My wife and I each had a Torta. Barbacoa and Chorizo. Bother we loaded with meat beans lettuce and tomato. The fresh salsa is zippy and plentiful. Chips were fresh and they will refill them if you ask. Our friends had tacos carne asada, chicken and chicarrones. They only one they would not order again is the chicarrones. It was a just not her thing, did not like the crunchiness. The only negative is drinks are $1.00 for a refill. Not a huge deal, but worth mentioning. We would return again. Indeed, everything about Tacos Los Reyes brought me back to the Mexico, from the programs on the TV to the red booths to the pickled veggies and chips and salsa provided (for free!!) for a dine-in experience. There are, of course, fully-emptied Jarritos and Mexican coke bottles over the trash unit that's just spotless (hard to imagine much food getting wasted here). I came here because another review mentioned it when comparing it to the stand in downtown Orange. The line was long and there were many patrons inside, a telenovela was playing on the TV, and there was little English spoken inside. It's funny, I came here searching for authenticity but ended up getting a crispy taco (taco dorado). Anyways, the meat tasted alright. I think their carne asada was the best. I've been going here for over 25 years. I used to work nearby and ate here once a week. It has changed very little. I like how they chop up your taco meat when you order it. Not sitting around drying up like other places. The salsa can be spicy. Too hot for my wife. Not much room to sit and eat. Parking is difficult. The tacos are big and three fill me up. My favorite are carnitas. I think they are the best in OC. Chips and salsa comes with it and spicy carrots too. Prices are very low. They are usually very busy. This is a great little restaurant. The food is delicious. My recommendation is the chicken tacos. They are bursting with flavor. They give you chips and salsa before the meal. The salsa is really spicy so be careful when letting little ones dive in. SEATING: it's first come first serve. Happy I found this authentic Mexican restaurant. The beans are so so good, they are so good they appear to be made with real lard but not sure. Had a carne asada burrito and added rice. Very happy with my selection and the leftovers were even better in the air fryer the next day. My friend has been going here for many years and she's never been disappointed and I trust her judgement. She usually gets the bistec ranchero plate, eats half and saves the leftovers. The place is tiny and seats about 9 or 10 small tables, about max 4 people per table. It was a bit crowded but well worth it. I wouldn't plan to take a group. The service was fast and very friendly the lady came out and served us some complimentary chips and salsa and was very helpful, we asked her for sour cream for our burritos and she went out to the back and got us a nice glob if it, I will def be coming back here and am glad I found this place, they do only take cash so bring some with you, I know that can be a pain since most of us carry our debit card only but it's a small bump and in return you'll get some delicious food at very good prices. It had been years since I had been to Carnitas Los Reyes. I had forgotten about them, when my secretary told me that they have very good tacos. Not being a dummy, I listened to her suggestion. I arrived at at about 12:30 PM. The restaurant was full. There was a line of customers waiting to order their food. I was the only Chinito in the restaurant. All the customers in the restaurant were hispanic. It was a good sign that I was about to get some good authentic food. The customers in front of me ordering all spoke Spanish. I wasn't sure if the man behind the counter spoke English or not. When it was my turn, I used my best Spanglish and I ordered 2 carne asada tacos and 2 carnitas tacos. After ordering, he asked me in perfect English if was "for here to go". I paid and waited for my food. About 5 minutes later, my food was ready. Even though the place was busy, the man behind the counter looked for me and gave me a bag of food. It wasn't until I got back to the office that I discovered included with the tacos were a bag of chips, salsa, a packet of pickled carrots and jalapenos. The taco man added everything that you needed for the tacos, including onions, cilantro and salsa. The tacos were full of meat. The carne asada tacos were very good. It was cooked perfectly. The flavor was good. The Carnitas taco was a no brainer for me since Carnitas is in their name. The carnitas was moist. It made for a great taco. The tacos were all very large. If I had known that they give chips, I would've gotten 3 tacos. I was stuffed by the time I got to the last taco. Carnitas Los Reyes is a very good place for a quick cheap meal. Unless you eat a lot, it will be difficult for you to have 4 tacos. You can have a great meal here for under $5. I was so happy with my take out experience, I came back here with Stephen to dine in on a weekend. We arrived a little after 12, and as I thought, it was busy. Lucky for us, one table was leaving, so I had Stephen grab it while I ordered our food. I wanted to try their menudo but at noon, it was already sold out. So I decided on getting tacos for us, and without the beans or rice, as last time 2 tacos with chips filled me up quite nicely. I stayed with the namesake of 2 carnitas tacos, and for Stephen got him a carnitas, barbacoa, and chorizo taco, plus 2 large diet cokes. Total came to just over $11 and change. Talk about cheap eats! The cashier told me to sit down and they'll bring out our drinks, which also came with chips, house salsa and pickled carrots/ jalapenos. The chips were nice and crunchy, but I had to hold back on eating all of them. Stephen really liked his tacos, and saved the chorizo for last. It was his favorite, even though it was so spicy, he literally was sweating! Seriously, homeboy had sweat rolling down his face. He couldn't stop eating the taco. This is my favorite taco spot in Orange County, hands down. Nothing like it nearby, that I've discovered, comes even close to the quality and value of Los Reyes. When my partner and I had just started dating, he made me promise to never bring anyone else here if it wasn't with him. At first I was like, oh no, red flag! He's gatekeeping tacos! But now that we've been together nearly a decade, I understand what he meant. These tacos are legendary and he deserves credit for putting me on. Los Reyes is located in a strip mall that doesn't really catch your eye unless you know what you're looking for, which is usually a line out the door. It is a small spot with just a few tables for dining. The parking lot gets busy, but there is always free parking somewhere. When you walk in, you are greeted with the warm aroma of good food. The menu is posted right above the service counter and includes classic dishes like tacos, burritos, sopes, and menudo on the weekends. The place has beautiful artwork on the walls that I really appreciate. It reminds me of the country that this amazing food originates. To order, you just walk up to the counter, if there isn't already a line leading there. The staff is always friendly and definitely work fast to take care of all the food orders. It used to be cash only, but I'm glad they now accept card as a convenience. If it's really packed inside, you'll want to keep an eye out for a table if you plan on dining in. Since dining was available on my last visit, we were able to snag a table shortly after placing our order at the counter (it was a busy day). On less busy days I've been able to walk in, take a seat, and a nice server would come to the table with fresh warm chips and their amazing salsa before taking our order. We mainly go for the al pastor! Muy Bueno!! And our favorite thing to do is order it by the pound then take it home to eat. This place is really tiny ... maybe only about 10 tables. But their food is super yummy! We have had their carnitas, which is good, but the al pastor is so much better! Also, I really like chile verde ... they have a yummy chile verde burrito there! They are kinda funny with their little bags of tortilla chips though! ... Not sure why! You could go in with a group of friends and each of you individually order a burrito or whatever, to go. They will give each of you a little bag of chips to go with your order. But if you order 6 burritos on one order, they will still only give you 1 bag of chips ... and if you ask for extra bags, they will charge you a quarter. ... and you can tell the girl does not like to be asked for more chips ... you will get a little bit of attitude. But if you expect that going in, it won't catch you by surprise. Finally, they have the yummiest beans ... we call them 'Bad Beans'! God only know what's in them to make them so yummy .. but you know they are not good for you when there is a small puddle of grease or fat at the top ... then they throw on a handful of cheese ... it's definitely an artery clogger, so you probably shouldn't have the beans too often ... but you need to just at least try them once! read more

I'm not usually one to give a terrible review, but I can't let this slide. Walked into this place about 20 minutes ago, walked up and asked for a Carne Asada burrito. The lady, looking pretty annoyed, had mentioned I had to get it to go because they were closing, totally fine said that's OK. The burrito was $7.50, I handed her $10 and said keep the change because I know they were about to close. For context it was about 915 at night, and they close at 10 PM. If they were closing early and couldn't make it that would've been totally fine as well they just had to say something. I Pick my up burrito up five minutes later and I drive away. I'm going to hang out with a few people so I wanted to eat this on the road . I have had this spot before and it was really good the first time, but this time the burrito was tiny and it was completely cold inside. The first few bites tasted great, and then I noticed about 2/3 of the burrito was just cold non melted cheese. I don't think This was by accident. I noticed They looked rushed to get out after I ordered. Posted time for closing was literally 45 minutes from now. That doesn't warrant serving someone bad food. Typically I would say this place was good, but a crappy attitude like that is just uncalled for, especially in a city with a ton of good Taqueria's. I would recommend tacos Del Gordo on grand, or the taco tent stand on grand underneath the freeway in the parking lot of the smoke shop. That's probably the best Pastor I've had outside of Mexico. I've been coming here since I was a little girl and let me tell you the staff for the most part, are the same. I recommend you bring cash bcuz they do charge a % if you use your card. It's a little hole in the wall restaurant right next to the gas station that has authentic Mexican tacos, pozole, I get an al pastor burrito with everything. Uufffff makes me want some. Their salsa and chips are homemade too and always super fresh. They charge extra for a larger container of salsa but I love it with the grease mixture in the burrito makes it the right balance. I can only eat half. Wish I could eat the whole thing but it's too heavy for me. Their refried beans are to die for. I might ask for a bean and cheese burrito next I go actually.
