We are newer to the area and haven't had a problem with our boiler before. Now we have emergency, our boiler stopped working in the middle of the night and it is well below freezing outside. I'm currently 9 months pregnant and after several hours of no heat and it getting much colder, we called Tag. They said they they only come for emergency if you're an existing/loyal customer. No where on the website does it say you had to have used them before to get their services. In fact, the website says "24-Hour Service When You Need It The Most". It's one thing to be busy, or not available. It's another to decline a service just because we are new to an area and in need of help before our pipes freeze. Helping us out in this tight spot would have made us loyal customers. Don't say you offer 24hr service when you clearly don't. I will never call this company again. read more

Let me start off by saying that the people at this company are super nice and accommodating. However, I am not a fan of the troubleshooting skills a professional plumbing and heating company should have. I feel I was "jipped" into buying a very expensive part that didn't require replacement. The technician said "most likely" the aquastat switch is bad. He was never able to prove 100% it was bad. It's a $400 part. $200 at Home Depot. He swapped out the old one and it did not fix the original problem. He could not find out the problem and had to call out his manager to come to my house for help. Come to find out there was a break in the line from the thermostat to the boiler. Which caused the boiler not to receive the signal to fire the boiler and start the circulator. So naturally if there is no signal from the thermostat to the boiler nothing is going to happen. I'm convinced that the original aquastat switch was fine and I paid for a new part that didn't require replacement. So, that being said, if I'm a technician I'm checking the most obvious and cheapest problems first before switching out one of the most expensive. **UPDATED** So once again, I'd like to say that the staff here are very accommodating and do care about their customers. I'd like to send out a special thanks to Sean and Scott who has been to my house twice now for the same problem I was having and fixing it. That being said, the original problem wasn't solved the first or second time, but the third time it was. They had replaced the control switch the first time and I still had problems. They found a break in the wiring from inside the wall from the thermostat to the boiler. They fixed that. After installing the control switch and fixing the break in the line I continued to have issues. Another tech by the name of Scott came out again and made a slight adjustment on the Hi and Low temp setting on the control switch. My problem was the boiler was firing, but there was intermittent power getting to the circulator, which resulted in no heat being transferred to the baseboard heaters. I, myself verified this and troubleshooted the problem and had to explain a 3rd time to Tag that the problem is in the control switch that they replaced the first time. Sean came out within a couple hours and checked out the whole system and replaced the control switch again. Now the heating system works as it should. In the end there were no extra charges and I think a lot of this could have been avoided when they made their 2nd trip out to my house rather than a 3rd and paid more attention to detail at the problems I was having in the first place. The switch is an expensive part to replace, but things to fail out of the box an I believe this could have been solved a lot faster. read more

Just had my chimney swept. The owner, Jon came out and did the work himself. He was very friendly and professional. He examined the chimney and advised me of water getting in there and explained what that could potentially do. He did not try to sell me more services. Even when I asked about a cap (which I appreciated). Arrived within the time slot that was given to me. Protective pad was put down to keep area clean. He finished the job in a very reasonable time frame and cleaned up after himself. I highly recommend TAG Chimney Sweep. read more

Had a similar experience with TAG as a few other reviewers, they installed and serviced my high efficiency furnace and A/C in 2005, but when warranty ended in 2010, they left me scrambling to find a new HVAC service company for this specialty furnace. They decided they weren't going to service NH. I ran into them in 2016 and they promised they would service my furnace again AND they did in the spring of 2017. I actually liked the service I received from the technicians. In the spring of 2018, I started getting post cards reminding me to service my furnace and A/C, so we called to schedule service and the person who answered the phone was adamant that we weren't a customer and they didn't install our furnace. She did schedule service for the next week and promised to call back and confirm, but never did. We called back and were told that the owner again decided not to service New Hampshire. Now we are unexpectedly scrambling again to find yet another HVAC service company. I can only surmise that we are just not profitable enough anymore to drive out to service what they installed, well at least this year. When the economy goes south someday, I am sure we will start getting post cards again. read more

