first off i wanna say the new location spot and bigger resturant looked amazing. the staff was all friendly and tenative. was my first time going there was recomended by alot of family and friends and the food did not dissapoint. was sat at a table with in seconds of entering the resturant the nice lovley waitress brought us our menu's long side of fresh chips and 3 amazing salsa's. i ordered the chicken burrito and fries the burrito was nice size and filling the flavors of the chicken and rice and beans with lil side of the sour cream had my mouth screaming with yummyness. then had a side order of fries with it they came out nice and cripsy def will be back again. read more

Wow!! I've lived in Meriden for the last year and driven by this plaza hundreds of times..never knew what amazing food could exist here! Definitely more of a take out place but about 6 booths if you choose to dine in. Friendly service, movie playing (Red dubbed in Spanish), and relaxed atmosphere. Everything was delicious from the tacos to the huge steak burrito (ordered chicken but they had run out). My favorite was their chorizo....the best I've ever had! Very traditional options as well if that's your taste. Will be back frequently! read more

Tacos are definitely authentic tasting . It was kind of difficult communicating with my weariness since she didn't speak much English but still she was trying her best. I didn't care for the beef stripe soup, I've had better but it had a very gamey taste like it needed to be cleaned out more before cooking. But the tongue and steak tacos were excellent. read more

I'm giving this place 2 stars because I don't want to be harsh. I had very high expectations of this place from the reviews and from a recommendation. I think the one thing all Mexican food lovers can equally expect from any Mexican restaurant is a great guac...At least even a good guac. The guacamole we were served looked like it was blended. I don't know if that is authentic or not but I've never had puréed avocados before in my life. It tasted as if there was Mayo in it? I'm not sure but never again. I had a quesadilla with shredded beef. No flavoring at all but I did appreciate the quesadilla because it was cornmeal based. I guess some people like it, but it's not for everybody. Tacos Mi Nacho is everything I hoped it would be. I ate at the counter, which gave me the opportunity to watch the delicious marinated meats cooking on the stovetop, slowly becoming more tender and delicious with each passing second. Seriously - the marinated beef & pork options are THAT GOOD. Tacos are served with limes on the side and garnished with a slice of tomato, shredded lettuce and cilantro, plus a little shredded cheese on top. Free nachos are provided with 3 types of salsa. It's a very authentic place - friendly but no-nonsense. The food comes out quickly. A note to my future self: order the tacos without tomato or cheese, and add some salsa instead. read more

As a burrito connoisseur, I can't believe it took me so long to find this place. I was driving home from the Meriden Mall when I found Tacos Mi Nacho using Yelp on my phone and now I'm obsessed. I'll never go to Meriden without eating here. Great prices and a very simple menu. It's hard to find good Mexican food in New England but they do it right. Not to mention they also have a cooler with real soda. I mean Coca-Cola (and other sodas) with real sugar and not corn syrup. It's the perfect meal for someone that loves good Mexican. To clarify on my "simple menu" comment: They have less than 10 menu items. All you do is choose your item and then choose from the list of main ingredients. For instance you can choose a burrito or nachos and then choose to have it made with shredded pork, chicken, etc. read more

As a side note I left my purse here by accident and they were so kind and found my number and returned it to me...they wouldn't take any cash in return for the good deed. So i came by here with one other for a quick bite to eat for work lunch hour (afternoon) PARKING: its a small, tight parking lot, and i passed it the first time since the sign on the street was facing the south side street. turned around, got to the parking and two cars in the lot are parked in correctly which made it frustrating, no street parking either. so i had no choice. STAFF: i walk in and luckily, my friend had already came early enough to snag a table; you seat yourself. you can tell the waitress and cooks looked flustered. so i hoped it was in and out, because i was time-sensitive too. They right away served us nacho chips with hot salsa and unknown green item dip (still good). they gave us a min and we ordered our app and meal. we asked to just bring everything out along with the check. just to be quick because i see they are busy. app was brought out by another waiter and once done, meals followed. we noticed the high traffic, brought our food to the front to be packaged and paid at the front as well. For me this experience was fine since it busy lunch hour did not effecting the tasty food that came out. FOOD: Guacamole dip with chips, tasted very fresh and "delicioso", asked for spicy tasted mild, but friend thought it was spicy. i have high tolerance though. He ordered the grilled chicken burrito, i ordered shredded pork/beef burrito. all very authentic tasting and on cheesy side if you're into that. i compared this restaurant and El Sarape in Hartford to be quite similar, but liked that TMN had illustrated menu to see what looks interesting and what people that aren't familiar with the food to order. read more

