Mexican dark lager (extra from michelado)
    Ethel R.

My partner and I had another reservation at a restaurant nearby and arrived a bit early with some time to kill. We saw Loqui had a happy hour and it was a hot summer day so we decided to get a drink and cool off. He ordered a michelado and I got a cucumber margarita! I personally am not a fan of michelados, but he thought it was pretty good. They gave him the extra beer which was really nice! The cucumber margarita was very refreshing and there was ample seating for us to chill and just enjoy our cool drinks :)

Wow, I ordered this place for delivery and I was very much pleasantly surprised. I'm not sure what they season their chicken with but it was delicious and so tender. Their hot salsa and the salsa that comes with the chips and salsa was also very delicious. Will definitely plan to visit in person and try it fresh but even delivery was very fast!

Their melon juice was also very good Service | server was nice and food came out fast Parking | mall garage / street Notes | outdoor seating, order first and they bring food to you

LOQUI a bit sad I just discovered this spot, but better sooner than later right? @eatloqui specializes in modern Baja and Yucatán-inspired Mexican cuisine, with a menu that features rice bowls, fresh tortillas, housemade salsas, and protein options such as birria beef, achiote chicken, pork cochinita, spicy garlic shrimp, and more! Everything is crafted from fresh, wholesome ingredients, and you can definitely tell the difference in the quality of all their menu offerings. Loqui is definitely my new go-to spot for fast casual (but healthy!) Mexican food! Featured here: spicy garlic shrimp rice bowl birria beef rice bowl achiote chicken taco

I was visiting my mom from DC and we did a tour of the Sony Picture Studios just down the street. Since I was in CA, I wanted good Mexican food for lunch and found this spot on Yelp. It's near a parking garage and in a small shopping center with boutique shops. They have a few spots to sit inside and space outside (they also have a bathroom - bonus!) We ordered 3 tacos to share (birria, pork, spicy garlic ship) which was plenty and each was flavorful. If I lived nearby, I'd go once a week :)

So impressed with the taste & quality. They're doing what chipotle is doing just wayyyyyyy better. Quality is apparent with each and every ingredient. Prices are fair too. If thinking about trying it just do it

Well this is the first time that I tried Loqui and I have to say the Chicken Plate is a bit underwhelming. There is a bit of the flavor but it was more or less forgettable. Nothing really stood out and despite the nice presentation and colors, there is just no real distinctive flavor, even with the chili sauce. The chips are a bit better at least. I am willing to try a different protein to see if that will improve, however.

Chicken Bowl (I got no beans)

First time trying Loqui today. I was excited to support local and not go to chipotle for once. I got the chicken bowl, no beans, to go. They forgot cheese on my bowl, great start. Also they only have Cotija cheese for bowls/tacos. The chicken is good and taste FAR superior to chipotle buts it's dry af. They don't have sour cream and the salsa container they give you is small, but it's good salsa. Smoky. Tortillas are fine, but nothing crazy. Guac is good and I like that they have pickled red onion. Again taste is OK, but the execution is awful. I'll come back to give them another chance but a chipotle bowl would have hit harder than this.

Love the way this spot is serving bold and fresh flavors! Finally got around to trying and I'm glad I did. Ordered delivery and it took about 20 min to arrive from Studio City to NoHo Arts District. I'd probably give it 3.5 overall, a few flavor tweaks would bump it to a 4. The menu is simple and there are a variety of protein options to choose from (even veggie -- that isn't bell peppers!) We went with 1/2 chicken and 1/2 shrimp - great portion. Bowl already comes with rice, beans, pickled onions, and guac. We added lettuce just to try. The lettuce wasn't necessary - it was shredded and probably better in taco. The rice was fluffy and had a good amount of flavor - could have used more. Beans were not seasoned and didn't have much flavor, overall. I'd still get the beans and rice as they pair well with the protein options. The pickled onions and guac were solid! Loved the brightness the pickled onions provided. Guac was well balanced and had good flavor. I would get extra pickled onions next time. There aren't a lot of topping options, which isn't a bad thing! We also tried the cochinita pibil taco. It was very oily, so I probably wouldn't get it again. It was a bit salty for my liking, but it may taste good in a bowl as the rice and beans could absorb the flavor. I would try another protein next time. Their salsas are excellent! The 'chip salsa' was chunky and had a fresh flavor. The red salsa sort of reminded me of a taqueria salsa -- packed a punch but enjoyable. The 'black salsa' was my favorite. It was light and had a very bold flavor with a good amount of heat. It reminded me of an aguachile type of sauce - tasted really good with the shrimp I got!

