OK so I finally came back. I was short on time and was hoping Ohana BBQ would have some cheap ready made bentos soI could grab and go. No such luck. After looking at the menu and seeing some decent prices I decided on bento#7. I comes with Korean fried chicken, chop chae, Kim chee and beansprouts all for just $11. Since they had to cook the chicken I decided to eat in the restaurant. Looked not bad when I first got it. The chicken was piping hot but I didn't care for the flavor, the shoyu was too strong. The chop chae looked really plain compared to the menu pic, I got just noodles with very little cabbage. The chop chae the best part of my lunch, looked simple but the texture and flavor was spot on. I was also surprised on how good their Kim Chee was. Not too sour, a little on the fresh side just how I like it. I don't know if I would return, it wasn't that good. read more

The uncle that works there is always super nice and the food is always tasty. My go-to is the fish jun and my kids love it. The side dishes are full of flavor and don't disappoint. I've been coming here since they opened more than 15 years ago. We used to come here for breakfast before my mom took us to school. Back then, I'd get Okazu bbq chicken+eggplant tempura+scoop of rice and I was good to go! If we were running early then we'd get the Plate A (two eggs, port sausage, rice) which is made to order. Alllll these years later and I still come here...now with our own kids. My daughters are a fan of the Plate A Breakfast and my go-to is usually the Bento 5 (Tempura Eggplant, rice, kimchee, bean sprouts, chicken katsu and bbq chicken). Their CHICKEN KATSU IS ALWAYS TENDER & JUICY YET SUPER CRISPY! It's one of our favorite chicken katsu plates on the island because it's so consistent with how fresh it tastes compared to other takeout bbq type places such as L&L. It's a small family owned business and they're quiet but so nice and they really do appreciate the customers. Ambiance is casual and they even have a dine-in/take-out sushi side which sells bubble drinks. Honestly I was hoping to find a hidden gem. I love stopping by mom and pop shops but this was so unsatisfying. I ordered a breakfast plate B. With bacon and cheese and fried rice. The cheese I think is mozzarella cheese and definitely isn't the usual cheese for breakfast omelettes. The bacon in the omelette was good, but the fried rice was absolutely disgusting. It doesn't even appear to be fried! It just looks like white riced mixed with veggies. This was a waste of money I spent almost $15 on this and didn't even eat half of it. The restaurant was empty and it had 2 different sides to it the sushi side as the bbq side. There was 1 other person there when I was ordering. We cleaned our plates! It's an older place in a strip mall and offering Sushi and Korean BBQ choices. Service was good. My daughter gets California rolls everywhere and really liked hers. Tasted very fresh. I got the Ohana roll thinking I'd have a couple bites and finish the whole thing. Honeydew melon bubble drink was good. Beef bulgogi comes with four sides you can pick. Breakfast prices look very reasonable. Everyone was very nice to us and table service was great. I especially liked the classical music playing. Ohana is in that big shopping center across from the Best Buy. The store is located on the far right side if you're looking toward the mountains (left if you're looking at the water). This unassuming place makes some fairly delicious sushi. I've only been one time so I cannot comment on their other food, but my sushi--Ohana Maki special--was pretty good. I should also mention that I'm not a sushi connoisseur but know what good food tastes like and this wasn't bad. I think I got eight large pieces for $13 or so. Not too bad. While they do have a dining area, it's quite small. Maybe like 6-8 tabletops more or less. They're booths which looked like they could seat 4 comfortably. I got mine to go and just ate in my car in the parking lot. There were people sitting down waiting on their food but since my order was just sushi, they were able to get me in and out in under ten minutes. All in all, not bad. Katsu sauce also sweet, how I like it. Came out to $39 before tip. Will be back to try the sushi side of restaurant. Pay at the counter. Seating inside old leather booths with local radio station playing, just how I like it. Old. Portions won't be falling off your plate but still worth it. Maybe could give more rice but that's ok. First time trying and for a local owned restaurant I hope they can improve on the portion for their entrées. Taste wise I really loved the spicy pork. You get that char taste that makes it so enjoyable as a bbq plate. But like I said portion wise I feel like it could of been better. There wasn't that much pieces of meat as what I thought there should of been; because if you're paying a $11-$15 regular plates at least make the portions worth it. The sides were about right for portions and the taste was just as good as any korean bbq. I would come back if I'm in the area. I would like to try the other foods on the menu. He has lived in the area for several months and just never really played much attention to what was there, but it kept catching my eye. So I made him promise to stop in at some point before I left. And we are both super glad I did! We picked Ohana from the bunch because it seemed to have the widest variety of what was offered and I wanted a little bit of everything! We got multiple sushi rolls to include a korean roll, some gyoza, a few different side dishes, and spicy BBQ chicken (check out the pics) ... so a full feast! For about $30 the two of us (and he can eat for 2 app by himself) had more than enough to fill up for lunch, with leftovers for dinner as well! And it was ALL delicious. The mandoo was a last minute addition and only because I saw a sign that said it was homemade. It definitely tasted homemade and I kept wanting more and will definitely order this again. OBS has a little bit of everything: sushi & Korean barbeque of course, breakfasts, plate lunches, and the $6.99 bentos that drew me in! Over these visits, I had to try one of their dishes so I got their meat jun & mandoo combination plate! Good taste, plentiful quantities (it was heavy and enough for 2 or 3 meals), and a Korean plate under $15! Ono kine grinds indeed! OBS is now part of my regular rotation for my twice weekly dinner runs for Dad & step-mom. WSC is so convenient to get too, less than 20 minutes from Fort Shafter after work. The owners and their son were so accommodating and served up an amazing kimchi fried rice omitting the beef and egg! They also made me a vegetable sushi roll with delicious pickled veggies, avocado, and sriracha.
