This is an update from my previous review. Honestly, I think Tailgate has upped their game with their current brewer (love Wes too, but as a team, they rock) and is hitting more high notes. I have been loyal since opening and I am a long term mug club member, so I am loyal either way, but it is good to see the game rising up a bit. The beer? Some of their staples are okay, others are really good. The Southeast is on point and a very good west coast style IPA, although it is a bit more complex than pine. I think the peanut butter milk stout is good, but the Imperial is even better. It is flavored via malts, so safe for those with a peanut allergy - but always double check to be safe? The newest IPAs have, for the most part, been very good (4+ on my Untappd ratings; older were more mid to upper 3s). But their new star is the Schnack series of fruited sours. There have been a small number that were not quite there for me, but the majority are very good. The choice of doing 6 varieties on a raspberry base for their 6th anniversary was brilliant. The food? They have it. And a variety of it. The pizzas are very good. I won't say the tops in the metro area, but far better than most places on the west side. They also run a half price special on Wednesday. For those with gluten issues, they have a gluten free crust option. They have a pizza of the month that rotates (November is the bomb, although too rich to eat too often - it is basically a thanksgiving meal on pizza dough). I really love the baked wings, as well (with the new fryer, not sure if they switched to frying). They now have French fries, including loaded fries of various types, which are ridiculous, but in a good way. :P They added an ice cream shop last year, which is a nice addition. I have not tried it personally, but with Tailgate being so kid friendly, ice cream makes sense. For beer lovers, they have a great mug club, with discounts on drafts, cans, growlers, and merch. Plus specials on Tuesday, including $1 beer for kegs they are kicking and mug club appreciation nights, where everything but the more pricey special beers are $1 (and still get a discount on the special beers). I have been a member long enough my card is falling apart and will have to be replaced soon. This location (they have one in midtown and East Nashville as well) has picnic tables in back (more COVID friendly), as well as a barn when the weather is not as nice (or you want to avoid sunburn?). read more

TailGate is a cool brewery and this is my favorite of the locations (in part because it's the one closest to me but also because of the great outdoor space and views). Plenty of parking and easy accessibility are a plus. (EDIT:) They brew ALL of their own beer and it's a wide variety of flavors to choose from from IPAs to stouts and all in between. The food is not bad either, interesting pizza combinations--notably the mac n cheese (it's way better than it sounds) and hot chicken pizzas. read more

Perfect place to meet friends and the pizza is great! Huge outside area so perfect for a day of nice weather. You order at the bar which can sometimes be a line but while you wait you can grab a beer. Big selection of beer and will give you a taste if you are unsure! read more

It was a busy busy day and the middle of the week, we were visiting our daughter and son in law while we were in town checking on the progress of our house down south of Nash when we remembered we had missed our typical Tuesday night pizza night back home in AZ...what would we do? How do we remedy this situation in Nashville? Well thankfully our kids live not to far from here and pointed us in the direction of amazing foods and beer in a barn / warehouse setting! Here we go...... Ambiance: As you can see from the large mural outside this place has the hippy / artsy vibe which was cool as it sat upon a hill off old hickory blvd. the inside was chock full mid cool lock art depicting athletes famous sayings and other interesting wood paintings all over the wall and a huge beer board representing all of the many flavors they had to offer. Food: Lots of customizable individual and specialty favorites ready to order at the food station. Some appetizers / ice cream in a different section as well. We ordered the Jerk chicken pizza which was tangy but not overly spicy / the Siracha chicken pizza which my son in law said was great and a bit spicy due to the jalapeños / a meat pizza which was fairly standard & a simple pepperoni pizza for my daughter. All of it was tasty and done just right / crust was soft inside and crispy outside with a lots of toppings that tasted fresh. Pretzel bites were ok but for the price they were a bit much / pretty standard Dijon mustard and unfortunately the beer cheese for a brewery was not good. Since I typically only have 1-2 beers I stuck with the 6 hop ipa and it was delicious / did try the sample of the peanut butter porter but was not impressed as it has huge coffee tones and not PB tones.... Price: Well as it happened we lucked out and it was Half Off pizza night which was awesome saving us at least $35 in pizza so that's a HUGE bonus - I'd come back here every Wednesday if I were living around here - will see if they expand to Franklin and if so I'll be a regular!! Service: Everything is self service here from ordering food / beer & ice cream although we did have a nice waitress come over and ask how everything was and if I wanted another beer so that was nice. Summary: Do it for Wednesday nights - they even have a local barre / yoga & beer night on Wednesday's so that's a good way to kill a few calories and replace them quick. Keep munching!!! read more