Ever since Jim F's review my husband and I have been wanting to try Tacos Mi Nacho. The location was always the reason why we have never been...its in a not so great area, the parking lot is way too small for such a busy stripmall, etc. Today was finally the day we decided to give Tacos Mi Nacho a shot. The menu offers a great variety of food all very cheap. There are quesadillas, burritos, tacos, tortas, tostadas, sopas, tamales, and soups such as posole and menudo. There are also a few specials and lot's of Mexican snacks, sodas, and drinks. I decided to try the "it stated with an A and had the word hog in the middle" torta. I really don't remember the actual name but it was a roast pork sandwich. It was on a submarine type roll and the pork was in a vinegar and tomato sauce with good amount of onions. This torta was gigantic. It was not spicy at all but it had amazing flavor. Unlike any torta that I have ever had. My husband ordered a burrito which was the size of a small baby. I had a horchata which is my favorite drink in the whole world and it was awesome. We also split a bag of chipotle and lime chips. Food was amazing and cheap. I had to update my review because I've been here several more times over the past year and a half, and I've been able to try many more things. Honestly, Tacos Mi Nacho is as good as it gets. When people ask me about this place, I can't recommend any one thing on the menu to try in particular because everything is that good. The food is authentic, and every option on the menu is fantastic. The tacos are made with two corn tortillas and can be topped with fresh lettuce, tomato, onion, cilantro, lime and shredded cheese. The burritos are huge, very stuffed, and grilled. The nachos are loaded with lots of toppings and made with fresh chips that they fry right there. If you eat there, you get a nice basket of these chips along with a salsa, hot sauce, and a thin guacamole. The ceviche is amazing - the raw fish is loaded with lime and cilantro flavors, and it's just fantastic served over a crunchy tostada with slices of avocado on top. The tamales are the real deal, wrapped in corn husks, with tender chicken or pork. The sandwiches and tostadas are also good choices. Every single one of the marinated meats you can choose for your tacos, burritos, nachos, etc. are full of flavor, juicy, and delicious - from the chicken to the chorizo to the lengua. The prices have gone up just a little over the past year, but they're still very reasonable, and much lower than prices you'll see at other Mexican restaurants. Tacos are $1.75, so $.25 more than a year ago, but my brother noted - and my friends all agreed - that these tacos are more stuffed. So it's like we're getting a quarter more of meat. Absolutely worth it. Also, I'm pretty full after two or three tacos, so it's a very reasonable meal. The burritos are $6.95, and they're more than a meal for me. All of the prices are reasonable considering you're getting quality Mexican food. There's also a nice assortment of Mexican sodas, and deliciously refreshing horchata. I've had the flan and also bought some of the Mexican popsicles they have - both are very sweet (pun intended) ways to end an already great meal. Parking can be a little tough because the spaces are small, and the plaza is a little difficult to pull into from the busy road, but just turn in. Great find. Thanks Yelp! Buried between laundromat and convenience store, this place is awesome AND cheap. Tacos were amazingly fresh tasting, with cilantro and lime. Soft shells. Barbacoa, carne asada, pollo and lengua. All were delicious. I'm not sure if it's a "salsa verde," but the green sauce was amazing. We had to get more of that. I didn't get the two-shell taco business, but someone explained to me that the second shell is to be used as one would use the bread as a scarpetta for Italian food -- to mop up the sauce and the extras. Lady friend had the horchata, which supposedly is hard to find around here. I had a ginger ale (party, party, party). Bill was under $20 including tip and a piece of flan. PS: Anyone who calls this area shady needs to try being around a real city once in a while. read more

My biggest gripe as stated was, the food was bland and had no kick to it at all. I had to literally whip out Adobo (seasoned salt) from my cabinet and sprinkle it over everything. To be fair now, I'm figuring (or at least hoping) that not too many seasons (if any) were added to appease people who may have high blood pressure or something. Overall though, the pricing was fair, portion was good and the place was really clean. However, I like tasting food. If I have to pay for something to eat, why should I have to season it on my own when I get home. read more

