My first sushi in Hawaii. Since I have been back 3 times in 4 weeks. The fish is melt in your mouth fresh and I love the spicy scallop hand roll. So good! The staff is very friendly and even have there favorites that they invite you to try. I was lucky enough to get a spot at the sushi bar the last 2 times. I have read the reviews of this place and many people claim that this is the best japanese restaurant on the west side so one day I was around the area and thought I'd check it out and see what all the fuss was about. First of all I beg to differ, there are alot of japanese restaurants that are way better than this one , both food and service wise. I must have had a new waiter or something because he gave me the wrong order...not once, but TWICE!! and when I did receive the correct order, my Tonkatsu was was dry, I don't know what they put in tempura sauce but it didn't taste good at all!! I truly had better and the kicker.... I also ordered the Dynamite Roll, it tasted pretty good at first until I got home and became ill. I know for a fact that it was the Dynamite Roll that got me sick because my girlfriend also ate the Roll with me and she too became sick. First impressions are a big thing with me, I'm never going back there again!! read more

BUTTER FISH!!!!! this is my favorite there. Went to eat there on three different occasions. Sometimes it's freezing cold in there. The service was always great and the food always good. A bit pricey but what do you expect for Japanese food it's always pricey yet delicious. read more

my fam's favorite PROS: food is DELICIOUS!!!! it's pretty japanesey if you ask me...which is nice. it's a hit or miss in terms of how crowded it is, but for the most part you can get a table pretty fast (the weekends is a different story). And the food comes out pretty fast too (a must for hungry people like me). the service is excellent and they are very attentive! CONS: parking in pearl kai is always horrible. and when you do have to wait, you're usually waiting for a while (with no place really to sit). when its really crowded, sushi takes a while. WHAT I ATE: - MISO BUTTERFISH TESHIKO: SUPER YUMMY butterfish with daikon, "veggies", which is small servings of pickled something and this other pretty good pickled black stuff. and miso soup. 4 out of 5 people in my family order this when we come here. just watchout for bones. - CATEPILLAR ROLL: standard catipillar roll, avacado and black tobiko (fish eggs) on i think a california roll, with the (i call it) unagi sauce - HAWAII FIVE-O: i forget what this was, but i know we ordered it. i also remember being unimpressed witht his one - SOFT SHELL CRAB ROLLL: my dad's fave. i like the sweet chilli sauce they put on it WHY MY FAMILY LOVES HERE: we've celebrated birthdays here for a long time. it's pricier that the normal night out for dinner, which is why we only really come here a couple times a year. we mainly come here for the BUTTERFISH! our family loves butterfish! also, we are big sushi roll people, which there is a lot to pick from. the other main reason why we come here is cause it's close to home in aiea. read more

The service was very good and the staff was friendly. They had a nice selection of sake which I love to enjoy with my sushi. The prices were reasonable for sushi and for Hawaii. My friend had a piece of nigiri sushi that had a clam on it he said was a bit chewy, but I'm pretty sure clam is supposed to be chewy. Overall very great experience. read more

Authentic Japanese this is not. I don't think they know what 'Irrashai' means since they just lazily say it. Also, the waiters and host just hang out in the back. Atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired since there's boxes laying stacked in the rear in plain view of tables. And not hidden in any way. The sushi was not good. The sukiyaki was bland. How do you do that? People near us ordered sukiyaki too. We left before we could see their reaction. I remember this place being much better when I went there 9 or 10 years ago. I think the owners are different. I recommend trying out the Japanese place a few stores down instead. That reminded us more of Japan than Tadashi. Two stars. Am I being nice? Well, they do have a lot of tables and look like they can handle big groups. I guess that's something. read more

