My husband and I recently did a staycation for a night at The Stanton House. (Amazing) we made a reservation for Taft Diaz for dinner. It is a very small area of the first floor. Quaint little area next to a quaint hotel bar. Very intimate and cozy. We were greeted by Francisco our waiter who was great. He was very efficient and attentive. Immediately we were brought bread for the table. I was starving but this bread was amazing. Don't skip the bread you Keto people. You will miss out. The menu is small but very diverse and unique entrees. We ordered the Meatballs for the appetizer. It came with 4 large Meath balls with large 1/4 pieces of roasted tomatoes in an amazing Italian sauce and a "Brûlée Burrata". I had known idea what it was but it ended up being an amazing mozzarella type of cheese and best of all served with more bread! The dish was so good. Main course, so of course my husband had to order the rib eye ( because why change it up) he is a rib eye connoisseur and has had every rib eye in El Paso. (Well almost) this was hand down the BEST! It was so tender it literally melted in your mouth. It was served with 2 dipping sauces that too were out of this world, a charred avocado, grilled onions, and a side of very tasty mashed potatoes. Amazing! Definitely worth the $75 price. I ordered the seared scallops with carbonara sauce, hatch green chile on little beds of risotto. I was very impressed. I would order this dish again. However I was a bit jealous of my husband rib eye. I would most definitely recommend this restaurant worth the price, the service was on point and the experience was very enjoyable. One my favorite places for dining now! This after having brunch there about a week ago. I would rank this in the top 10% of my personal dining experiences. Maybe because the interior design combined with the Bad A$$ "art" set the stage for an engaging conversation over our meal. When was the last time you looked at hotel art? You'll want to spend time looking at this art! I'd been there before for company events and happy hour for a quick drink. But I'd never been there during the day. The amount of light that shines on the that dining area is amazing. The food is inventive and well executed making it supremely enjoyable. Great Saturday night dinner spot! The service is excellent, makes you feel welcome and taken care of. To start, we tried a couple of drinks. First, the "Luminous Twist" (Rye Whisky, Candied Cherry, Lemon Juice, Green Chartreus). Followed by the "Honey Manhattan"(Rye Whisky, Averna, Orange Juice, Honey). These drinks are AMAZING and are creations from their Team. So good! We then ordered the Mexican Butter (Tuétanos) to start, chef-finished at the table... so good! First, for a hotel lobby restaurant this place is beyond expectations. He parachute lighting that drop down the center of the hotel on a regular schedule are mesmerizing. The bar, dinning room, and kitchen are laid out to make them both individual areas and flow cohesively. The cocktails and mocktails have always been on point and it seems the bartenders are continually working on new and different off-menu drinks. Wine list is modest compared to other fine dining restaurants, but is sufficient to pair with their menu and within a comfortable price point. The food here has always been amazing: in taste, presentation, and portions. Scallops were perfectly cooked (browned on each side), and paired well with a local twist on risotto (green chile). The pasta made from scratch was wonderful. The staff from curb arrival to departure were outstanding. Professional attire, well spoken, polite, knowledgeable, and attentive. Unbelievable! My wife and I wanted to order two ribeyes and the price per ribeye is $65. Neither of us eat potatoes and I hate onions. I wanted to switch out potatoes for rice. The kitchen wouldn't do it. I talked to the manager of the hotel and he said there was nothing he could do. Can you believe it? They would walk from $130 of food and $110 bottle of wine because they wouldn't switch potatoes for rice, which they serve with other offerings. There is nothing cheaper on planet earth than the rice. I try to support local businesses in El Paso, but they are to arrogant to be flexible to please a customer. I will give them another chance in 6 months after they have turned over the cook and the manager for not building their business. read more