REVIEW PART ONE: After reading all of the Yelp reviews, I had to check it out for myself. Actually, I was driving through Meriden when my daughter called and asked me to bring some fast food to her at work. I decided to stop by TMN for a chicken burrito for her. Yes, she said it was exceptional. I got a piece of flan to go. The flan was 100% perfection. Now, the real meat of the review- this place, weird doors and unexpected location notwithstanding, is spotlessly clean. The ingredients I saw being prepared looked so fresh and flawless. The young woman who waited on me had no idea that I am am OCD Registered Nurse, yet she washed her hands no-less than twice just during the ten minutes or so I was there. When I first observed customers and employees in friendly talk, I assumed that they knew each other. Within a few minutes, I was included in the chatting. I didn't have enough of a meal to make a complete review, but no doubt I'll go return and write REVIEW PART TWO. I am looking forward to it, too. read more

Yum yum! I went here twice during my stay in CT. Had ordered a torta with beef the first day and a burrito with chicken the next day. The sauces they provided were delicious and both had GENEROUS amounts of meat. I loved the flavors of the meats and the delicious rice/beans with the burrito. The torta was well toasted and it was so yummy!! Pretty inexpensive, with some cilantro, lettuce and tomatoes--such a delicious torta. The burrito reminds me of Cali burritos. So it is December in Connecticut and I am freezing and looking for some true Mexican food to warm me up, at least mentally. I found Tacos Mi Nacho and was amazed at how good it is. This place is a true 5 star location given the distance from the boarder. Why is it that all great Mexican restaurants are next to the laundromat? The tacos are good. The tamale was lacking in filling, but homemade. I wanted to order off menu with carne en su jugo, but she did not know what I was talking about. I really have to thank my fellow Yelpers for leading me to this place. Even thought it's right on Broad Street, the lot is a little difficult to find. I drove past it once before getting myself turned around and back. My son loves Mexican food, so when we were in Meriden with the chance for a father-son dinner, we followed the recommendations to Tacos Mi Nacho. It's a pretty small storefront with a small section of booths as well as a take-out counter. Our waitress was prompt, friendly, and attentive, making sure that she knew exactly what we wanted. Three dipping options accompanied the basket of tortilla chips, and the two of us simply dove into a wonderful chopped veggie salsa. She brought another helping of that one before we were through. Our burritos were well stuffed and full of flavor. And big. And full of all the wonderful tastes of cheese, beans, lettuce, tomato, onion, grilled pork, and more. Others with more experience can tell you how Tacos Mi Nacho compares with dishes served in Mexico, but it all tasted really good to me. What really distinguishes this place, though, is that it feels like everybody there is a neighbor, even first-time strangers like us. Two small boys were trying to find a favorite dessert in the self-service refrigerator, and our waitress stepped over to help them out. It was on a top shelf they couldn't reach, and clearly she not only knew both of them, she knew exactly what they were looking for. As we paid our tab at the counter, I gave a glance and a good evening to one of the fellows sitting there. He grinned at me and merrily invited our waitress to add his tacos to the bill. I had passed this place about a week after moving to Meriden and wanted to try it. My roommate refused to try it because he thought it looked sketchy. Then I read the reviews, and he decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. Everything we tried was excellent, and we tried a lot of things. The prices were great and the service was fast. The food was 5 star; the location was only 3. The menu isn't lengthy, but it's very, very good. I had tostada ceviche and quesadillas rancheros (with chorizo) - both very good. My companion's burrito (beef) was generously sized and very tasty. We were both full at that point, so we didn't sample the desserts. The service was prompt and attentive. The prices were very reasonable. The only downside was the dining area - entrance is through a motion activated sliding door, which opened (and allowed a blast of cold air) every time someone passed on the sidewalk outside. read more

I'd like to give Tacos Mi Nacho 5 stars, because it's probably the best mexican you're going to find in CT, but it's not the best i've personally had, so I have to give it 4. Had a taco(carne asada), a sope(barbacoa), and a pork tamale. All 3 were top notch excellent. Flavor in all of the meats were spot on. The only complaint I had is that the corn tortillas for the tacos were mini. Iguanas Ranas in Middletown serves them mini too, can nobody find a normal size tortilla around here? To their credit, at least they aren't trying to sell them for $2.50 like Iguanas Ranas. $1.50 each, and with all the flavor packed in there, i forgot how small they were. The tomatillo salsa was out of this world as well. read more
