Carne asada burrito with the majority' of it, is rice.

I've been going to El Albajeno for decades.. Unfortunately the quality of food has been declining. It gets tiresome when you spend a lot of money and your order does not come out well as you planned it to be. One of the carne asada burrito barely had any meat. Majority of it was rice. We asked for no onions but there was so much inside. The other carne asada burrito had more beans than meat. We asked for no chile and but our request was denied. It's becoming to be a hit or miss with Abajeno. It makes me sad to write this review. I think the problem is they need to look at the ticket a little bit closer and to make sure that food is balanced with ingredients and flavor. This restaurant has a lot of nostalgia for our family. That is why we continue to come here but it's getting harder to support them. When we are paying for the food that should have better value.

Pretty solid bean and cheese burrito, definitely would recommend if you want a more bean forward burrito. I wish I had a photo of their menudo but that was a go to for a while, I think their menudo is one of the better ones on the westside! Service is very friendly, ambiance is a typical mexican restaurant. I like the way the menu was designed, very fun - reminds me of a Californian mexican restaurant (the type of places that sell a wet burrito). I wish they had the self service jalapenos and onions again but I think that (understandably) was removed during covid and hasn't returned.

Chile rejeno plate . Was go wet it looked like soup. The salad was brown .

I've been coming here since I was a kid. Used to live literally down the street. Have been here in years. Was really craving a fiesta burrito. Finally came down with a friend and and I am sadly disappointed. The flavor has gone down hill. Evrything was very bland. My friend got a chile rejeno plate and it looked like soup. The sevice is fast and staff are great. The ambiance is just blah. I really hate being a bad review person but we were really disappointed .

We were looking for an Asian restaurant near LAX airport to sit down for nice meal after long day at the DMV. Checking on Yelp, we got to different places but didn't like that. So this time, I suggested to have Mexican food since big Mexican population in the area. I found this location. After checking the pictures to see it's a real restaurant & wanted to give it a trial. Surprise to see it's a very nice Mexican restaurant with parkings on the side. Inside is a traditional Mexican style. I ordered Cocido de res Thats Beef soup and it was so good that my friend also wanted one. The flour tortillas is thin and not huge big. It was real good. Many customers ordered to go as well. I'll definitely come back again whenever I stopped in the area.

No line is the best at this Restaurant!

This has always been a 5 star restaurant and still is as far as the food quality but good lord these prices are outrageous now. 1 Carnitas Taco is $6.25 and 1 Carne Asada burrito is $18! Had to drop a star. Respectfully

Came here for a late lunch on a Thursday afternoon. Had the carnitas plate and it was very filling. The tacos were jam packed with carnitas and the beans were so delicious the rice was good and the chips were crispy. The good was authentic and well made. The salsa was good, not too spicy. Service was great and the restaurant is well maintained.

This place is great, my family has been coming here for over 20+ years and these tacos never fail. Worth every penny. The servers are great and if you want to step back into time this is definitely the spot. I love how they never really change the inside of the restaurant it's great. Good vibes.

Been coming here for years, everything is so good! Today I ordered pozole and although it was tasty and came with generous amounts of condiments ( cabbage, onions, lemon and chili) they did change the original recipe from the last time I ordered it, it was a much thicker dark broth than before. It tasted really good, but I like the original one from before better . The meat was so tender and delicious though My husband got the chorizo plate and finished every bit of it The rice and beans are usually so good but every once in a while, the rice is a miss, like today it wasn't warm and it was not fluffy and soft, almost seems like it was the bottom of the pan or yesterday's rice , I exchanged it for beans instead, and they gave me no problems on doing so. The original employees I believe they're probably the owners are always so nice and accommodating . I highly recommend the Carnitas taquitos, which are corn tortillas stuffed with their delicious Carnitas, avocado and cheese! Also, this place might go to when I'm craving a good bean and cheese burrito I have not tried half the things on the menu but everything I've tried so far over the years I have really enjoyed . The restaurant itself is cute, very Mexican feel for sure. This is the type of restaurant where you order in line where you pay and sit until they call your name , there is no wait service but they do have workers coming out constantly and cleaning the tables for the next guests. The place has always been clean and desirable IMO Almost every time I go there, I run into somebody I know. It's definitely a well-known spot on the west side.

Super good divey restaurant. Eat in or take out. Enormous portions enough for 2. Order at the counter. They call ur name for pick up. A bit stingy with salsa. My nachos needed pico de gallo & guacamole. Extra fee. It has been here over 50 years.

This mom and pops mexcan joint is very slept on but imma tell you....its one of the very best in the area hands down. The cheese enchiladas are something to write home about. The cheese tamales are heavy competing with king tacos tamales and the red sauce got me feening. I still had to bring my own arsenal of heat but this place did not disappoint! Must try

Old school since 1969. Years ago my co-worker brought some food to our office from this restaurant and she let me try it and it was delicious. This has been on my bucket list and I finally came by in the afternoon and ordered the breakfast dish Huevos a La Mexicana with flour tortillas. The couple in front of me in line ordered over a 100 bucks worth of food and I thought I am going to wait a long time for my order but luckily they are quick and I had my food within 10 minutes. The food was delicious and eating the chips with the refried beans was so good.

Been going to this place for years. They've got delicious carnitas taquitos that are $6.25 each but you get 2 Tortillas and can have 2 satisfying tacos from the one you ordered. They are packed with carnitas, topped with cheese and avocado. The staff has been the same for the past 10+ years. The food is consistent and enjoyable. For breakfast I love their chilaquiles. The restaurant has restrooms and indoor seating, you order at the counter and they bring food to your table.

We loved the old-school vibe immediately. We arrived around 4:45 and waited only 5-10 minutes. Then we saw the fresh tortillas being made and thought, "This could be good!" The atmosphere was relaxed, with full table service and great chips and salsa. We ordered a plate of fajitas to share and a shredded beef taco. Funny enough, I thought I was ordering a taco platter, but one lonely taco arrived on a bed of shredduce. Thankfully, it was excellent. A good shredded beef taco is surprisingly hard to find, and this was my favorite part of the meal. Overall, the food, service and atmosphere were all great. I'll definitely return. I'm from Mexico and when I first moved to the US what I first noticed was that tortillas fall apart here and are bad quality. But at madre you can tell that the tortillas like for the memelas are made in house and are excellent quality with good masa, not just like maizena. The servers are always great, my boyfriend and I love this place. This is where he had chilaquiles for the first time with tasajo and he will eat them elsewhere but nothing compares. The chilaquiles are awesome, better even than many places in Mexico. Good quality ingredients and stuff that you don't find everywhere- huitlacoche, chapulines, etc. When I brought my mom and dad my dad was eating and paused and told me he had forgotten he was in the US for a second and that it felt like home. Love this place a lot and couldn't recommend it more highly. I was reading the reviews from others and it seems clear that this place resonates with people who appreciate the diverse and multi layered tastes of Mexico and who know about the nuances of the cuisine beyond tacos and margaritas. If you want cheap tacos and a margarita this is probably not the vibe. I don't know why people come to a restaurant that has unique and specialized Oaxacan cuisine like the amazing mole and great salsas and hard to find ingredients like huitlacoche and chapulines only to buy like an asada taco and a margarita... lol