Restaurant is located inside Stanton Hotel with large black frame clear doors. Valet is located right out front of those doors. Lunch Valet is $12. I paid $8 instead for parking on a lot on the corner of N. Stanton & E. Mills. (Winner!) Walked in and Blush Boutique & Spa was located on the right (on my To Do List). We stood at the Host podium and were greeted by the bartender less than a minute. She sat us down at a booth. Service was a little slow but understood since he looked like the only server working on the floor. My S.O. wasn't pleased with the service overall but I do want to add that when he was setting another table, he was very focused to make sure everything was in its place. Restaurant was clean and showcased an open-kitchen where you saw Chefs with their bold purple gloves. They were plating dishes under heat lamps ready to be delivered. At the table, ordered a pricey trio of meatballs ($21), Taft Burger ($12), Short Rib Flautas ($15). All were good. Flautas and burger were great portions however, those three meatballs were a little to pricey for a bowl. Then again the brûlée burrata was delicious... It's a bit hard to find this amazing restaurant since it's inside of a hotel at the heart of downtown El Paso. But let me tell you BEST BREAKFAST IN TOWN!! I ordered the chilaquiles accompanied with soft scrambled eggs, honestly I was enjoying every bite plus the presentation is beautiful and very colorful and the eggs omg the best I've had!. So the restaurant is located in The Stanton Hotel which is very upscale and geared towards high end clientele. After walking through the hotels main entrance you feel like you've stepped into another city and out of El Paso. The bar area is really nice with plenty of seating, it would be a great spot to meet up for happy hour especially if it's a date! The menu are somewhat typically to the area but the food has a "farm to table" type vibe which totally could have been unique to the vegetarian meal I ordered. It tasted very fresh & earthy. The presentation deserves 6stars and you can Totally tell by the million&1 pictures I took Cuddos to the Chef, the meal was a work of art! They have an above average wine selection for downtown restaurants in El Paso in my opinion + plus all of the mixed drinks are made from scratch. My Manhattan awesome. I came back the next morning ( I stayed across the street in the Aloft Hotel) for breakfast and order the egg & avocado tacos with a side of bacon & toast and boy was it delicious!!! The wait staff was very friendly on both occasions. The entire bar & restaurant area are essential spotless and very easy on the eyes. I would have given this place 5-stars but I only do that after eating at a restaurant multiple times. Loved everything about this place and I would highly recommend giving them a try. read more

I do not understand how this is the top rated restaurant in El Paso. It is located in the lobby of a hotel two blocks away from the park that is in the middle of El Paso. The ambiance is fine but the food was pretty average. My husband had huevos divorciados and the portion was Tiny. They have a very abbreviated menu at brunch time on Saturdays and Sundays so that was quite disappointing. I got a breakfast Burger and it was pretty good but nothing special. I had to give my husband all my French fries because he didn't have enough to eat. It also took about 40 minutes for us to get our food despite the fact that there was only one other table occupied when we came in. The waitress was friendly and so was the doorman but these things do not justify a top ranking. read more

Taft Diaz is definitely a go-to fine dining restaurant in downtown El Paso. It is located INSIDE the Stanton House hotel and so it is a little difficult to find at first, but once you get there, it is definitely worth it. The menu is quite short, but the quality of food does not suffer from it. Everything is prepared fresh - down to the homemade tortillas that are prepared in house. We were here for breakfast and had the Huevos Motuleños, which were incredible. We also had mimosas, which were a bit expensive, but I digress The restaurant is a little small, with only a few tables, but we came pretty early and so we did not have to wait. The atmosphere and decor are really quite beautiful and the service is superb, 10/10. read more

This is more of a review of the bar but it's worth leaving feedback. The bartender recommended the Crimson Blossom and it was wonderful! Not too sweet or strong but with a nice tart taste. The Seven layer chocolate cake was amazing but the portion was sadly too small and left me wanting more (but not enough to spend $12 on another portion). Took my wife here for her birthday. We both were blown away as soon as we walked in. It is such a beautiful place and has a great atmosphere. Customer service was amazing. Came for breakfast but were late by thirty minutes. However, lunch was on point. We did the Power Lunch with a mighty hearty 5oz bacon cheeseburger with the Taft Salad and ordered soup. I loved my corn and truffle soup, the fries were perfect, and the burger was almost too much food. Dad said the half Reuben was one of the best he's had. Was staying downtown for work and looking for a yummy breakfast place - a quick 4 min walk was Taft Diaz! From previous reviews - the chilaquiles looked fantastic - so we decided to go! Two of us got the chilaquiles and the other the avocado toast. Both meals made our tummies VERY happy - and that avocado toast was the BEST she's ever had! We also had epic latte's and fresh squeezed OJ. Fast friendly service (Leslie) and a chef (JP) who really knows his stuff - we will be back! read more

Had been meaning to try Taft Díaz for awhile and just never got around to it with the pandemic, but finally found a quiet weekday night earlier this month to go for dinner. Almost everything about this place is great. The service was knowable and punctual but not overbearing. The cocktails were outstanding and they also have along an extensive wine and spirits menu. We kind of sampled a bit of everything on the food menu (it's not long) and each dish was delicious. The clear winner in my book though was roasted half chicken. It was easily one of our top ten dining experiences in El Paso and plan to go back soon. Wish more places here served food like this. My only complaint is that the environment really feels like you're eating in a hotel lobby, because you are eating in a hotel lobby. read more

They cannot follow instructions. I specifically asked for my bacons and fruits to be on the side so that it is separated from my pancakes. When I got my order, not only that they did not put on the side, but the bacons are mixed with my fruits. HELLO! Cold vs hot, sweet vs salty.......Will never be back. read more