ORDER HERE: https://loqui.opnl.co/emailphoebeeats New customers get 20% off their first order. Download the Loqui app in the App Store or use the link to place your order. Loqui, located in The Platform in Culver City and four other SoCal locations, was started by friends inspired by flavors they experienced throughout Mexico, particularly the Yucatan and Baja regions. Tacos come in flour or corn tortillas. I know flour tortillas sound sacrilegious to us Angelenos, but trust, the tacos aren't wimpy street tacos, these are hefty like burritos. I tried the birria, shrimp, mushroom, and their best seller chicken tacos. The mushrooms are packed with unami and will satisfy even the biggest carnivores. The shrimp taco and birria taco are different twists with traditional flavors that pack a punch. Be sure to try their smoked habanero and chile de arbol salsas. Also.. make sure to get an order of the chips and guacamole. Loqui is generous with the portions and that combination of the creamy guacamole with the salty crisp of their chips is perfection. It also comes with their house salsa which bursts with freshness.

Loqui is like chipotle but a lot better! I got the half garlic shrimp half chicken bowl and everything was delicious. It's such a nice, balanced, and filling meal. I do wish there was a really punchy flavorful salsa that came with it, the sauces are not that flavorful, and that's my only complaint.

Spicy Shrimp taco with a perfectly warmed flour tortilla
    Gennie H.

Okay Spicy Shrimp taco!!!! Yummy... was working in the area and decided to give this place a try. I was not disappointed with that first bite.... Flour tortilla was warmed to my liking.... Just a little crunch! The shrimp cooked perfectly. The sauce is delicious, but I could not get the true flavor of it due to the cilantro and onion. Love the balance of the shredded cabbage!!! Now, I love me some Jamaica, but this one need a little more sugar for my palette. I like mine on the sweeter side. I was able to taste the flower which has a bitter taste. Now, parking sucks!!!! However, that first bite into that taco was worth it

Anaheim Chile Taco (flavorful, not spicy)
    Shilpa D.

I stopped by today and had the Anaheim Chile Taco and it was good. Service was also quick and friendly. And their homemade hot sauce was also delicious. I'll definitely try their other locations closer to me as well!

    Any taco Tuesday deals? :)

    Unfortunately not at the moment;(

    Is this location cashless?

    yes

Are the rice, beans and mushrooms, and corn/flour tortillas all vegan? Thank you!

    Yes!

Do you franchise or how do you consider new locations? My son really wants one in Studio City and you'd do incredibly well here.?

Hi Mike, Thank you for reaching out. We are working on new locations and the Valley is somewhere…

Can i get chicken breast in any of the chicken dishes?

Hi Pablo - we only serve chicken thighs as the chicken option and not breast. Hope this helps!

What happened to the moist flavorful chicken - the last two times I've gone in to Loqui it's been dry flavorless chicken and a soul-less environment?

Hi Ari M, I'm not sure what it could be since we haven't changed our marinade, the type of chicken…

Do you use seasonings with MSG?

    no

Is the chicken used white or dark meat?

    We use thighs

Is your cooking oil GMO, meaning conventional canola or vegetable oil(which means it has canola in it)?

We use a 90/10 canola & olive blend. Hope this helps

    What beer options are there?

Just a couple of craft beers($6.00) in a bottle and I think Modelo($5.00)

You have an outdoor space. Is this place dog friendly?

Yes!!! You're welcome to sit out front at the 3 tables we have outside or in the back patio

Are the mushrooms cooked on the same surface or within proximity to the meats?

Yes, but we clean the griddle beforehand.

Does anyone know what oil they use to cook their chicken?

    90/10 blend

Does this place have a taco tuesday? If so, what are the prices?

    Unfortunately we do not

What's the way to order food not spicy? I've failed after four attempts so far, and that means the food is brutally spicy, like physical pain after each bite. Today I ordered no onions, then removed the guac and it worked out pretty well.

    Go back to the Midwest?🤷🏻‍♂️

Are the flour tortillas vegan or are they made with butter?

    Vegan

    Are high chairs available?

