I will start this review by saying that the food was delicious. And it came out in a timely manner. However, almost all the tables we could see had a problem with their checks (our table included). The manager was SO nasty to the wait staff...it was so upsetting and discouraging to see. After berating our waiter about the mistake he made with our check (in front of us!!!), he didn't even give us any kind of discount or coupon for a future visit. All the tables around us were watching what was happening and felt uncomfortable. It was not the kind of atmosphere you want when you're dining at a fun place with great food. Don't know if we will be returning. read more

Came here for an lunch midweek so the place was empty besides us. Nevertheless, the service was great. We started with the guacamole, which was delicious. Then my husband and myself both had tacos. I had the carne asada with cheese and he had the suadero tacos. The flavor of the meat and accompaniments was awesome, however the tortilla was extremely soggy which made it messy to eat. That is my only complaint, have the tortillas not be soggy & they have amazing tacos. read more

Food was fine...however the handling of a mix up by the restaurant was extremely poor and uncomfortable. We ordered an appetizer that was brought out to the table next to us by accident. The table next to us knew they didn't order anything considering they just sat down without a waiter present but proceeded to eat the food. When I asked where our food was I was told that it was coming soon. So the waiter proceeded to the other table and realized they shouldn't have received anything and an argument ensued when the waiter decided to take the food away or charge those customers. Considering we were 3 inches away we had the pleasure of listening to the whole thing. The manager eventually came over to apologize to their table and gave them an appetizer for free without even addressing us. I understand mix ups happens In a busy restaurant but at least fix the whole issue not just part of it, especially when I'm sitting there having to endure the whole thing. Our waiter was also missing in action the entire time we were seated except when we ordered and when it was time to pay. Many more Mexican style restaurants in the hk area, an area that I live, that will be getting our business. read more

Came here for dinner Friday evening and didn't like it much. It was SO loud you could barely speak to each other. They sat us in basically the worst table in the restaurant - right adjacent to the bar and in the middle of a walkway so anyone trying to get past the people standing at the bar and our table whacked me in the back with their bags and coats, which as you can imagine is infuriating when you're trying to eat dinner. We got guac, tacos and margaritas - which were all nice but for the price, totally not worth it. I was expecting small tacos after reading the yelp reviews - but these things were legitimately TINY. Not sure how they can justify that as a main meal. $90 for 3 people later we were only there for about 45 mins and had to leave because we couldn't have a conversation and I was getting hit by every person walking by. Made a reservation at Tacuba and then ended up being 30 minutes early. They accommodated us for my husband's birthday with a sweet little table for two in the back corner. The service was fantastic, we had the spicy guacamole and it was great. My husband had the Carne Asada and I had the chicken enchiladas, rice and beans on the side. We had coffees after dinner and thoroughly enjoyed our experience before a show. 5/5 !!!! highly recommend! read more

Must go back. We had drinks, shots and great food. All dishes ordered within our party of 7 were awesome. Great atmosphere and everyone is friendly. Our waiters (Juan Elias) service to us was amazing. He definitely made the experience a great one. Although we were out for a girls night out, I realized that many families were there with smaller children, So I would definitely try it again for other events. This is without a shadow of a doubt one of the best dinners I have ever had. I started the meal with queso and tortillas. While normally I am not a fan of such cheesy dips, this restaurant has changed my opinion. It started off on a very high note and only got better from there. For the main course I inhaled arroz con camarones. Everything from the sauce of the shrimp to the taste of the rich creamy rice beneath it was absolutely perfect. As a side order I had some Brussels sprouts. Before eating thee I had never imagined anything could taste so good. For desert I ordered some churros and they were wonderful. The two dipping sauces were amazing but I liked the caramel more. This was an overall perfect experience and I wish I could give more than 5 stars. read more

This place not only has great food and a great atmosphere but the service is tremendous. It is rare for places theses days to have pride as they do here. The staff works together. Went here for a quick lunch and a good margarita. Everything we ate and drank was fantastic! The skinny margarita is made with grilled pineapple and was amazing. Our bartender was awesome. Would definitely go back, especially for the great sounding brunch they offered. read more

Easily favorite Mexican food spot in Hell's Kitchen. Have been multiple times and the food is always great. Very strong margaritas as well with fun flavors. We were rushed and they told us we could only have the table for a certain amount of time which would have been fine but we waited over an hour to be seated. I asked for chips and salsa and they brought me chips and some orange liquid. You will be charged $3 for this. We ordered steak tacos and octopus and chorizo tacos. They were ok. Not very well seasoned. We also ordered spicy kale salad which is a very small portion and not spicy but was good. We also ordered avocado fries which were crispy yet very bland. Thank goodness for the dipping sauce to give it some taste. Lastly the micheladas - spices on the rim but no flavor in the beer. I might as well just ordered a beer. This place is always busy. I was strolling around during my lunch break and stumbled across this restaurant near my office and decided to take a chance! The lunch selections are very appetizing. However, I'm starting 2017 off on the right foot and am trying to be healthy so I settled for their "Ensalada de Jicama" w/ grilled chicken and tamarind dressing! It was delicious! I also decided to try a little dessert and had their vanilla custard flan w/ rasberry sauce sprinkled w/ caramel popcorn on top and edible blossoms!!! The price was reasonable. Tacuba delivers an outstanding experience. We went on a Friday night and the place was packed with lively diners. I expected a wait but was immediately seated and drinks were in hand in less than 2 minutes! The menu is very tight and the dishes are inspired. The ceviche comes in 3 attitudes - have them all!!! The brisket taco simply melted away when you placed it in your mouth. The food, as mentioned, is top notch. But what really sets this place apart is the service. Our waiter, Angel, was gracious, informative, entertaining and fabulously efficient. He was supportted by an army of. bus people who made sure your glass was never empty or that your table got cluttered. Simply outstanding!! A must eat place in Hell's Kitchen. read more

The service was quick to give us the mezcal margarita, they only did a check in once which is fine , don't care, what upsets me is when restaurants charge normal pricing for cocktails and serve really bad house liquor. Bad to the point that my friend and I both had that horrible feeling after you happen to drink cheap liquor or too much liquor and you wake up a few times in the middle of the night and have a massive hang over next day - only to trace your steps back and realize you didn't finish a bottle of mezcal , but it damn felt that way with one and a half mezcal margaritas. I am still recovering and it's a terrible feeling. I have mezcal margaritas all the time in my two favorite bars in my neighborhood and I never get this feeling. Just go here for food but definitely don't pay overpriced for cheap liquor that's gona f up your following days to come. I drink 2-4 drinks generally and I still don't feel this way next day. It's been 2 days and I still feel hung over after a drink and a half. I understand it's covid and restaurants are finding ways to save money, but this is just F'd up. And like I said my friend and I both had that feeling of being sick from having consumed cheap liquor, not just one person. I hope the owners change their brand of mezcals or lower the price and put a disclaimer that it's house alcohol. Oh and these are not covid symptoms, this is straight up sick feeling from cheap alcohol. read more
