I live in Del Rey and I travel often on Venice Blvd at Sepulveda. Tamix is parked right in front of of the Shell station on Venice. You can see their bright lights from a 1/4 mile away. I'm always in a rush, so I never stop. Well tonight is my night. It was a bit cold and windy, but who cares - I get TACOS! There is always a line and folks sitting at the provided tables and seats in front of their truck. They have all your favorites, tacos, burritos, quesadillas, gringas and even fajitas! My favorite and default tacos are always going to be the carnitas and carne asada. Right after that will be Al Pastor and Chicken. They also have lingua, tripe, cabeza as well as chorizo! While they take cards, bring cash, that's the best price. Card prices are a bit more. Their prices are clearly marked on the huge menu. Orders come out quick and help yourself to the condiments bar filled with limes, pickled onions, red and green salsas and sauces, radishes, and pico de gallo. The guys behind the grill are friendly and fast. They do a great job of keeping the area clean and keeping the condiment bar stocked. They have trucks all over LA. Always down for some tacos after a late night and this was the closest spot I could find after a holiday party at our friend's house. Parking might be tough in the area though so we actually parked at the Shell and walked over to the truck. Tacos were absolutely delicious. We ended up getting 6 tacos for the two of us to share: Al Pastor, Buche, Lengua, Cabeza, Tripas. EVERYTHING WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Sauces. Pickled onions with the habaneros weren't too spicy which was nice but I'm definitely feeling it today in the bathroom but it was WORTH it. Their al pastor with piña tacos are tasty as well, much better than their carne asada tacos which also hit the spot. I would pick al pastor con pina over carne asada any day at this spot. However, if you're driving this north or south on Selpulveda this helpful since it's best to park at the Shell gas station since the taco truck is parked on Venice blvd facing eastbound. So if you want to park next to the truck your options are parking at the shell gas station or going eastbound on Venice blvd and parking next to the truck. It's challenging to navigate if it's your first time driving there, so most of the customers are locals who bike or walk there to not worry about the hassle of parking. Most of my review isn't about the parking situation but the quality of the tacos comparing it to other taco places close by. I had the Al Pastor which looks delicious and has similarities to the famous Leo's taco truck in LA. However, these tacos are more expensive, which are $2 per taco. Down the street on selpulveda there's a taco stand about 3 minutes away next to the Ross and you can get similar tasting, style, and size tacos for $1. These tortillas were thin, small and stale. The meat was sparse and didn't taste like a high quality al pastor. And for the relative price it's not worth getting the tacos. I had a carne asada taco and it wasn't seasoned at all. At the service is pretty slow. There are better taco stands that are close by like the one near Ross which is the better option or try Brothers cousins on Sawtelle. You can look them up and get more meat, better service, better tasting tacos at a better price point. read more

Two people working the truck. A nice woman at the window and since my Spanish is not good, small miscommunication. But no big deal. The spit of pork inside the truck (wanted to get its smell) getting sliced into nice chunks for the El Pastor tacos with good slivers of pineapple. Good sized beef chunks on the other. They even have a slightly heavier than normal classic white plate doubled to hold the sauced, dressed tacos layered with the condiments. And since we like to overload condiments, great plates. The pastor was better in flavor but still did not hit the spot. The tortillas were also falling apart with each bite which I believe, makes or breaks your experience when eating tacos.