    Yes

Orders come out quick and help yourself to the condiments bar filled with limes, pickled onions, red and green salsas and sauces, radishes, and pico de gallo. The guys behind the grill are friendly and fast. They do a great job of keeping the area clean and keeping the condiment bar stocked. They have trucks all over LA. I had ingested several bites of it, (with hot sauce), but I couldn't take another bite. The meat was chemically contaminated & I got sick not long after for the whole night. It was important for me to tell the person that runs the stand. I had the best of intentions to help this business and wanted nothing in return. I walked up to the stand & asked the woman who takes the cash, (with the sharp eyebrows), if I could please speak to the person in charge, (or owner). At first she ignored me & then said, "I don't understand - no speak English." I asked who speaks English and she sent me to the back of the line by the cooks. I stood there for another 10 minutes and no one wanted to talk to me or answer my question. I told them that there was a big problem with their meat the night before & had brought back the entire meal, so they could try the meat. No one did anything except talk to each other in Spanish, (which I understood). The cook graciously offered me a replacement meal & tried to problem solve. The tall man, who spoke English, (as shown next to cashier Karen in the photo), was going to give me a replacement meal. I waited 15-20 minutes. I asked for the chicken quesadilla, and the vitriol that came out of cashier Karen, who said she didn't speak English was unbelievable. She refused to give me any food and said I had to pay $6 for the replacement taco. I tried to tell her that it was a replacement and she kept yelling aggressively at me and said, "no - you pay $6. You're not getting anything " and that I, "never bought any taco." She became angry and verbally abusive because I was getting a replacement meal, as a solution to my getting chemically poisoned. She was a bully and aggressively yelling at me to humiliate me in front of the other customers & personnel. By this time she had no problem speaking English. (A group of young ladies started talking to me, felt bad that I was the focus of cashier Karen's rudeness. They complimented me & wished me a good night.) The guy next to cashier Karen handed me the bag with the quesadilla. I asked cashier Karen for her name and she ignored me. Then I asked the guy next to her what her name was and he put his hands together like duck lips and rudely opened and closed his hand at me, (meaning that I'm talking to much) This was extremely inappropriate & as soon as I left, I threw the food out, because I didn't trust or hold it past any of them to have put something nasty in my food. By the way, there was never a possibility that I would be refunded. By this time I was so upset, I was sorry that I had generously tipped them the night before. Even cashier Karen's response to the tip had been of surprise; but then I remembered she had not even acknowledged it or said thank you, after receiving it. What this staff does not, is that I owned and operated a successful fine dining restaurant & wedding venue for 17 years. I have done consulting for small restaurant businesses, pro bono, in order for the businesses to financially thrive. I know how food is cooked, how it should be stored, when the oil needs to be changed, marketing, accounting, et al., as well as the health dept's requirements, in order to keep the public healthy and well. What I believe happened to the meat and reason I took my food back to the taco stand; is because they had been out of chicken. Since there was a meat shortage, more carne asada needed to be barbecued quickly. An abundance of lighter fluid was used to quicken the process & it possibly got on the grill, where the meat is placed; and the cooking process started well before the coals were ready. It shouldn't matter whether you go to a restaurant, food truck or taco stand, customers should be treated with respect, kindness & consideration - and it's called customer service. A customer shouldn't be lied to, yelled at, insulted and humiliated by any employee of the business. It should be run in a transparent and professional manner. I'm 64 yrs young & have never written one negative comment or review about any restaurant. Nor have I ever been treated with such disrespect, malice and ill intent. I felt it important to tell my story because nobody should experience what I did; in eating compromised food and then being made to feel like I did something bad. This is what bullies do and I've never had a problem in clarifying right from wrong, as well as responsibility and accountability. I didn't have a choice and had to give a star.

It is a small space, but well appointed, candy to the eye, very high up there in summer ambiance, a cool breeze, toe tapping music and the relax vibe. It is difficult to imagine that you are actually in the Los Angeles area. I came here for their 4-course $35 Dine LA Lunch menu. Always looking for something different, I started with the Papas Al Mole. It was overdosed with Crema and Queso Fresco, burying the papas. Less of Mole, thats okay, yet this concoction sogged up the whole top layer of fries and made them worthless. Why do eateries do that? For the second course, Aguachile De Sandia Y Tomate. The star here were the wedges of heirloom tomatoes. They blended well with the watermelon cubes and light touch of Aguachile (not too acidic). Exactly my style, a superb dish. Perfecto. For the main (a hand held choice), for me, the Carne Asada Taco. The Arrachera marinated flank steak pieces were soft, tender, juicy and bursting with flavor. Think dissolution on the taste buds. A well orchestrated combination of a few condiments to highlight the meat (as it should be), all housed in a fresh, lightly toasted tortilla shell that was both crisp and soft. Though a very simple presentation, this taco was a masterpiece in culinary construction and prowess. For the final and fourth course, a no brainer, Churros with chocolate sauce. They could have ended on a high note but did not. Why? The 3 small churro cylinders were cute and ideal, but they were accompanied with a chocolate paste (not a sauce, as per the menu). Thus, taking away the thrill and viscous liquid pleasure of chocolate. As it transpired, this was the last restaurant on my Dine LA "To Do List". And I knew I would pay a price for it, in terms of travel. Getting there, the parking, and the slow, choking traffic crawl back to the SFV, more than lived up to its expectations. The whole round trip, with dining, took almost 4 hours. And yes, the Butterfly was worth it. A fitting finale, for new discoveries and creative eating, during these 2 fantastic weeks of Dine LA. If only they could modify the first and last courses. Oh well.
