a plate of salad

I stopped by the Lindner cafe in the beautiful Taft museum. The setting was airy and elegant, with plenty of comfortable seating. The menu is small and served from a tiny kitchen so your choices will be limited. I tried a bowl of the soup of the day - lentil miso and it was tasty. The lentils were cooked perfectly, but some bread would've been appreciated. I had a basic salad and it was also okay, though it didn't need the raw onions and some of lettuce pieces were mushy. Service was quite slow. It took ages to get plates cleared and I never got a drink or water refill.

I enjoyed a delightful worktime lunch with a friend at the Lindner Family Cafe at Taft Museum on Wednesday. I made reservations online through Yelp and were seated right away. They have a beautiful outdoor patio to dine outside, but it was too hot to enjoy a lunch outside, so were seated by window inside. We were handed menus and given a few minutes to review, water with lemon was brought to the table. I decided on the Summer Vegetable Galette with a side salad and my friend ordered Croque Monsieur ham & cheese sandwich. Our food arrived pretty quickly and was served warm. My vegetable tart looked & after my first bite was delicious. My friend's sandwich was a bit runny on the cheese - we expected it to be baked, but literally cheese oozed from all over the sandwich. The side greens salad was delicious, fresh greens and vegetables with balsamic vinaigrette. Our waiter informed us of dessert selections he mentioned cheesecake and something else, I asked if they had anything chocolate. He hesitated at first, but then remembered they had a chocolate devils food cake with raspberries & cream - we were sold, we shared & devoured the cake. It was the perfect dessert to finish off our lunch. The cafe is a wonderful break from the hectic pace of downtown and the nearby interstate. Stop by the Taft Museum and enjoy a wonderful lunch in historic and art filled setting.

Attached to a an interesting art museum. The staff was very friendly and the security guards knew a ton about the history of the building. The food came really fast, and the tofu curry sandwich was fantastic.

Spinach Frittata & Salad

I really enjoyed the break from touring the Taft Museum to eat at the cafe. The staff and food were beyond my expectation and I would definitely come back again!

We were really looking forward to trying Baker's Table after everything we've heard. We had the 5…read morecourse Tasting Menu for $90. per person. we have had many tasting menus before and left feeling very disappointed with our experience. The portions for even a tasting menu were extremely small. My entee (salmon) came out not hot. Our server was not attentive (never once refilled our water glasses or asked if we enjoyed any of our dishes). Overall we were left with the question of: what is all the fuss about with this restaurant? We will not be back.

My husband brought me to Baker's Table for my birthday dinner. I first became aware of this place…read morewhen I started getting ads for the chef's sourdough book on social media--got the book for Christmas, and apparently talked about that enough that he decided I needed to experience the restaurant! What's striking about the restaurant itself is how quiet and calm it feels. With limited nightly seatings and every dinner table doing the tasting menu there's a sort of orchestrated flow that permeates the space. Not to say energy is low or it's so quiet you feel self-conscious talking; it's just that nothing about the experience feels rushed or accidental. As expected, the bread course was phenomenal as was all the food we enjoyed! We opted for the wine pairing along with dinner, which results in about 1.5 or 2 full glasses over the course of the meal. The sommelier did an excellent job introducing and explaining each wine, as well as why it was selected to pair with each course. All told, a lovely experience and one worth repeating--and not just because the menu changes every season.

The space is open, bright and well decorated making it very inviting for brunch. You order at the counter from the menus placed along the wall then food is delivered to your table. The various brunch items all sounded very inviting so I was having trouble deciding what to order. So I got a recommendation to try the Shakshuka. Not sure how to pronounce it but when it arrived it was just the right portion and quite tasty for brunch. It's a bowl with a red pepper sauce and feta cheese and kale along with eggs sunny side up. The dish is served with pita so you can do a little bit of dipping in the tasty sauce. To accompany our food we selected the mimosa service and bloody mary pitcher. A pitcher is just perfect for sharing. And the mimosa service was delightful. The server arrived with a bottle of Prosecco and small carafes of orange, grapefruit and blood orange juices to mix yourself. The food was fresh and tasty with prompt delivery of our food to our table. Not quite a full service restaurant since you have to order at the counter but still a nice experience located downtown.
