She looked puzzled and said, "No, that's where it's leaking." I pointed back to the puddle literally touching our table. We were apparently trapped in competing realities. Eventually the manager came over, and asking to move to a dry table was treated like a wildly unreasonable request. After a long pause she said, "I guess we could move you over there. Would that be okay?" My response was, "If it's dry, we'll take it." Unfortunately, the service never recovered. The nightly special was introduced with, "We have trout." That was the entire presentation. No description. No price. Just... trout. When it was time to order, we were greeted with a very enthusiastic, "What do you want?" The finale came when we asked for a box. The same manager returned with a tiny container and said, "I don't know if it'll fit. Do you think it will? I'm not good with Tupperware." I honestly thought Ashton Kutcher was about to jump out from behind a ficus. To top it all off, the portions were surprisingly small for the price, and charging $7 for bread felt like the final plot twist. I've had disappointing meals before. I've had mediocre service before. After our table was cleared, we waited over 30 minutes just to get our check. We also had to ask three separate times before we finally received wasabi. A couple of menu issues stood out as well. The surf and turf roll had a sweet sauce on it that wasn't mentioned on the menu, which was unexpected. We also requested eel sauce on only half of one sushi roll, but it was put on the entire roll instead. The restaurant is clean, has a nice atmosphere, and the staff was friendly, which is why I'm giving it three stars instead of less. I genuinely want this place to succeed because I remember how great it was when it first opened. I'm hoping they can improve the consistency, pay closer attention to special requests, and get back to the quality that made this one of my favorite sushi spots.
