My family has a home in Ensenada, Mexico where we go as often as possible in the summer. The seafood and fish tacos there are worth the looooong wait to cross the boarder. Tacos Baja is the closest you will ever get to enjoying an authentic, Baja-style fish taco without having to venture all the way to Mexico! Not only are the fish tacos divine -- crisp on the outside and moist on the inside, nestled in a corn tortilla with cabbage, crema, tomato and onion -- but their ceviche, shrimp tacos, burritos and shrimp/seafood cocktails are all VERY FRESH and VERY TASTY. I love the salsa bar with the roasted chiles -- a nice compliment to the food. The portions are generous and the price is right. The only downsides are : The place is a small, fast-food type place (you place the order at the cashier and then they call you to come pick up), and is nothing fancy. It seems like it's always busy -- and that's why, I think, it doesn't always seem super clean. Parking can be tough because so many people come here. Only complaint with the food is that sometimes they squeeze lemon into the shrimp cocktail, and the seeds end up in your cup and can add a bitter taste. I'm a regular customer there. But after today I won't be back. There is one rude new girl working there. I asked her if I call get a cup holder for my drinks that was stacked on the left side of her . She told me to get it from cashier. I told her I would wait until she gives me my order so she can give me one. She was making shrimp cocktails talking to her friend.everyone was busy.She was the one giving out orders. She saw my order up there for 3 min ignored it. The cook told her to take the order out. She told him in a loud voice "you take it out.. you want me here or there. You could tell he got embarrassed. Everyone heard what she said. So the cook came around counter to give me my Order plus I had to get my own cup holder. How hard is it to be nice.she needs to learn customer service. I always go to the location in East LA but I work in Whittier so i come here frequently, let me tell you this review is not about the food but about the service because I feel with any restaurant the service changes your entire experience. I went in on 12/21/16 around 1:20pm, and the reason why Im putting the date is because the girls don't wear name tags, so I was unable to get her name, she was working cashier & has "red" (orange) curly hair..She is soooooo extremely rude, I had never had this type of service here until today and I thought I should let them know that they do not need people like her... Her body language is soooo bad and she expressed how frustrated she was with a customer and every customer for that matter.. it just looks so bad to me. I asked for a Shrimp combo and she charged me for a fish combo, good thing I noticed my receipt before I received my order, so I went up to her and told her, she didn't say a word to me about it, and just charged me the difference. Remind you it was not my fault but hers & I still apologized and gave her the benefit of the doubt. So then when I received my food, my order was actually to go and she gave it to me in a plate and informed her it was to go, she picks up the plate so angry and throws it to the cooks and tells them put in a box, soooo disrespectful and she didn't even look at me again or say anything!!! Came with my husband ordered 2 #4's shrimp cocktail and ceviche and a fish taco. Fish taco came quickly but not the rest of our order. Several orders being picked up people after mine getting their orders. Then when I asked the man behind the counter that gives out food and makes the shrimp cocktails about the rest of my order and show him my receipt he looks at it and says you did not get it? I say no and the only thing I got was the fish taco. So you would think he would say sorry and make my shrimp cocktails and our ceviche tostadas....nope. He continues to make other orders and now they are calling #93 and my no. 84. So I wait a few more minutes and he still has not made my order. So I go up again and now I'm pissed tell a other guy that I'm still waiting. And told him I told the other man and he didn't make my order. However yesterday I decided to try the baja burrito and it will be the last time we are going back to this filthy place. The baja burrito gave me severe FOOD POISONING including vomiting, fever, stomach pain, severe diarrhea (going every hour) and a sore throat. I went to the ER and was diagnosed with colitis which is an infection in your colon and possible salmonella which is transmitted through feces or through contaminated water or fish. These people obviously don't care what they're feeding their customers. It's a shame what people will do to make money. I would definitely not ever recommend this place to anyone, not worth it to go through so much pain. read more

It's been two years since I was last here (it's out of the way for me, but goodness, it's worth the drive) but the $1 fish taco Wednesdays is still going strong! Barely anything about the experience changed - the fried peppers with Tajin are still there, plus there are thinly sliced onions marinated in lime juice, which adds a nice touch to the tacos.
