The indoor/outdoor seating is nice, they have a playground out back for the kids and also offer free ice pops for kids which is a great way to get the kids to eat! The hot dogs and hamburgers were good, we ordered a chicken finger wrap was edible but not something I would order again, the order of fry's was the largest order I've ever seen! This place is fun and definitely seems like a good summer tradition buts it's way way way too expensive for the food. The food is absolutely fine and that's all I can say. It shouldn't cost a family over a hundred dollars to go to a burger place. We won't be coming back. Again like it for the ambience and that summer feel but the prices are out of control. A twelve dollar burger needs to be fresh thick cut beef like a restaurant not something comparable to Wendy's. Get your prices under control it you'll lose more customers too. George's is a staple of summertime in the south towns! Have loved their curly q fries since I was a little kid. I enjoyed a vegetarian item which I appreciate they have a whole list of vegetarian items. They have a nice condiment bar. My companion had a large veggie burger. Adorable place with a surprisingly large and varied menu - including a whole vegetarian menu! (Although I desperately wish they had a veggie dog offering). There is ample indoor seating (with a 70's vibe) and loads of picnic tables outside (both open air and under a huge awning.) It's cafeteria style. Very nice service too. I had a Greek salad (they have a whole Greek menu as well as a Mexican one) and a coffee milkshake and hubs had a hotdog with Texas sauce. I always find myself at George's Hotdogs in Hamburg at some point during the Summer. It is a park-like atmosphere eating here, surrounded by lots of beautiful trees. I always enjoy their Big George hamburger and their delicious French fries. There were four of us so I found myself wondering how many fries are enough ... so I did what I always do and over ordered ... the large curly would have been enough for us but I added a small straight fries to the order just in case. Service was friendly and very helpful. George's now provides free filtered water where the condiments are located. However, we had a late lunch and both water containers were almost empty ... but the staff saw our dilemma and filled our water glasses from behind the counter... very much appreciated. I also noticed that you now have to ask for pickles... they used to be out with the condiments and you could fill up your order with how ever many pickles you desired. So if you want to put pickles or pickle relish on your dog or burger you will have to ask. I definitely recommend picking a nice day and enjoying a nice lunch at George's this summer. read more