Great beer! We try to stop by at least one local brewery when traveling, and so glad we chose TailGate. The location is perfect! Space both indoors and outside with shaded areas. Amazing beer selection with about 20+ options, Including $5 shots with any pint purchase - I chose a shot of Skrewball. Also ordered two pizzas which both were delicious, along with an order of wings with fancy and buffalo sauce. The kids also enjoyed the art throughout the location - lots of paintings and murals to take photos of. Make sure you stop by! read more

My family of six came for lunch (not beer!) so I can only speak for what we experienced. Ample 'seat yourself' seating, order-at-the-counter, pizza and appetizers. They also have the sandwiches and salads but we didn't try those. We ordered a medium pizza to share, garlic, knockers, taco fries, and onion rings. Everything came out fairly quickly and we enjoyed every last bite. The pizza reminds me of a better version of Domino's or Pizza Hut and I mean that in the best way, the garlic knockers were family favorites on the inside of the cheese reminded me of stuffed crust pizza. The waffle fries with taco toppings that is the way I could've passed on, but they weren't bad. They came with chunks of chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, and nacho cheese. Onion rings were standard frozen to fried. The ranch was just OK but overall the experience was worth the price. They also had half price appetizers for Mondays and we just missed the 11 AM to 1 PM lunch special. Lots of fun movie and TV show references around the restaurant. TailGate HQ has so much space, indoors and outdoors. It's so great for casual hangs with friends, especially if anyone has kids or dogs. Not a lot of places have this kind of vibe, unfortunately. Why I say unfortunately: The prices are OUTRAGEOUS. Im sorry, but $6 for half a cup of beer?! $12 for the whole cup? And then the food prices.... want to add some parm, peppers, and basil to your pizza? Things that are normally free? $3. Want a basket of fries? $10! For PLAIN fries!! Try $15 for loaded ones. Same with the salads. $10 for a basic house salad. $15 for anything else. If you have to go, I think the best value is the sandwiches. My Cuban was good in size and taste and came with chips for $15. Want fries instead? Gotta pay another $3. It's so ridiculous that it's almost funny. Maybe even disrespectful. We literally cannot afford to hang out here. Which is such a bummer because it's a great spot with great staff. Just wish the prices weren't so ridiculous. read more

Chattanooga pizza lovers...I had the BEST PIZZA I believe I have ever had at TailGate Brewery last night. We wanted to go to Stir, but it was a 1-2 hour wait. The rain was pouring down and we noticed their shop right across the allyway. The staff at TailGate was so very friendly. They came over to chat a couple of times just to be sure we were happy customers. Great atmosphere - great pizza - great service! I stopped in this brewery and thought the atmosphere was pretty chill and the beer was pretty good. Also the service was good. I guess my biggest complaint is that in a city of some incredible breweries, Tailgate has decided that they are worthy of being higher than the other breweries by over 30%. It seems most of the breweries around Nashville charge $6.00 for the majority of their pints, my choice of their hazy IPA, which they called the Battlesteed, was $8.00. After tax it was $8.74. Add a $2.00 tip and we are looking at close to $11.00 for a beer. The other beer was more fairly priced, so I knocked off only one star, but I do believe it was worthy of a mention. They had a very good peanut butter stout (fairly priced at $6.00) and the orange wheat was pretty good. I did not eat here, but the food looked pretty good. A group next to me was gleefully tearing into a pizza. Maybe next time I will give it a try. Again, this establishment has a great vibe and good service, I just wish they thought on charging a bit better on my choice of beer. read more