My girlfriend and I come here quite often for the fried Hirame served with ponzu. Not many places serves this kind of delicacy. The sashimi is also good. Speaking of places, there aren't very much great sushi places on this side of the neighborhood. I think their rolls are their specialty, we typically the Hawaii Five-0 roll because of the unagi wrapped inside out with the different sashimi fixings on the top. If your looking for great grade sashimi, you need to catch a ride into town, but if you need that quick fix, give here a stop, the Chefs are cool dudes, and the food is way better than Kuru Kuri and Genki. Fresh catch is mo' bettah than the stuff that sits on the rotating train station. Don't get me wrong, i do eat there, but Tadashi has a little more substance on their dishes. read more

We both had the mixed Tempura Dinner with side veggies. It was very good, a little oily but still very crisp. Portions were great, miso soup and side veggies were tasty. If it had less oil, 5 stars for sure. The green tea was wonderful as well. Loved it all. read more

Whenever we want great sushi, this is where we go. If we want great Japanese food, this is where we go. If we want great service, this is where we go. Tucked away in the Pearl Kai Shopping Center, it is truly a gem outside of town and definitely holds its own. The misoyaki butterfish and chicken karaage are just few of the dishes that we love. If you get the chance, eat at the sushi bar where you get the chance to interact with the guys who actually do their magic. Oh yea, get the Asahi Black Beer (burp), very good with sushi. And every time we go there, I'll always ask, surprise me on one sushi selection. Tadashi is located in the same shopping complex as Kuru Kuru and Vitamin Shoppe but more towards the back by the gym. Tadashi was recommended to me by my cousin. I'm always open to trying new things and Tadashi did not disappoint. If you're looking for Japanese cuisine in a small quiet setting then this is the place for you. The staff is very friendly, and food arrives in a timely manner. Average price for a dish is around $10 to $20. Portion sizes are reasonable but you kinda have to order more than one thing to get full. I would recommend this place to my friends and family. read more

A/C seemed a tad low...hubby was sweating up a storm after drinking the hot tea! We both had the tonkatsu for lunch. Nice piece of meat for each of us and I was truly stuffed afterwards. Didn't like the fact that deliveries where done via the front of the restaurant...especially since we were right near the doorway and saw the traffic. 1st time there and probably will not be our last! Wouldn't take my AMEX card. Seemed a bit pricey for the atmosphere in the bright of day. No sushi for us since no RICE diet. read more

Decent Japanese restaurant on the westside. Located in Pearl Kai, you can save yourselves the traffic-laden trip into town. Tuna tataki wasn't that great. I think I may be spoiled by Doraku's $6 happy hour tuna tataki. $16 at Tadashi and it was served at room temp and bland flavors. Tonkatsu was pretty good. Hot soba was overcooked so the noodles were soft. Cold soba was much better tho. Make a rezy because this place gets packed! read more

Sushi was pretty good. Sashimi portions are thicker compared to Ghenki. I tried the teriyaki chicken and it wasn't that great. Way too much teriyaki sauce on chicken and it was a bit bland. A little on the pricey side. But not too bad of a sushi dining experience in Pearl city. read more

Absolutely love this Japanese restaurant. I always enjoy eating their tonkatsu teishoku. Even with the construction going on, it's still worth the drive. And it's also next to coffee or tea, one of the favorite bubble tea shops. I usually come here for family dinners, but my mom and I couldn't resist eating here for lunch! read more

Tadashi is by far our fave sushi spot in Hawaii. The family and team that runs this place is amazing... They remember us, our order, and fave drinks. They are always happy hosts and the sushi is simply fresh, well prepared, plated perfectly and delicious. We have tried many other places nearby and they all fall far short of Tadashi. Our hot tea never get less than half empty and is refilled, and our fave is the Asian Lobster roll, the Crunchy Roll, and Salmon Sashimi. Time for sushi!!!!! read more

I was craving shrimp tempura and found this place in Aiea. It was delicious and reasonably priced! Had a fantastic time and our waiter Levi was super fun and nice to us. Not a long wait either. Lots of options to choose from, too. Will be coming back soon! read more
