I was in Aurora for a couple of days and I came here twice during that stay. The taco's are very good and fresh and the salsa bar and the pico de gayo are a nice complement to your meal. I had the pork adobado (I think I spelled that right), beef and the alpastor and they were all very good. The lady also recommended some drink, It was milk with cinnamon I think. I love the food at taco Selene. But the many years i have been going there I have never had to use the bathroom until yesterday. I cannot go back to taco Selene. The bathroom was dirty , smelled so bad and extremely unclean. My suggestion for this Resturant is to have someone clean the bathroom or do bathroom Checks periodically and clean it. I can't go back to taco Selene. You know the old saying. If the bathrooms are clean that means the kitchen is clean as well. I'm afraid to know what the kitchen looks like or the hygiene of workers. Authentic, cheesy, and delicious! I've had the burritos, quesadillas, tacos, tortas, and sopes! If you aren't a fan of cilantro and onion I recommend ordering the burrito w/o. I cannot believe I haven't been to Tacos Selene until today! All I can say is I've been missing out. I was craving Mexican food for lunch and started looking for places in the area and stumbled upon all these great reviews, so I decided to check it out. It's in a random, rundown shopping center with a parking lot out front, so there is not much aesthetic appeal to the outside. However, the food inside makes none of that matter at all! I was getting takeout for lunch, so I went up to the counter to order and decided to get two barbacoa tacos and two chicken tacos. They are ONLY $1.50 each, which is quite the steal because a lot of places in the Denver area are charging at least twice as much. $6 for 4 tacos? I was a happy lady. I waited for about 3 minutes before my order was ready (enough time to watch them make fresh tortillas), so if you need something quick, this is the place. The employees were also very friendly! Anyways, back to the tacos: they were amazing. Awesome tortillas, nice portions and really good quality meats. Just enough spice to not overtake the flavor. Although I would never claim to be the judge of an "authentic" taco, they seemed pretty authentic to me. Now that I've discovered this place, I will be back a LOT because how can you beat delicious tacos for a low price? It is a little hard to noticed the simple sign that reads 'Tacos Selene' among the other understated signs in an otherwise banal shopping center. In short, don't overlook this spot. Not only that - the counter service was so sweet and patient, not rushed or annoyed as you might find at other fast-moving taco spots. Sure there's limited seating, but the turn over is so quick, you're in and out in no time, yet you still have luxury if sticking around and staying a while, too. The salsa bar is a legit, too. With all the right amount of options - but not too many to the point of overwhelming. Few things make me happier than a good hole-in-the-wall taco place. Tacos Selene fits this description. I ordered four different tacos: beef, pork, barbacoa, and al pastor. All were street tacos that were on two tasty corn tortillas and with cilantro and white onions on top. The beef and pork were solid tacos, while the barbacoa hit the spot. But it was the al pastor that stole the show. It was perfectly cooked to give a sweet + charred taste, which exactly what I hope for. It also came with grilled pineapple that was the taco's "cherry on top". I'll be ordering four of just these next time. I didn't notice any salsas or sauces to add on, but I didn't really look. But if I'm ordering the al pastor (which I will), nothing is really needed. Friendly and fast service too. I went during an off hour (2:30 on a Tue) and there was no wait. Came here for a brunch type meal. I will say I was a bit surprised with how the outside of the restaurant looked. It doesn't stand out, and is definitely a "hole in the wall" type of place. Thankfully to the yelp reviews I decided to give it a try! The inside is actually pretty decent size. With many tables. They have a salsa station with different type of heat, limes and radishes. I was greeted immediately, and given the friendliest customer service. I ordered 2 al pastors for $1.50 each, which is amazing price for food these days! Al pastor is pork with a very tasteful seasoning, not spicy, nor salty but just right! The tacos also come with grilled pineapple, which adds a very sweet taste and accents the meat very well. On a snowy Sunday afternoon most places were closed, or looking like they wish they were, but Selene's was packed. And you know it's going to be good Mexican when everyone in the place is speaking Spanish. I ordered two tacos - asada and lengua, one barbacoa sope, and a sangria soda. The lengua was nice and tender. The barbacoa was nicely carmelized - almost more like carnitas than the typical wetter barbacoa (which I liked). I can see why so many yelpers recommend the asada - it is very tasty! I'm giving it four stars instead of five mostly bcz the service was very slow for a counter order place (though that may have been bcz they weren't expecting so many ppl on a snowy Sunday). Finally, don't forget to get some salsas and pickled veggies from the salsa bar. The pickled onions are especially good - but spicy! Also, grab yourself a fork while you are there. The tacos are very most and fall apart after a couple of bites. You will be glad you have the fork to finish every delicious piece. read more

I opted for the chicken quesadilla, and my husband regularly has the beef burritos and beef $1 "tacos" for lunch. Read the other reviews here for more about these yummy tacos! It seems that the burritos are more spicy than the quesadillas, but that could have been the difference in spicy beef versus not-so-spicy chicken... The restaurant is small and you might have passed it several times on your way to a more upscale area, but next time be sure to give it a try!
