This place smacks. Honestly I can't speak for anything other than their fish tacos with the exception of their fries. I always go for the fish taco Wednesdays but my dad put me on their French fries. They are fat but also crunchy and seasoned. Service is fast and efficient. This the type of place that knows how to do food right. Nice and fresh. Probably one of the best places for fish taco specials. Fish tacos on Wednesday are $1.59 each and they are loaded with cabbage. I am not sure if their fish tacos are the same when it's not Wednesday but these tacos came with a bunch of cabbage. Soo much cabbage that you could make some coleslaw or a side salad. Place looked clean, food smelled good (not fishy). I personally had the chicken taco combo but I was with a large group and everyone else had fish -all were satisfied with their plates. I would recommend this place. No kids menu BTW so you have to get creative, like order a plain chicken taco and water or something low in sugar. Overall I would say it's a nice change of pace from the usual fast food joints. Pricing is not the worst but like everything else has to ve competitive. Tacos Baja sure had really slow service when I visited. It was dinner time, and there were only a couple of folks ahead of me. Still, it was about a 20 minute wait before it was my turn to order. Fortunately, it only took about 20 minutes for my food to be ready. So, was it worth the wait? 5 stars for the peppers. Yeah, those peppers were terrific. They made the tacos taste even better. 4 stars for the fish tacos. The fish tacos were good, but I don't know if I'd wait so long for them again. 4 stars for the shrimp tacos too. If there was no line, then I'd stop in for those shrimp tacos. Chances are not great that I will be returning anytime soon. For being an out of town visitor, I would not search out Tacos Baja In the future. If I was a local, though, I'd return from time to time. Judge for yourself. read more

Came here to the new location due to a serious pregnancy craving for shrimp tacos. The food here is so bomb, the breading on the shrimp tacos is crunchy, the toppings delicious, the salsa super flavorful. Rice and beans are simple but yummy. Prices are reasonable for a restaurant that sells fish. Love the new location with more seating and better parking. My only critique would be that the tables could be wiped more frequently, but I understand they were short staffed and we could clearly see that the guys working in the kitchen were working very hard and were very busy. I also had their mixed cocktail but I must say I had better because this one tasted a little bit watered down and lacked some flavor but overall it was still good ( just wasn't what I was expecting) and the prices were more than reasonable. Delicious and giant tacos here! It was my first time and I'm glad I was recommended this place. There was only one person in front of me but after I ordered, there was a line of about 4 and everyone waited patiently and distantly outside. I had two Baja tacos and they were enormous and I was full after one. Its a nice mix of fried fish and shrimp. I wouldn't wait too long to eat because they'll get soggy. The cashier is super friendly. You can ask for sides when your food is ready such as their roasted peppers, salsa, and limes. Definitely coming back. Food - Combo #4 Fish ceviche w/ shrimp cocktail ($7.75) = Very good Combo#3 Fish taco w/ shrimp tacos rice, beans AND a soda ($7.00) = Tacos had a generous amount of shrimp, cabbage slaw and crema. They were both breaded whoch was good but next time I'll ask for grilled. Beans are white beans and the rice is white w/ veggies. Been eating tacos baja forever when I lived in montebello. Once I moved to whittier and found 2 locations I eat this at least once a week. Was sad it was closed on first street for a bit as they were opening a new location. By far the best fish tacos and fish ceviche around. First time customer today, looking to satisfy my baja fresh style grilled shrimp/fish taco craving. And boy-howdy, did it!! Wow! All super fresh and the flavor was outrageous! That's how it should be. But the best surprise was the complimentary sweet chili peppers marinating in spices. Those are AMAZING and Tacos Baja's signature gift bow that wraps the rest. Gotta go home to Texas now but next time back, I'll definitely revisit! Hospitality note: I'm deaf/HOH, making it very difficult to communicate with masks. Krystine was super nice, understanding and patient to work with me and ensure I was taken care of like I was the only one there. What gracious hospitality, A+!! Those are the pros that deserve 5 stars. But 3 lesser notes: If to-go destination is more than 5-10 minutes, Tacos Baja might want to consider using a second tortilla to preserve the taco's structure. Unrelated to food: Being new to/visiting area, I called both locations to ensure they were open (as they're close to one another in Whittier), but no answer at one and another wasn't even in service. Pros: the fish/shrimp tacos are really good with a lot of flavor. The tortillas are nice and golden. They don't taste store bought. The burritos are loaded and yummy. Tried the shrimp tostadas and like them too. It's a far drive from me but worth the drive. Cons: the place could use some updating. The bathroom situation is not the best so don't go here for that. FIVE BIG STARS !!! I learned of this place by browsing DoorDash. Hacienda doesn't have many food options so we regularly find ourselves searching in Yelp and DoorDash for something new. I reviewed the menu and the Yelp reviews and determined I had to try them. I was not disappointed. I went for a shrimp cocktail, ceviche tostada, fish tacos and shrimp tacos. ALL the food was fantastic. The cocktail contained ample shrimp, the ceviche was tasty, the salsas provided and the tacos were wonderful. For delivery, this place is great.
