Summer being back means I'm gonna spend a lot of time at Taffy's. Since we moved closer, it'll be less of a special trip and more of a regular thing this summer. Everyone knows Taffy's for their ice cream and milkshakes (which we didn't get pictures of) but their food is so good and gives that perfect summer vibe. When we pulled up, there were a few people ahead of us in line but the staff here made quick work of the line and we ordered in no time. Friendly service for our burgers and fries. They were done quickly too. Everything tasted great. The burgers were cooked perfectly and the curly fries were incredible. The tables that are on the rocking chair base are so nice to lounge in. Also important to remember that they are cash only here. This is one of my favorite places to go in the summer and we're planning on being here a lot. read more

Positive - The milkshake flavors are absolutely endless. You could come here all summer and never try the same thing twice. The atmosphere is also super charming with cute outdoor seating and rocker benches that give it a great nostalgic feel. Negative - The lines are typically long, and because it's situated right on a super busy road, it's not exactly a quiet, peaceful escape. But the biggest downside? It is strictly cash only. I learned this the hard way when I rolled up with a $20 bill and couldn't get a hot dog, a milkshake, and an onion ring because I was exactly one dollar short. My little family loves taffy's, it is cash only which could be a pain for anyone who doesn't carry cash. The food I've gotten has always been good but over priced. The milkshakes are gigantic and absolutely perfect, you just may have an issue with their array of flavors! The seating area is nice with many rocking tables to sit and chat while you eat. read more

There's now a large outside seating area. Their menu has expanded a lot over the years too. But today I went for the classic foot-long hotdog and curly fries with a chocolate malt shake. Wether you are in for a milk shake, a burger or a hot dog, Taffy's is the place to go. The list of milk shakes is almost endless and the food menu has plenty of options and a lot of toppings. The seating is only outside in somewhat uncomfortable gliders; 2 wooden benches on a track, table in the middle and a roof. Not easy to get in or out and the wooden seats need padding. Be prepared: the only take cash!!!! The seating is on the corner of Southwestern and Orchard Park Road and the traffic is close by and loud. The day we visited it was also very windy; not easy with paper plates. The food is excellent though! I had a nice and sloppy hamburger that I topped with the free toppings: ketchup, jalapeños and caramelized onions. Just great, even though the don't ask you how you want your burger. This place is just okay it's more fun looking than it really is overall and the food is just okay. Prices for ice-cream the 10,000 or so they have are just absurd and it doesn't make me want to go back. Unfortunately despite having so many flavors I don't know how many are real. I got a blueberry milkshake and it was absolutely a flavor shot of some kind on vanilla soft serve because the flavor was super light and not fully mixed in. This place seems to be living off reputation for sure. I'll keep saying it not taking cards is a near guarantee I won't be back. I'm lucky I had some cash on me because I'd of left and not come back. I went for just a milkshake while visiting a friend in the Buffalo area, and ended up getting the fresh cut curly fries also and neither disappointed. The menu options are creative and had plenty of options for everyone. Generally I find large menus to be overwhelming but I didn't find that to be the case here because there was the option for "create your own". How surprising to go to a restaurant that is "cash only". One sees this sign as one walks in from the parking lot. After finding the way to Taffy's parking lot, we picked one of the rustic gliders to wait for our friends. It gave us time to read the huge milkshake menu as well as the burger, hot dog and chicken choices. There are also some veggie choices. I picked a 1/4 lb. burger with raw onions, lettuce, tomato and ketchup. My husband and I shared the (huge) regular order if curly fries. The burger was perfectly cooked. Sloppy to eat as I also tried to hold onto the paper plate the burger was on. It was the same problem with the paper plate holding the fries, while trying to squeeze out some ketchup from one of the foil packets. The wind was quite strong. There are no indoor seats; Taffy's is on a major intersection which might have had an impact on the wind factor. The food is good and reasonably priced, but Taffy's is not a place to go on a windy or rainy day. It is a fun place and while I did not order a milkshake, it was fun to see all of the choices/ flavor combinations. Taffy's is famous for their shake choices. read more

