I've been to El grullito but not this location, this is the location across the street from St Joseph's hospital. We were in the area and decided we wanted to get some tacos at first, but we walked up and saw it they had carne asada fries. So they offered this big bowl of fries for 6 bucks. It's a very good, cheap meal. We had extra onion and cilantro, didn't have to pay extra for beans and rice. They graciously added the beans and rice to the carne asada fries and it was delicious. The one thing I would have done differently is maybe ask them to cook my fries a little longer, because I like them crispy. Especially since they're going to top it with lots of sour cream and guacamole so that's going to make the top soggy. But other than that I enjoyed my experience, this location is usually busy because a lot of medical staff patronizes this location. It's right in the heart of a lot of medical buildings. They have a smaller menu compared to other Mexican restaurants but the food is good and the service is fast. I ordered the quesadilla with carnitas and it was plenty to feed two people. The carnitas were juicy and flavorful which can be a hit or miss for some restaurants. If you wish to eat inside there is plenty of seating that is spaced out so you don't feel like you're sitting on top of each other. They were not the best or the worst I've had, but I'd go back again to give something else a try. After all, it was their first day and they were slammed. My coworker tried a super burrito and his opinion was the same-not the best or worst but it definitely did the trick in filling him up! Went to eat here after visiting my mother in law who has been in the hospital. No chips and salsa, which I thought was weird for a Mexican restaurant to not have. When we got our food, all the meat was cold, like it had been sitting out and then just added to the tacos, burrito, etc. No flavor, just greasy. We're not ones to complain normally. We didn't finish our meal, just tossed it and chalked it up to not eating here again. About 2 days later, my wife started throwing up and that lasted for 3 days! After ordering I asked the lady for some tap water out of their fountain machine, and she replied by saying" we don't give water but we do sell plastic cup for 3 dollars" I said don't worry it's ok. The tacos were really good. My wife, kids and I tried all 4 different meat choices with the tacos and each one was delicious. We will definitely be coming back for the all weekend day $1 tacos. I ordered 2 super burritos, and was disappointed. I will say this, the flavor IS good, for the meat, rice, and beans, BUT there was no sour cream, and MAYBE a few tiny shreds of cheese, if i really searched (which i did), but why no sour cream or cheese?!!! I thought maybe they just messed up on my order but after looking at the reviews on here I can see that is a common thing for them to do , so unfortunately I won't be back there, even though the location is super convenient (which is why i tried them in the first place). I paid $20 plus for 2 super burritos, and 2 tacos. There were no extras in the bag, like lime or lemon, salt packets, napkins. That would be useful for someone on their lunch break. Why would you not give customers what they pay for?? Do they not know that if you make a customer happy, they become a repeat customer?? They are in such a good location too!! I work across the street at St. Joseph's Medical Center. The entire hospital is ecstatic that a new food joint is opening across the street. We have nothing near us when it comes to food options! I've visited here with coworkers several times now, and we enjoyed it very much. The meats are seasoned perfectly, with plenty of juices dripping into your tortilla. That's a staple when it comes to good Mexican restaurants. I've ordered the carnitas burrito every time and it has NEVER disappointed. I've also ordered their carne asada French fries which come fully stacked and loaded. It's a great dish to share to complement your burritos and tacos! The interior of the restaurant is very clean and well-organized, in a newly developed building next to a Starbucks and a Subway. Although there's often homeless around the area, there's usually enough foot traffic and police presence nearby that you never feel unsafe or bothered. Most of them around the area are nice, anyway. Here are some areas for improvement: Their rice is very very undercooked. It was undercooked and almost had a crunch to it the first time around. Several of my coworkers agreed. I thought maybe it was just a poorly cooked batch, so the next day I ordered the same thing again and the rice had the same crunchy undercooked consistency. From then on I just started ordering without rice, which really is unfortunate since rice in a burrito is great for soaking up all that flavor. There is little to no differentiation between the regular and super burrito. At pretty much every Mexican restaurant, a super burrito not only offers more, but is also larger in size. My coworkers and I compared burrito sizes (haha!) and they were exactly the same, even though half of us ordered super. Also, many of the supers were missing sour cream and the things that make it different. It appears we just paid the upcharge for no reason. All in all this is a MUST VISIT food joint. They've had great reviews on their taco truck and it's great to see a local business grow and expand to a permanent location. And they picked a great place. Across the street from a huge hungry hospital with no competition nearby. It's an untapped gold mine. I'll continue to grab to-go orders from here, and I'll definitely update my review to see if there's been any changes. read more

Not impressed. Tried this place because it is right across the street from St. Joseph's med. Staff looked unhappy. Unfriendly. Asked for chips and salsa. "We don't do that" Can I buy them. " We only have chips for nachos" Ordered beef super burrito. I personally like salty food, but this beef was so salty, I barely ate have. Next time Subway next door or drive to a much better choice.
