This review is based on the service we experienced today. My partner, our 5-year-old daughter, and I visited The Pozole Place on a Sunday. We placed an order for pozole, a tamal, and chorizo fundido. While waiting, my daughter kept saying she was very hungry, so I politely got up and asked our server if there was any item that could come out a little faster for her. The server responded that nothing would be ready in less than 15 minutes, which I understood, and I returned to our table. Our server then came to our table and explained that Sundays are very busy and asked if we wanted to cancel our order. We said no and continued waiting while explaining to our daughter that it would take some time. However, she continued asking if we wanted to cancel. Shortly after, she told us she had already canceled our order because I had asked about the wait time. I was surprised because I never asked to cancel the order -- I only asked if anything could come out sooner for my hungry child. At that point, we realized our food would take even longer because the order had been canceled, so we decided to leave. My partner commented that it was upsetting the order had been canceled without our approval, and the situation escalated quickly. The woman, who later identified herself as the owner, became very loud in front of customers waiting at the door, which was embarrassing for us. I tried calmly explaining to a customer near the entrance what had happened, but the owner came back, shut the door in my face, and told me I was never welcome there again, claiming we "always make problems there." That statement was completely untrue. We had not been there in over a year, and we had never had any issues during previous visits. So she is such a big liar. We ended up going to Casa Rubio's instead, where we received great service and enjoyed good food :) We are foodies and never had an issue before at any other restaurant ...

Carne asada burrito with lettuce and tomato's

The restaurant is not very big. It's cozy and comfortable. The staff was nice. The carne asada burrito was very good. There was no fatty meat inside. I added lettuce and tomato to the burrito. The chicken pozole was hot n tasty. A little spicy for my wife and I but very good. The waitress said it wasn't spicy but that's an individuals opinion. If you don't eat spicy food it will probably be spicy for you.

I generally love this place. This is my go to place with my son. The restaurant is cozy and staff are always friendly. Food is great. Guacamole and chips are delicious! The drinks come in a large glass which I love to order an horchata with dinner. Funny enough I haven't had their pozole but have tried their tacos and burritos. My kids love this place as well. Hope you enjoy!

Food was amazing, service was absolutely outstanding, and love the ambiance! We sat in the outside patio area, which is cozy and intimate. Our server was really attentive and friendly as well. We'll definitely be back to eat here again, the pozole was delicious and so was the California burrito. 5 stars!

Beef taquitos and Carnitas street tacos.

This is my 4th time trying this place. I get different things every time I come this time I got taquitos I really wanted flautas, but they said they didn't have them. I got Carnitas tacos and two tamales with raja's and cheese. The last time I came I wasn't very pleased with my order especially for the price so I said I wasn't gonna come back but I'm back today. My food was very good. My only complaint would be. I only got a couple of specs of cilantro and onions in my tacos. I've tried all their tamales and I did not care for any of them except these. They are absolutely delicious. I got an order for my daughter when she comes to visit tonight. Two carne asada tacos and one of the tamales. She will love the fact that they give radishes on the side. I took my food to go, and it was very mellow and clean inside.

Ohhhh here we go those potato tacos I mentioned in my review.

I've tasted.. love the little place very quaint Pozole is absolutely delicious. RED or Green . It's either posole or potato tacos. I don't like to veer off too much.. The Pozole Place is one of my go to spots in Rancho Cucamonga, and it never disappoints. I come here often, and every single visit the food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and tastes like true comfort food. What really sets them apart for me is that they have menudo on deck 7 days a week, which is rare and such a huge win when that craving hits. Not many places can keep that kind of consistency, but they absolutely do. It's not loud and I get my work done on my laptop as I enjoy some evenings. Their pozole is always rich and packed with flavor, the portions are generous, and the service is always friendly and welcoming. You can tell they really care about quality. If you're in Rancho Cucamonga and want authentic Mexican comfort food that hits every time, I highly recommend this place.

