During a recent trip to LA, I'd been craving a no frills, authentic carne asada burrito, and after searching through online and social media reviews, I decided to try Tacos La Opción. I was not disappointed. The family owned spot is small and quaint, and we were greeted immediately by the staff the second we walked in. After I ordered my burrito--carne asada with no rice, add sour cream, guac and cheese, which is an option at the bottom of the menu--my wife also got some tips on where to find a good fruit cup that you see vendors selling on the side of the road. We were given chips while we waited, so we tried out the salsa bar, and we liked every salsa we tried. The salsa bar also had limes, radishes, and pickled jalapeños, onions, and carrots for topping. I grabbed a bit of everything to toss on my bites, and I was glad I did. Not that the burrito needed it--it was just another awesome layer to a phenomenal burrito. The carne asada burrito was huge, and took less than 5 minutes to come out. I thought I'd just eat half and save the rest for later, but then my wife took a bite and decided she was in too, so we proceeded to scarf the thing down together. We'll definitely be back, both for the service and the food--everybody please go try it! You won't be disappointed. read more

I'm embarrassed to say I hadn't tried this place yet, and I live around the corner. I went all the way to Mexico City and hadn't tried the local taco shop. But now I have! It's a little dumpy inside to be honest, but I liked the funky proud Mexican paintings. We ordered a few different tacos, and got some tortilla chips and variety of sauces and everything was great. I haven't sampled the menu extensively, but it's local and it was good, so I would be willing to investigate further and I'll be back for more tacos. They take ApplePay. read more

Lunch at around 1:30 PM today. My brother-in-law was with me, he was glad to see a few empty tables. He told me this is his favorite Mexican "hole in the wall" restaurant. He lives in Mar Vista. And LOOK AT THE PRICES in my photos! ¡Gracias a Dios! Do not skip the salsa bar. I really enjoyed the salsa verde, radishes, pickled carrots onions + jalapeños, and of course, a lime. They serve breakfast all day. They had a steady stream of customers. A lot of people came in and got their orders to go.. While I can't speak for all of their dishes on the menu, I must say their chile relleno and enchilada are as exceptionally authentic as they are exceptionally tasty. Cantina-quality Mexican food at a fraction of the price, without the frills one would expect at a cantina. Ambiance is casual and laid back--not fancy by any means, but the food is superb. This is a family-run business with Leti at the helm. Leti and her staff, including her son, are a joy to talk to and be around. I especially enjoy their light and crispy tortilla chips and diverse array of salsas. Great spot all around, especially for a lunchtime meal! read more

The service here was wonderful. I love the self-serve salsa bar, they were all extremely delicious! The tacos were tasty, the shrimp and crispy tacos were our favorite. I used to love this place. Unfortunately the evening staff has caused a major issue. I asked them what to order for our son, and she suggested enchiladas for our three year old. Specifically with no spice. Upon ordering she said she understood no spice - and said there is no spice in the enchilada. In both Spanish and English I verified this. When the food was served it was super spicy. All the other food was fine, but our child's order was messed up. I took it up and politely said we are enjoying our meal yet this enchilada is too spicy for a three year old. We need something he can eat. I politely asked can you remake as we originally requested? She said no and threw away our food! She said everything is spicy there. My wife is Hispanic and could not believe what we were witnessing. I said huh? We ordered zero spice and eat here regularly. This is unacceptable. I have to file a complaint with our bank to get a refund. It's a shame because I love small businesses. Yet treating a family like this is not ok. The nail salon I go to is next door to this spot so usually I will order food to take home after my appointment. I love the carne asada fries and the sopes. All the ingredients taste very fresh and their salsas are really good too. Don't skip their churros or Horchata either! The place is small but the service is great. The employees are always very friendly. I've even tried their fish tacos and they're really tasty too. So safe to say, I haven't had anything bad there. Came in for an impromptu lunch and found a hidden gem with friendly staff and delicious tacos. I ordered two carne asada, one al pastor, and one fish taco and my favorite was the al pastor. The meat was tender and flavorful and was one of my favorites al pastor tacos I've ever had. I used to not like al pastor but I realized I just haven't had GOOD al pastor tacos until now. OMG. Some of the best tacos I've had in Los Angeles! First, the service was friendly and fast. I ordered 3 tacos with rice & beans and a drink. While waiting for the tacos, I was given a small serving of warm tortilla chips. When I went to the salsa bar, I was met with very delicious options. I had to try them all! They were each wonderful. Good little Mexican restaurant not far from our house. I ordered the #2 with cheese enchiladas (my favorite!), black beans and rice. Boyfriend had the beef burrito with refried beans and rice, and a coke. $30 with a 15% tip. Lunch came with two small containers of tortilla chips which tasted homemade, and a trip to the fresh salsa bar with several tasty salsas and pickled vegetables. It's a small place on Washington Blvd, just a block east of the Costco near Lincoln Blvd. They have a decent salsa bar with mild and spicy salsa, marinated carrots, radishes, etc. Sadly I didn't have a chance to take a photo of the food, as I ate it too quickly.
