Burrito was soggy and dripping in grease from the congealed cheese.
    Sonia R.

I saw a tik tok recommendation about this spot. I was so excited to try their bean and cheese burrito. I am picky about my beans and pretty much judge a spot by beans alone. They do not blend the beans here, they are whole. Probably a good thing they don't use homemade tortillas because they would fall apart from the amount of grease that bleeds from these burritos. I took one bite and instantly regretted my decision.

Can you say BOOKED and BUSY!!!! That is the epitome of TACOS LOS REYES!!!!There were so many party trays of asada, carnitas, beans, rice and let's not forget the pints of red and green salsa- with tortilla chips going out the door as fast as the orders were being taken !! The line was long but it was worth the wait!!! This is what authentic Mexican food is all about- Today's order- carne asada burrito with tomatoes- each burrito comes with beans, onions, cheese, cilantro and it is nicely packed and overflowing with each ingredient!!! Each order comes with a side of chips and salsa!!! Great place to go if you have a love for Mexican food!!

First and foremost the food was delicious and fresh I ordered the carne asada burrito and when I asked if the could add jalapeños inside the burrito without hesitation the lovely attendant said yes. Just as I was about sit down the waitress was already coming with my drink and chips Great food and great service

The cabeza tacos are FIRE!!! You know the food is good here because the line went out the door. It went quickly though. The restaurant is small but there's a lot of seating. Couldn't get any so took it to go. Service was fast for how busy it was 10 minutes. Because it's a small busy restaurant it can feel claustrophobic. The food is worth it though! Some taco places charge extra for cabeza but all the tacos are the same price. Salsa, food, service 10/10. They call the order in Spanish but it's good thing I know enough to know my order haha. I like how you can see the them making your food. Parking is free but it's pack because it shares with other businesses

This place is a must try small business. It was recommended by a friend and I went after a baseball game for that late night taco craving. It was absolutely delicious. The service was great and the line went quick. We ordered the red enchilada combination, a wet burrito de asada and an order of tacos: al pastor, chorizo and asada. The al pastor was absolutely tasty and the all hit the spot. It was very busy around 9pm on a Saturday but we still found a table. They serve complimentary chips and salsa with chiles and carrots. I will definitely come back and try more menu items.

Does this restaurant offer Taco Tuesday deals? If so, which types will be discounted and what are the prices for each? Thank you and see you soon.

No taco Tuesday deals but they usually have a daily special. Tacos are $2.25 but they are the regular tortilla (2) and they stuff it with plenty of meat. Carnitas are really good

Did they change the way they make their beans?

I don't believe so. The frijoles taste the same: delicious and traditional with lard.

They moved or closed didn't they? We go for the carnitas went a while back and they were no longer there. Don't where they moved to.

They r still at same location, they had closed due to a kitchen fire but r now open and better then ever..

Can you please update your contact ph#? The one listed seems to be disconnected.

Start cleaning out underneath your table pushing you out as fast as they can. The bar just closes down not even announcing a last call. And what is with those awful margaritas. I can't believe that a Michelin feathered Mexican restaurant can serve such awful margaritas. And I am not alone as I mentioned it to another Restaurant crowd and they agreed and said they were probably the worst margaritas in Orange. I don't know whether it's the mix or the amount of alcohol or what it is but they come out watery and really sour. A totally good dining experience has to encompass everything, food is only 50% of the deal the other 50% is service with a smile, and this one lacks it. Now there could be a reason for this epic shutdown at 9 PM. But I wonder what it is? Santa Monica seafood in Santa Monica on Wilshire Boulevard has to have last orders in by 8:30 because if they are not closed out by 10 o'clock entirely, the neighbors complain that they are putting out trash and making a noise after 10 so that I understand. But it took me a year to find that out from the owners. Restaurant owners are so stuck up and anal, I know I was one. Gabbi, whom I have never seen, should spend a night or two watching her Restaurant closing up.

The beans did not taste watered down, and the enchiladas themselves were flavorful. I always worry about shrimp overpowering the sides of a dish but it tasted great. The rice was also really filling. We had a reservation and they seated us at a pretty big table, which I liked. The servers were very timely, kind, and knowledgeable about each dish on the menu and the rotating specials. The inside of the restaurant was HUGE. I'm pretty sure it was built inside of a church. I really liked the stained glass and elevated seating areas nearby, it reminded me of the Old Spaghetti Factory layout in Fullerton. Overall, I had a very positive experience. I had to get a Diet Coke and of course, it was crisp to my expectations. A little heads-up, unlike the Costa Mesa location, they do not have horchata. But once again one has this perfunctory service, that is service that is merely to get through a night and not to enhance a dining experience. So many restaurants now seem to have the same problem, that is servers who just want to get through the evening and get it over with. The service industry has really taken a dive since my day. I don't get it. Don't they get paid more than they used to just a year or two ago. Anyway, I do enjoy the Camerones. But, the dreadful flan that I was served. This is such a basic desert and very easy to make, but one can overcook the egg proteins easily and the whole thing is grainy, scrambled and not pleasant to eat. Basically it should be cooked in a Bain Marie. Probably a lost art. Avila's has several locations and one may differ from another. The one I ate at is in Orange.

The carnitas themselves are the star--tender, juicy pork that's been slow-cooked to perfection with that signature crispy edge on some pieces, delivering rich, savory flavor without being overly greasy. It's seasoned just right, with a nice balance of porky goodness and subtle spices that let the meat shine. Wrapped in a large, fresh flour tortilla (they make their own in-house, which always helps), it's stuffed generously with the classics: fluffy Mexican rice, creamy refried or whole beans (depending on your preference, but both work great), chopped onions, cilantro, and a solid dose of salsa. I went with their green salsa for a bright, tangy kick that cuts through the richness perfectly, plus a dollop of sour cream and cheese for that creamy melt. No skimping on portions here--it's hearty and filling, easily a meal that satisfies for hours. At around $10 (give or take, based on current pricing), it's a great value in the area. The burrito holds together well without falling apart mid-bite, and the overall balance of textures--tender meat, soft rice/beans, crisp onions--makes every mouthful enjoyable. If you're in the mood for classic carnitas done right in a casual, bakery-taqueria spot with great salsas and a friendly vibe, this one's definitely worth grabbing. I'd rate it 4.5 out of 5--only docking half a point because it's not reinventing the wheel, but it's executing the traditional style exceptionally well. Highly recommend if you're near 728 N Tustin St in Orange! Pair it with an horchata, yum