I had a very disappointing experience here today. I ordered a green pozole (chicken) and a taco plate from a waitress with a neck tattoo. When the food arrived, a different employee dropped it off, and the pozole was red pork pozole instead of the green chicken pozole we ordered. We immediately let that employee know the order was incorrect, and she took it back. A few moments later, our original waitress came to the table with an aggressive attitude and asked my wife, "So you want to switch your order from red to green?" This made it seem like we had changed our order rather than acknowledging that the wrong order had been taken in the first place. We explained that we had originally ordered the green pozole. She then told us that since we were "switching" it, it would take a while to make. When the green pozole finally arrived, she dropped the bowl on the table without making eye contact and walked away. The wait was so long that we had already finished the entire taco plate by the time the pozole arrived. We decided to just take the pozole to go. The waitress continued avoiding our table, so we eventually had to get up and walk to the counter to pay. When we asked for limes and onions to go with the green pozole, the owner informed us there would be an additional charge for each side. We paid, but the overall experience had already been soured. I told the owner about our experience, and while I was explaining what happened, the waitress with the neck tattoo walked by and laughed. I even pointed it out to the owner and said, "See, she's laughing about it right now." The owner said she would speak with the employee. After reading other reviews, it seems that poor customer service may be a recurring issue here. Mistakes happen, but the lack of accountability, poor attitude, and dismissive behavior turned a simple order mix-up into a very negative dining experience. read more

Horrible attitude!!! Did not even want to stay to eat before I left!! Listen to the other reviews claiming that the owner and staff are rude, unhelpful, and disrespectful. We tried to order food and asked what kind of meat they have, but the waitress just kept saying "it's menudo meat, the standard one". The kind of meat you use for menudo varies a LOT, so it doesn't really help at all. A simple "we're not sure, we just order it with a preset variety" would've been fine. Instead, the owner comes over, and she starts by asking "do you know what menudo is?" when we try asking. Immediately defensive, she starts arguing. Ridiculous and so sad how much attitude everyone on staff has, and how rude the owner is. Not worth it at all! read more

They were accommodating within reason. Family and I were trying to decide to either eat inside or outside, the host came up to us and gave our daughter Easter eggs to play with while she waited. The chicken verde pozole tastes like something you can get from a can. The micheladas are horrible. Instead of returning it we asked for a tad more mix in hopes it will improve the ones we got and they charges us $4 more each even though the ones they already charged us for tastes like beer with tajin and lime juice. First and last time here. read more

After passing by this spot a handful of times, I finally made my way in and I'm so glad I did! Whether or not you're going for a bowl of pozole on a rainy day, there is plenty on the menu to choose from. My friends and I started with chips and guac, which included complimentary red and green salsas. The chips were freshly made and the salsas/guac were soo tasty- it was hard not to save room for my meal! I had a small bowl of red pozole for lunch, which included a hearty serving of toppings and 3 homemade tostadas. My only qualm was the limited meat and hominy. I would be back in a heartbeat though! read more

I love being in pain, and when you ask for spicy, you will get spicy. My go to is the chongqing zajiang or the yibin burning noodles. I've also tried chengdu zajiang and the sour pickled mustard with shredded pork, the stir fried potatoes, and the chicken with chili sauce. All dishes were excellent. I think since we had multiple waiters come by, so they may have gotten confused with our party? The food was enjoyable but no avocado in the house salad was a bummer. I found this restaurant after craving pozole on a nice Saturday evening. When we arrived, we noticed a lovely outdoor patio, but chose to dine inside instead. We were greeted warmly and seated within minutes. The menu offers a great variety of traditional Mexican dishes. My husband ordered the chilaquiles with salsa roja, topped with eggs and served with a side of beans, while I went for the pozole rojo with pork. One thing I noticed about the pozole is that the pork didn't seem to be cooked together with the hominy. The meat came diced into small cubes and was a bit dry and tough, missing the depth of flavor you usually get when everything simmers together in one pot with the bones that give traditional pozole its rich taste. I did have to add a generous amount of salt and lime to bring out the flavor. It wasn't bad just not quite the homemade taste I was hoping for. Still, I enjoyed it enough and would order it again. The restaurant itself is small but clean, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the prices were fair for the quality and portions. My spouse and I agreed on tortilla soup and Red pork Pozole. The perfect pairing to fight the cruda. The owner treated us like cousins. We had the most amazing spread to go with our picks. The pozole had its own garnish flight of diced onion, sliced lines, chopped cabbage and radishes. My tortilla soup was enhanced with a side of more tortilla strips. We also added the chips and salsa. I am OBSESSED with the green pozole - I could easily eat this soup multiple times per week. The staff is really friendly and you can tell they are genuinely proud of the food they sell. I had breakfast here this morning, I had the chorizo plate it was very bland. Everything on my plate tasted bland, just horrible. Not sure if I'll return but probably not. read more