My friend had wanted to stop here while we were out geocaching in the area. Pulling up, George's has a good amount of parking divided over two lots. One directly on the corner on the other side of the picnic table area and the larger lot right next to the restaurant. Having not come here before, I'm not sure what it was like previously. The door near the lot is the entrance and you form a line to place your order at the counter. My friend ordered the Bacon George, I ordered a regular cheeseburger and we split a small fry. It appears the standard offering is mayo, with ketchup and mustard at the condiment bar. The lettuce, tomato and (red) onion area to be all Ala Carte. I personally would have held off had I know it was shredded iceberg lettuce and thin sliced red onion. I would have preferred a whole lettuce leaf or two and thick slices white onions. Outside of that, the burgers were decent. A good size and expected flavor, for me the preference I have is more charcoal grilled. But growing up on Ted's that can be expected I guess. They offer a menu of traditional American food - hot dogs, burgers, French fries - as well as small Mexican and Greek menus for a decent variety for a food stand. Walk into the building, order at one end of the counter, and then pick up at the other end of the counter, directly in front of the grill. So you know it's freshly cooked! They usually offer a substantial condiment bar, but due to Covid, most were kept in the kitchen and had to be ordered with the food... which was a bit tricky since it wasn't clear which was an extra charge and which was free of charge. We ended up with an extra 75 cent charge for... something... that we asked on top. The hot dogs and burgers are perhaps a little pricey for what you get. Especially if you don't add on the condiments. But when you order the fries? It more than makes it a meal! Look at the size of that mountain of curlies! If you're in Boston, Orchard Park, Hamburg, or West Falls... you have to try George's at least once. You can even stop at Nick Charlap's for dessert! Stopped here for lunch and was very happy! The parking lot cab gets full once the lunch or dinner crowd hits, but there is a fair amount of parking. It's not a fancy place or a fancy dining room but great food. I had the fish sandwich, onion rings, and hamburger. It was all very good. Burger was juicy, roll was Constanzo's, and the lettuce and tomato were fresh and crisp. The fish sandwich was cooked perfectly, and onion rings were very crispy. Prices were a bit higher, but it was worth it to support a small business and get some very tasty food. Workers were attentive and friendly. You order from the left side of the counter and then move down to the right side of the counter for your order pick up. They have all the toppings and fixings for the burgers, French fries, and other food items. They have wraps that are very good also. (Don't think so) so one male employee took our order. Wearing blue gloves. Took our money and gave us change, with the same gloves. Stepped in the back for about three minutes. Came out and picked up the garbage (with the same blue gloves? I think so.) Went back in - no other customers - finally another customer. Same routine. Finally curly fries were served. While job training in Hamburg, I was told over and over by fellow employee after employee that I had to go to George's. Just a couple minutes from the job, they said it was a summer staple, and I had to try a burger and some of their curly q fries. I didn't end up going until the last day I was there, mostly cause I was warned they were cash only and don't usually carry any cash with me. George's is definitely popular. There was a long line waiting to go up to the ordering station, and the parking lot was near full next to the little unassuming building that you'd probably pass right by on the corner if you weren't looking for it. I was told over and over about the burgers and curly fries, so that's what I went with, along with a drink. Definitely takes a bit of time to get your food, as everything is cooked to order, but getting fresh food is always nice. I chose to take mine outside and eat at one of the picnic tables since it was a nice day. And everything was alright, but I was not blown away as I thought I would be. Perhaps it was the hype from everyone, but I found everything to just be ok. I had imagined in my head that perhaps the burger patties were fresh made by hand, but that didn't seem to be the case. The burger was called the Big George, but I found it to be quite small, and also underseasoned. The fries were pretty good though, fresh cut and crispy. I enjoyed a turkey burger made with lettuce, mayo and pepper jack cheese and a cookies and cream milk shake. All food was of high quality and delicious. All orders are taken at the counter and a receipt is printed out, attached to a rip cord and slung over to the grill portion of the restaurant (how cool is that?) Choose to eat inside or on one of the several picnic tables outside. Wanna burn off some of that grub? Go for a walk at nearby Chestnut Ridge. I got the chicken sandwich, and the chicken was marinated and seasoned so well. I also got the fried mushrooms with ranch, and they were crispy and the breading stayed on. My boyfriend got the footlong hotdog with all the toppings and a strawberry milkshake. SO GOOD. Many people probably won't agree with my ranking, but i have been going here since i was a little girl. I remember playing on the slide while waiting for our food and once it came i ate it up so i could get my free freezie. At that time it meant the world to me and the tradition carried on through my son's. Now its our 2-3 times a year stand in line, get a charred foot long and fries (varies each time we go- curly, straight cut or sweet). Of course you put your own fixins on your dog's. If you're looking for a family friendly family owned place to get a bite to eat at George's is the place to go! The staff has always been so nice and friendly. It's a very clean environment as well. For the kids they have a little playground as well as a cute idea they made that if your child eats all of their food they get a free freeze! The homemade dill pickle chips are so good as well as the whole menu and definitely try one of the classic milkshakes! It's always a joy when they open for the season! read more

The prices have gone up dramatically. So sorry to see. How does 7.25 sound for a foot long hot dog with .80 additional for any topping!! (4.99 at Taffys with any toppings you want) The specialty Big George 1/4 pounder for 8.00 with one topping and again .80 EACH for anything like lettuce, tomato, pickles yes even MAYO. Pretty much everything is an extra charge. The burger did not even reach the ends of the bread. So you could reach and top 12.00 before you know it for a burger!! Then what about an 8.00 milk shake in maybe a 6 inch tall cup. The owner Nancy blames rising costs. I was at Walmart and looked at some prices and these are not even bulk prices a business can get. 1.54 for (8) hot dogs and 1.42 for (8) buns. Last I looked you can even get condiments including ketchup, mayo and pickles etc. at the Dollar Store. There was woman in front of us with two small children who ordered some juice boxes, fries and hot dogs and the bill came to just over 40.00. She said, "If the kids weren't cranky I would leave I can't do this anymore at these prices". Sorry to say George's has been a summertime favorite for the last time for us. Every spring, I eagerly await the re-opening of George's. Their cheeseburgers are SO good, and I don't know if they make the pickles themselves but they are the absolute best. We also enjoy the Buffalo chicken wrap, sweet potato fries, onion rings, and regular fries. The staff is always so nice, even when they're extremely busy. We like to use the order ahead/pick up curbside option, but we sometimes dine in or outside as well. They have a fantastic playground for kids to play (but when we're eating outside I do worry about kids running off to the un-fenced street, where drivers tend to speed by). read more

