Wow!!! This taco truck has excellent tacos at a great price! The service was friendly and quick, which is always a plus. I came on a hot day and tried their cucumber and lime agua fresca and it was fantastic! Super refreshing! The tacos were not underserved and the salsas were on point. I've tried a lot of taco trucks that look good but end up serving overly greasy foods and ok drinks but Tacos Pihuamo did not disappoint. What more can you ask for?? I highly recommend this spot!!

Woohoo! So glad we stumbled upon this tacos truck while on a bike ride along the NW Berkeley segment of the SF Bay Trail. The taco truck was parked just outside Golden Gate Fields, between the soccer/athletic field and the water. Tacos were $1.75, and they definitely don't skimp out on the fillings. They are fairly simple tacos--similar to other taco trucks in the Bay Area (they must all use the same menu board...). However, the wait wasn't long, there were picnic tables to use, and the food was good and cheap. Worth a stop if you're looking for a quick/cheap bite to eat and only have a handful of $s.

Rebecca was running the truck with her husband, and they were warm, friendly, and hard-working. That same care reflected in the food. Comforting flavors, big portions, and just what we needed. ---- Food ---- The hot dogs here are big, delicious, and fantastic value for the price. Wushu Dog: Loved this one. Inventive and delicious. Great texture, topped with pork sung and crispy cabbage, plus katsu sauce and Japanese mayo. Savory, crunchy, and satisfying. Sumo Dog: Japanese curry beef chili with cheese and fresh scallions. Hearty, comforting, and perfect for that chilly evening. Fried Foods: We didn't try, any but they serve fries and potstickers too. The fries seemed to be a crowd favorite at Great Notion Brewery next door (which is partnered with Dojo Dog). Definitely getting them next time. Rebecca told me she enjoys experimenting with new dishes, and the creativity shows. Looking forward to trying more! ---- Drinks ---- We didn't but drinks as we were enjoying beer at Great Notion, but Dojo Dog also offer drinks like milk tea. ---- Bonus ---- As I mentioned, they partner with Great Notion, one of our FAVORITE bars in the Bay with the best smoothie beers and stouts. You can bring your Dojo Dog inside and pair it with their awesome beers. Inventive hot dogs + beer = awesome evening ---- Vibe ---- Cute little food truck, family-run charm, friendly service, and an endearing hole-in-the-wall feel. The whole setup feels local and community-driven. In fact, it was originally created by Berkeley students. Very cool. ---- Overall ---- Amazing hot dogs, great beer next door, friendly owners, inventive sides, and a fun, low-key vibe. It will hit the spot every time. Can't wait to come back and try more from their menu!

The service was great and the vendor enjoyed capturing my grandsons attention and he served us up some tasty food with a big smile. My grandson and I had not problem polishing off a chicken and pork tamale. Dang they are really so good. Maybe a little on the pricey side compared to other tamale options out there, but more than worth it when you sink your chops into such fine food. I can't wait to go back the next time I'm in town! I was surprised there was no line as my friend mentioned there can be a line and the price of the taco. I ordered 3 tacos- carne asada, carnitas and language from the lady. She asked if I wanted everything on it so I said yes. She also asked if I was paying cash or card. Guess it would cost more with card. Tacos came out fast on a paper plate. The lady asked if I wanted salsa, I said yes. She gave me what I think is a salsa verde. I had taken the tacos to go eat at home. I noticed that the tacos came with a lemon instead of a lime. The tacos all had onions, parsley and maybe some salsa on top. The radishes were dry. The lengua seemed to have the most flavor than the other two. The carnitas had a couple dry pieces of meat but with some added salsa it was better. The carne asada was fine, could have a little more flavor. This taco truck will not break your wallet.

The food totally lives up to the hype. Some of the best flavor combinations I have ever had here in Berkeley (Very high praise). The dos Mole dish is a must, both mole are rich and flavorful with one chocolatey and one savory. The tacos are also to die for, you really cannot go wrong with any of them but I recommend trying the fish tacos or mole tacos if you need to choose. I have had a beer and marg here and both were great, no complaints what so ever! They are pretty fast and always sure to check in on how you are enjoying your meal. We are in search of a Baja fish taco that is satisfying since both of the places we loved either closed or stopped serving the baja style. We went to Mersea earlier for the views and to check out TI and it was uninspiring so we rambled back to the east bay and decided to try Mercado. Reviews looked good (thanks y'all, I appreciate you) and despite a few misses on the baja taco (according to some reviews) we decided to take a run at it. The man was feeling jaded after the am stop and wasn't going for the fish, I stayed neutral...no one wants their little taco loving heart broken twice in one day...ultimately, he decided to try the fish taco plate with 1 baja and one grilled. I had the poblano mole tacos w/chicken. We shared the guacamole with chips. I had cafe de olla (it is called something else here) and he had the mocktail with the ginger beer. The ordering at the counter wasn't my favorite but the spot was pretty quiet for a Friday midday and the service was still exceptional. They were attentive and responsive. I would definitely go back at the same time cuz I don't like crowds. On to the food. Dayum! Everything was good. Well seasoned, beautifully plated, and sufficient serving size. I pigged out. For real...I waddled out of that joint. Brought every drop of the leftovers home so I could have the chocolate custard (DAYUM) for dessert with the remnants of my coffee. Him: he preferred the baja style to the grilled fish. As some others have said, it can fall apart (really stuffed with goodness) but he didn't want his fixins on the side. VERDICT: he'll be back for that taco. Me: I enjoyed the mole but the chicken in chunks didn't work for me. I would have preferred it shredded. I'll try something else next time and there will be a next time. Oh, and the black beans and green rice were flavorful as well. Standing order: guacamole and chips Cafe Chocolate custard... What? No pics? Come on now. I wasn't thinking 'bout y'all when my food came. Go take your own pics.
