Went there for fish taco Wednesday $1.59. There was a line. We spent about 20 mins waiting in line. For the price, it's good. Fish a bit oily. Parking in the back.

Great food and good prices . I had the fish tacos and my dude had the mojarra. I recommend you try .

Ask the Community - Tacos Baja

What's the difference between taco de pescado and taco de Baja?

Hello, i’m glad you asked this question. it’s actually a very common question asked. The difference is the fish taco is just fish with a corn tortilla and the baja taco is fish and shrimp with a bigger flour tortilla than the corn.

Does anyone know what happened to their Lakewood-Downey location?

I went there in Dec 2019 and they had a note on the building saying they were closing that location and opening a new location also in Downey. That's the last I heard.

Is the $.99 fish taco deal on Wednesday all day long?

Yes it is! Go get some tacos!

Do they have an updated phone number?

I think they went out of business as I drove by two days ago and it was dark at 6:30pm. I've called for two days now and the number is disconnected

Are they still open with the coronavirus restrictions on businesses? I called the number for this restaurant and it's not going thru.

    They are open

Do they have fries or nachos?

They have fries! And they're delicious

Can you order fish tacos without batter for people with gluten allergy?

    Idk.

What type of fish do they use for their fish tacos?

    I think is Talapia

Can you get the 99 cent fish tacos to go?

    Yes ;)

    Do they clean their shrimp?

    Yes

I went on a taco run yesterday to try to find the best taco in Whittier…read more Started off the run with a keto taco mixed with asada and al pastor and then a regular tripa taco. Keto taco - toasted/grilled cheese instead of a regular tortilla - needed to be done a little more on one side as the cheese wasn't quite toasty enough to stay in place to slightly resemble the shape of a taco. Bit hard to eat, covered my hands in grease. Asada tastes almost boiled, and this being my 2nd or 3rd time getting the Asada here, it consistently tastes like it was boiled and not grilled. Unsure of meat quality or preparation, but there are no grill marks and it's a bit chewy. Same with the al pastor. Tripa taco was bizarre. Strips of flat skin instead of the usual roundish, cylindrical shape of tripa (intestine). Usually a saltier, fattier meat than asada, which is my preference but the one here was lacking in flavor and the texture threw me off a bit. Tripa can be chewy - unless requested extra done, which is how I normally order it - but there was no saving this tripa. I think it needs to be sliced differently, the cuts made it inedible. Brother shared some of his chorizo taco and it was the better of the bunch. Red chorizo, TJ style, although it was also lacking a teeny bit in flavor... onions and cilantro to the rescue! Still, mediocre. Salsas were ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Don't think the tortillas were homemade. Service was fine, cashier takes your order, dude at the counter was chill and had a friendly attitude. Seating was limited. Mostly bar style seating but the majority was in front of a window and it had so much heat trapped from the glass that it was kind of uncomfortable. Other seats are too close to the bathroom. Good for a quick bite or just pick-up orders. Wouldn't plan a sit down/dine-in visit. Parking is scarce and has really small spots, wouldn't come if you're driving a pick-up truck or anything like that. Food was reasonably priced, which is good, however; the food was lacking so I would not return.

The idea was to enjoy my coffee while getting organized--paying bills, planning calendar events, and having the opportunity to focus without any distractions from my usual surroundings. In search of the perfect spot, I turned to Yelp, a reliable resource for uncovering hidden gems nearby. Upon stepping into the coffee shop, I was immediately greeted with warm hospitality, setting the tone for a delightful experience. The ambiance of the place was truly captivating--it was bright and welcoming, infused with an aesthetic charm that instantly put me at ease. I couldn't help but be intrigued by the design elements throughout the shop, which added an inviting touch to its overall atmosphere. Before I settled in, I asked the staff if I could snap a few photos to capture the essence of this delightful space. They graciously welcomed my request, and I was shown to my table, which, quite uniquely, was designated by a number--a small detail that I found charming. As I browsed the menu, I encountered a small conundrum: I wasn't entirely sure what to order. I wanted to break the mold and try something out of the ordinary. My curiosity was piqued by their exclusive offering of Café de la Olla--a traditional hot drink that piqued my interest right away. I ultimately settled on a hearty plate that included rice, beans, and enticing potato tostones, accompanied by two beautifully cooked sunny-side-up eggs. As I waited for my order, I noticed the café was filled with the sweet sounds of old-school music from the '60s and '70s, which only enhanced the cozy ambiance while I sipped my drink. Now, let's talk about the food! I must say, I rated the café itself a solid 4 out of 5 for its overall charm, while the rice earned a respectable 4 out of 5. The beans were rich in flavor and received a fair 3.9 out of 5. The potato tostones, delicately bathed in a savory red sauce, stood out with an impressive score of 4.3 out of 5--these are a must-try if you visit! And as for the sunny-side-up eggs, they were good, but hey, eggs are eggs, right? Overall, the entire experience was quite enjoyable, from the delightful food to the warm atmosphere. A special shout-out goes to Ana, whose exceptional customer service made my visit even more memorable. The combination of fantastic service, inviting aesthetics, and satisfying food truly made for a perfect morning retreat. I can't recommend this spot enough for anyone looking for a relaxing place to unwind and focus on what matters.