Great service from TAG and very knowledgable. They are busy, but can always make it out to you if its an emergency. They installed a ductless Mitshubishi for me, and after I had already put down the deposit, the office manager found a $1500 rebate available from the state, in addition to the $500 from NStar. They were very helpful in getting all the rebate paperwork filled out and sent to the right places for me. read more

I feel obligated to update my review of TAG because they, together with my neighbour, are absolute stars. Somehow (I'll get to that momentarily) our heating got switched off today, a fact I didn't notice until I was done watching, "Poldark," so a ringing endorsement for PBS there. I called one place local to Maynard, freaking-out because (1) it's going to be 18 degrees tonight and (2) I have a hedgehog who has her own heat zone and will literally die if she isn't kept warm. I talked to a woman who basically questioned whether I even OWNED my home and that I was basically an idiot. I only called this other outfit because I knew TAG was in Ayer and didn't know if they could handle the emergency call at that distance. I called them and whoever the tech was was amazing. He had us take photos of our furnace and looked them over, more photos, etc. We assumed it was the pilot light so he was walking us through that, and at this point, our neighbour was also involved (as he has the same heating system and has 30 years of home ownership on us). Long story short, we figured-out that the switch upstairs that says, "Oil Burner" was flipped OFF after my sweater fell off the banister and caught it on the way down this afternoon, switching the whole thing off. My neighbour got on the phone with the tech and called my husband and I bozos (deservedly so) and the tech was SUCH a great sport about it. I was horrified because we just interrupted this man's Sunday night for an hour of troubleshooting when all we had to do was flip. a. switch. Consummate professional, great humour, and handled our complete ineptitude so well and saved us the cost of a service call! Thank You! read more

Terrible experience!! Had them come out to service our A/C in April when our A/C stopped working in August we called to have TAG to come out and take a look. We were told that they could not get to the A/C to service due to the small space and installation of the A/C so far from door/hatch in the ceiling...when asked how they serviced it in April I was told they cleaned through the vent in ceiling and didn't need to go into the attic. Owner stated that we would need a carpenter to move our A/C unit closer to the hatch in the ceiling before they would come and fix our A/C Unit. Called two other companies and they had no problem with fixing our unit...no need to call a carpenter they both said (by the way we explained that we had an asthmatic child). read more

They claim on the front page of their website that Belmont/Arlington/Watertown are in their service area. However, when I asked about routine preventative service on my boiler, they claimed Belmont wasn't in their service area. My guess is their service area changes based on how much money they expect to make off you. I'm sure they'd have remembered Belmont was in their coverage if I'd inquired about installing a completely new boiler. This kind of thing suggests they put profits above customers, and not the other way around. You can argue that's what a business should do, but I'd argue that they'd maximize profits in the long run if they put customers first in the short run. It also doesn't give me a good feeling about a business if they're not honest with people. If they'd just said they were too busy to come out to Belmont for a routine service, instead of lying, I'd at least have had respect for them. And not written this. read more

Yes I wrote a review about my freedom boiler since they touch it then the main board when out and tried to contact them on Friday evening and there phone system was not working so I called comfort heating and they came right out and replaced board and a couple of sensors and working great. But I still had to spend $435 to tag heating & cooling. I ask my self if something went wrong i would have fixed it for just the cost of the board and sensors since i was the last one to touch it. I am a electrician and that would of been customer service not to charge labor. read more

When we first moved to our new house we hired TAG to maintain our A/C and Heat. When I had my water heater fail I called TAG. It took them three days to get me an estimate. By then I had already hired someone else who quoted me a price and installed it that day. Last month when I turned on my central A/C it wasn't working. To make a long story short I called TAG to see if they could temporarily fix it and to give me a quote for a new unit. I took a day off to be here when they came to fix/quote. They called to cancel at the hour they were supposed to be here and never called me back to reschedule. Had Nashoba Air do the A/C and couldn't be happier with their work. Maybe the guys at TAG don't need the money. read more

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I have pink fiber glass insulation falling out of the ceiling from the vent them installed in my ceiling. I have to live in a hotel, can't breath, and have no where to turn for help. read more