Taffys - A southtowns staple! Their milkshakes are amazing. Over 100 flavors, and you can customize them as you wish. I usually get the strawberry cheesecake or the cinnamon bun milkshake. Both of them are my favorite because once you are done with the shake, there are always chunks of cheesecake/dough on the bottom that you get to eat. Sooo good! The milkshakes are reasonably priced for the sizes that are available. The food however, is so expensive for the quality! You get just a regular standard frozen hot dog or hamburger, and you have to pay for the sides, like French fries or curly fries, separately. I would only suggest going here for the milkshakes. The seating is amazing. They have these nice wooden benches that rock back and forth. A very comfortable, unique experience compared to other hot dog stands. Also, it's important to note that they ONLY ACCEPT CASH. Be prepared before coming here! Especially since you don't pay for the food when you order, you pay after it's cooked and handed to you. I've watched someone's food get tossed away after it was cooked because the guy only had a debit card. (P.S. They ARE dog friendly!) read more

This is just for the ice cream - not the food. Will need to come back for the food. Driving home from the fair...I guess I didn't eat enough but wanted a ice cream. Drove past Taffy's realized they were open for 45 minutes. Probably took us 15 minutes to peruse the vast list of milkshakes. We chose the Banana Fudge and Banana Fosters. Maybe needed the banana to avoid cramps from walking the fair all day. Both milkshakes were so good, thick but not too thick so you could drink it until you got to the end. Then we used our straws to eat the rest. Yum! Everything tasted so good and would love to try there hot dogs/burgers and fries. Another trip to have some fun on the sliding seats. As soon as the sun comes out and the snow melts, I always know I have to plan a trip to Taffy's. Things you should know about this restaurant before you go 1. They only accept cash 2. Most of the seating is outside on glider chairs (see picture) 3. They have over 100 different milkshake flavors 4. Most of the food served is hotdogs, hamburgers and fried food so probably skip this if you are on a low calorie diet and lastly 5. The nicer the weather is , the longer the wait so try to be patient if it's warm and sunny! I got a turkey burger with lettuce, mayo and pepper jack cheese and a peanut butter/ vanilla milkshake. They did goof up and put pickles instead of pepper jack cheese on my burger but were prompt to fix my order. And that shake was delicious, to be honest you really can't go wrong with any of those flavors. I have seen Taffy's in countless articles about the best milkshakes in Buffalo, the best summer spots in WNY, best local joints for cheap eats, etc. and i have wanted to come here for so long! A few weeks ago we finally made it and it was well worth the long time it took to finally make the trip. Taffy's is very clearly an institution in the area, seated on a busy intersection there never seems to be a shortage of people making the turn inside for a tasty meal. I am glad that we went later in the season (the generally open in the spring and close up in mid-late fall), when it was a bit cooler outside, as all the seating is outdoors on these cute little gliders. They have an INSANE number of milkshake offerings. Over 100 options!! They call them Moo's. I opted for a "chocolate moo", called Berry Berry Dangerous- raspberry, strawberry, chocolate. This was possibly the best milkshake I've ever had. The flavors combines perfectly, delicious quality ice cream, nice and smooth. I also got a footling hot dog and a family order of curly fries. You don't mess with me and fries, and I saw other people walk away with some and had to do it. You order up at the counter, sit down in the glider of your choice, and go up to collect your foods and pay your bill when they call your name over the loudspeaker. THEY ARE CASH ONLY!!! No cards accepted!!! The food was delicious and I'm not afraid to say it- I ate the whole fry by myself they were that good. Great spot to go with the family. Burgers, fingers, hot dogs, curly fries, and milkshakes. You sit in glider chairs and eat which is fun because its different. There are like 100 flavors of milkshakes! On this day, there were 3 of us. We ordered a burger, fingers, and veggie burger and an order of curly fries to split. Add 2 drinks and a milkshake and it was almost $45 for lunch. Curly fries were very good, everything else was just good. If it was cheaper. I would come here more often. I found it a bit pricey. Worth the trip to OP!! I just happened to be in the area for a doctors appointment and knew exactly where to go for lunch. This place has awesome & quick service so we didn't have to wait long at all. I can honestly say that everything on the menu is amazing-- we got a burger and pizza logs but the homemade curly fries are the best!! I love that this place is DOG friendly because it makes it easier for us to go places all together. *Sams Suggestion- try one of their whacky flavored milkshakes, the combinations are to die for and the homemade shakes are best around! This is the place to be on a nice day in the summer time. Sometimes it can get quite busy. I've been here many times while growing up. I hadn't been here in a couple years so I met up with my sister and parents for a bite to eat, in between jobs. This restaurant is right on Southwestern at the busy five corners intersection. It wasn't too hot out and the sky was overcast and a bit breezy. I think that's why it wasn't too busy there and I could walk right up and order. The seating is mostly outside. They have fun glider porch swings, which have covered awnings. A few standard tables don't move. My parents and sister had already ordered and were waiting at their table for their name to be called up so they could get their food. (You pay when your food is finished cooking, after your name is called.) One of the employees said she'd be right with me and wasn't. When the other employee noticed that I was still waiting for someone to take my order, she was apologetic and quickly took my order. They have hundreds of milkshake flavors to choose from. Today I ordered the koala milkshake. I hadn't tried it before. The koala is coffee and baileys. It was really good!!! They have many different fried food options. I usually get a hot dog, a burger, or deep fried mushrooms. Today I ordered the pizza logs, which came with fries. It was four pizza logs , which came with a small side of hand cut fries for $9.99. The shake was $5.55. I enjoyed my time with family. I only gave this establishment four stars because their pricy and mainly because they still only accept cash. It's disappointing. This place is great. A perfect place to stop on a sunny Saturday afternoon for lunch. The service is pretty quick and the food is just great American style food. I usually order a Not Dog, which is a meatless hot dog that is not the best, some nice curly fries, and the hundreds, and I mean hundreds of different milkshake flavors. Every possible flavor of ice cream that there is has a milkshake blended into perfection. The flavor I highly recommend is chocolate chip cookie dough. It has the perfect amount of dough and a good amount of chocolate chips. The ice cream is also flavored cookie dough so it is overall a great place. I don't eat it very often because it is unhealthy, but it's a great once in a while treat! read more

