    Tacos (carne asada)

Oh My Goodness! We went hiking towards that area and we're starving! We stopped and had the best street tacos (carne asada)! Clean place, friendly staff, yummy food, plenty of parking! ¡Qué ricos les quedaron los tacos de asada! Pedimos cinco pero pudiéramos haber comido el doble. Regresaremos.

Inexpensive and friendly service! The beef was a little dry and I got a couple gristley pieces but that didn't diminish the yumminess of the tacos with 2 corn tortillas for each taco and plenty of onions and cilantro. Me gusta la salsa verde mas que la roja pero es la opinión individual, por supuesto. Plenty of seating and suitable, I'd think, for a small or large group. Order at the counter and pay and then the food is brought to your table. ¡Me gustaría tener mas palabras en español pero no las tengo a demasiadas veces!

This was the perfect stop after a day of four wheeling. They don't have a huge menu but they are very friendly and quick. The flavors were also spot on for what we ordered. If your hungry passing through Melba definitely stop and give it a try.

Tacos were delicious, there was plenty of space for our large group to sit, the bathrooms were clean, and the service was very quick!

I kind of missed the vibe of the old place though. When we arrived they tried to seat us at a little dark table on a back wall in the back. Nope, can't have it. They had plenty of tables in the bar area set but said they didn't have service in that area. We waited for a better table which only took few minutes. Our waiter was pleasant and helpful. At his suggestion we both ordered one of the Molcajete bowls. It's a lava rock bowls that comes out scorching hot and stays that way. One Molcajete Mexicano which had beef, pork, and shrimp with peppers and onions. The other was the Carne Borracha. It's beef with onions and peppers in a red sauce. They come with corn or flour tortillas. Beans and rice are the sides. We started with the table side guacamole and it was delicious. In a short time the bowls came out. It's quite a presentation. Bubbling and packed with food. Both dishes were excellent. The margaritas were good as well. They make their own juice mixes, all fresh ingredients. None of that bottled stuff. It a great place for a Mexican dinner. I took a star off for the seating issue. Otherwise it a 5 star for us.

Ordered the guacamole table side appetizer and asked for medium spicy. It was so good. Next we ordered the ribeye steak fajitas served medium rare with onions bell peppers and delicious steak. Definitely worth the extra charge for steak. Flour tortillas and side of sour cream guacamole and choice of beans. Server was over the top friendly and very good. Highly recommend this restaurant if in the area.

The drinks were definitely strong and well-made, which we really appreciated. Our server was very friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we sat down. The atmosphere was one of my favorite parts it had a warm, cozy Spanish vibe that made the whole experience feel relaxed and inviting. The music added to it perfectly and gave the restaurant a really nice energy. Overall, it's a great spot for a casual dinner, a date night, or just when you're craving good Mexican food in a comfortable setting. We'll definitely be coming back.

So much so, it's time for an updated review. I called ahead but it didn't really matter since seating was swift the night we went. I will say that the biggest downside is the small entry...when people are waiting, they often forget there's other people in the world other than themselves. We were quickly seated and the chips, salsa and bean dip with mushrooms and onions were delivered moments after. The salsa was nice, though needed salt...and the chips were on the older side. Bean dip was warm and tasted great with the mushrooms and onions mixed in. The server was very considerate while my friend and I eyed the large menu discussing all the options our stomachs were interested in. I settled on the burrito de chile verde and my friend had the carne asada taco plate. Food came roughly 15 minutes later, piping hot and with generous portions. I'm well aware this is authentic "Americanized" Mexican food, so I'm reviewing from that perspective. In this context, the food was very well prepared and tasted fresh. The pork in my burrito was tender, heavily sauced and cheesy-melty, wrapped in a fresh tortilla, topped with a lightly flavored chili verde sauce. Beans tasted homemade, though they could use a little more salt or garlic. Rice was a little dry but still edible, especially mixed with the beans, sauce and burrito. Would have loved some more sour cream or guacamole, but overall the meal was very filling and satisfying.

Food is ordered at the counter and they deliver it to the table. I ordered the three carne asada enchilada plate which came with beans and rice. The beans were nice and loose to mix with the rice. Good flavor and plenty of sauce and cheese in the enchiladas. Taste of the meat was on point. They had green and red homemade sauces, nice flavors, the red was not real hot. The squeeze had the three taco plate, which of course had the beans and rice. She chose the carne asada as well. We swapped a taco and enchilada. The tortillas got a little stiff on the last taco, almost became a tostada. There is a soda fountain for self help drinks. Service was good, very attentive. It was certainly a good lunch. I really can't say it was better than other places I have eaten. The single bathroom needs help, kind of dirty but didn't smell. Maybe a cheap makeover with some fresh paint.