Anyway after we made our order my father and I sat down at a table as my husband was with the tray in line the girl that took our order today gave me the dirtiest look I've ever gotten it was terrible so its stuck in my head all day she looked at me as if I was covered in filth and had a constant stuck up look like she was holding back laughing her ass off. Great locally owned hot dog stand. It is cash only and they do not have an ATM so be warned. But it's the perfect place for a bite to eat after spending some time at Chestnut Ridge Park. I've been here numerous times and have never had a bad experience. You order your food at the register and they fling it down this line to the cooks and then you just take your tray and move down the counter. Along the way your drinks our placed on your tray and at the end your food is ready. The fries are soooo good, fresh cut, as well as the sweet potato fries. Oh and get a milkshake while your there. You won't regret it. In the warm months they have an outdoor playground, this makes this place a perfect place to bring kids. Also, if the kids finish all of their meal, play nice and if it's ok with their parents, they can ask for a freezie pop. I love coming to George's. read more

I really can't imagine a review for a place like this carries any weight whatsoever, as if you're a local, you are going to go anyway. If you live in the city or North Towns, you're probably not going to make the trip unless you are board or just finished a hike at Eternal Flame. We decided to take advantage of the rain on an otherwise gorgeous Sunday afternoon to check out George's based on a friend raving about the fresh-cut fries. A 30-minute trip down the 90 and 219 brought us to this lovely little piece of real estate, with a big playground for the kids and ample covered picnic tables. I took my friends advice and order the "Big George", which is a 1/4lb burger with all the fixins. We also split an order of straight fries and curly fries, both fresh-cut in-house. Two burgers, two small fries, and a water cost us $17. We skipped the milkshakes since you always feel like crap after having a milkshake and sitting in the car, anyway. The burgers were fine, and the fries were OK, too. Honestly, it's like a 5 Guys but in the woods, though 5 Guys is tastier -- and certainly saltier. The fries are nothing special, and I wonder what kind of oil they are using. At least they're not that frozen plop that most places are serving. All-in-all, it was a pleasant experience and we'll keep George's in mind when the kids are big enough to need a playground and some simple, summertime food. If I really wanted to get my burger fix, 5 Guys or Ted's would be a better choice, but I really can't knock this little escape out in the woods. We have been to George's many times over the years. It is the place to go from late Spring until the Middle of October, or they run out of food. Pricier then most hot dog stands, but it is well worth the extra cost. The ambiance of outside or inside seating is the best. No matter what you order on the menu, it comes out hot, and made to your preference. If you are looking for a place to take kids, there is a great outside play area, with your adult supervision. If the kids eat all their meal, they even get a treat of a freeze pop! If you are ever in the area, be sure to stop. You won't be disappointed. read more

When you walk into the building, there is a long counter with a large menu above the counter and to the side. They'll take your order at the cash register, write it down on a piece of paper, and zip the paper down on a wire to the cooks at the other end of the counter. George's has good fries, onion rings, hamburgers, etc. What surprised me is that they also have good vegetarian food. It's certainly a hamburger joint and there is plenty of greasy food, but almost anyone can find something to eat here. Definitely try the milkshakes. If you're going to try normal meal times on the weekend in the middle of the summer, you'll have a bit of a wait and may have some trouble with seating. Fun, low key, popular place. read more

Just a short jog off the interstate, this was the perfect place to break up our long day of driving from Toronto to Lancaster, PA. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. My wife and I were quite impressed that the fries delicious without being greasy. And we loved the two play sets outside that let our toddler burn some energy before being strapped back into her car seat. Here's something else you don't see every day: a superb level of cleanliness! While we ate outside, we saw a worker come rake the mulch on both play areas, filling in the low spots under the ends of the slides, and he even swept the mulch off all the surfaces where it didn't belong. This reinforced the good impression I had initially formed when I saw how clean the bathroom was--also something that's nice when taking your toddler potty so her hands and feet aren't covered in you know what. I can't think of too many things more wonderful than sitting outside among golden and scarlet trees on a beautiful autumn day while enjoying a meal at this delightful place! Four of us had lunch here today and enjoyed the food as much as the lovely setting. The menu has hot dogs and burgers and tacos and chicken fingers and salads and fries (straight as well as curly) and onion rings and delicious real milk shakes. The prices are great and everything is cooked to order. The only negative thing for me is that the burgers and dogs are not cooked over charcoal, but rather on a griddle, so they don't have that wonderful smokey flavor. Three of us had burgers with various topping, one had a vegetarian taco, and we had curly fries, straight fries, and onion rings, as well as four diffferent flavors of milk shakes.... and everyone was happy with their choices. The burgers were just the right size and served on fresh, delicious rolls. There's a toppings bar with onions, pickles, ketchup, mustard, hot sauce, and relish. Both kinds of fries are the yummy skin-on variety. The (HUGE) milk shakes may have been the best part of the meal. I totally loved my mocha one! The coffee and chocolate flavors were perfectly balanced... and it was thick, but not so thick that I felt I was going to have an aneurism trying to sip it through the straw.