They boast about 100 interesting flavors. I had cookies and creme because I'm basic as heck and my friend had salted caramel. I thought it was good, but nothing like Lake Effect diner's milkshakes. I wish the cookies were blended rather than chunky. Still, a milkshake is a milkshake. I also had a hot dog and curly fries to get the full Taffy's experience. The hot dog was obviously Sahlens and charbroiled to perfection. I dare say the fries were hand cut. They taste great in the milkshake! Don't knock until you try it. Needed extra salt, but very delicious. I also enjoyed the dive atmosphere...oldies on the radio, swinging tables, and a cozy little shack that houses the kitchen. Two shakes, fries, and a dog came to 18 bucks...little more expensive that I would have thought, but not bad. Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque. Yayayayayayayayayayayayaya. Toure? There is nothing "laffy" about this "Taffys", in fact the employees here are stoney-faced and serious. You would think that they were earning minimum wage or something. (Crowd remains silent). I couldn't remember the name of this place, but I did remember that the only time I went here and tried a hot dog, it was not particularly good. It wasn't awful either, but compared to some of the great ones in the area, it scores 0. I also had a milkshake here and (I'm sorry) it was not good. I think I got banana, and it's one of those syrupy bright chemically yellow banana shakes instead of a fresh vanilla-with-banana-chunks style that I love. And I think I had a pulled pork sandwich from here though I could be very wrong. I can't even remember if I'm reviewing the right place, or if the place I am reviewing is even still open, which, in the end, really reflects badly on me and makes me look like a terrible, terrible person. First off, yes its a very popular place, but a popular place does not make it a good place. I ordered a milk shake, pop, some fries, and a hot dog. it came out to $15. The milkshake menu -- which lists some of the best swirled up shakes around -- is so deep that you could get a milkshake here everyday and not get the same one twice for over 100 days. And that's just what's on the menu. Some more math: if you had a different shake from the menu once a year, it would take you over 100 years to get through the menu; the same age as the owner. Maybe she's on to something... It's cash only. I know that's a bummer, but lucky for you currency of any kind is completely worthless if you don't have ice cream and red hots stuffed in you gully to the point you can't breath any more. read more

I've been to this place at least a dozen or more times. Its only a 20 minute walk from my House, you just gotta cross the 5 Corners. so Many things to Get, from a Turkey Burger to Footlong Hot Dogs to Clam Rolls to hand cut French Fries to even my favorite: Italian Sausage Roll with Chili, Cheese and Hickory Smoked Bacon. But what I like most about Taffy's is the variety of milkshakes they have (130 different flavors) 3 of my Favorites are: 1. Blueberry, 2. Root Beer and 3. I would not go here servers were rude and unprofessional. I was outside 8 feet from the counter and the employee in the place started shouting and being rude,,, I was social distancing outside I was not even in the building. They would not serve me.