Just to be clear, this is for the Bellevue location. This place is so fun inside; a great place to hang out without feeling rushed with friends. I have been a few times now, mainly for events, but have ended up in the main area eating a few times. I don't drink beer, but man...the pizza is so good. The crust is nice and thin so you feel like you're getting a good amount of toppings compared to bread for each slice. The flavor combos are really good too. The last time I went I got the Dec pizza of the month which was Hot Honey. So. Good. Jalapenos, sausage, cheese, and honey. It was a tasty flavor combo. I was so happy that I chose to order the large so I would have leftovers for the next few days because I couldn't wait to eat it the next day. Lots of menu options in the pizza, sandwiches and yummy fried family of foods...and even salads for the guilty/healthy folk. Our pizza was legit...great tasting sausage, pepperoni and we added feta. It's very easy to order, and they text you when it's ready to pick up. The beer options are great, especially the IPA options. Oh, and they have soft serve ice cream with all kinds of toppings and "adult shakes" for going all out. Also love the back outside seating area as it's Yuuge. My husband and I gave this spot a try since it's so close. We had been there a few times for their ice cream which is so so yummy! They are big cups full of toppings which are delicious and decadent. Since we liked these, one night we gave the restaurant a try. Truth be told, we were disappointed. We waited in a long line to order food...they were busy which is to no fault of their own. When we ordered it cost us over $50 for 2 small pizzas and 2 small orders of wings. We waited almost 30 minutes to get our food and just watched as people who ordered after us kept getting their foo. My husband checked and they said it would be out soon, but it still took a while. The pizza came out and it looked good, but to be honest it wasn't anything special. People had hyped us up for this pizza for a long time and we were excited to try it, but it really just tasted like pizza you could get at a baseball game. The wings were TINY...very very small. I feel like the wings are exceptionally over priced. In addition, they tried charging my husband $1.00 for a side of ranch and they charged me $1.00 for an extra side of sauce on my wings, but they really just charged me for sauce (which it should come with) because my wings came dry. Finally, we got 2 beers which were served almost room temperature. It was disappointing because when I drink a beer I would love something cool and refreshing. I couldn't finish it because it was too warm. Overall, this place is cool to hang out with folks, but overall, not worth it for the cost of what you get. read more

Long over due review here but I just registered on Yelp! Five stars! I visited on a Wednesday for 1/2 off pizza day, back in December of 2021. The bartender was friendly and well versed on the menu. I came in specifically for the pretzel pizza which was a specialty pizza at the time. The pizza was extremely good! It even had jalapeños on it which was a nice touch. I sadly don't recall the beer I ordered but I remember enjoying it. I came in around lunch time and it wasn't busy at all. I imagine it's much busier in the evening and on weekends. They have indoor and outdoor seating. A few TV's on the inside and you can also buy some of their beers (such as canned beer) to take with you and enjoy later. It's a cool spot with a lot of art and what I call memorabilia on the walls. Very fitting for a brewery. Parking lot also seems big enough to handle the crowds on a busy day. Awesome brewery! We had a few hours to kill and had a lot of fun hanging out outside and enjoying some beers. The brewery itself is massive - tons of space inside, along with a covered barn (pavilion-style) and a whole section of picnic tables outside overlooking the rolling hills. They also had a nice frisbee golf set-up, if you're into that. We ordered our first round inside at the bar, but after that our bartender came outside to check on us every so often and provide suggestions. As far as beer goes, they had dozens of offerings, including at least 8 hazy IPAs - my FAV! The best was the Man of the Woods. They are family-friendly and I noticed a lot of families as we left in the early afternoon. Great place! read more

Although this is a review on a BREWERY, I'm not a huge fan of beer, so I'm not commenting on that (I did not order any). They have lots of selections for non-beer drinkers however, and I absolutely loved their Prosecco Cider. The garlic knots are amazing, filled with garlic and cheese, and so is their meat lovers pizza. The pizza is made fresh to order, so there is a little bit of a wait, but they will buzz you when it's ready. It is worth the wait!! Nice and hot with very fresh ingredients. The ambiance of the brewery is really cool. There is the main building (where you order food and drinks), as well as an even larger building out back, that is dog-friendly. The inside and outside of the buildings are decorated in beautiful artwork, and you're bound to find an "Instagrammable" mural. read more

In my time in Nashville, no where have I felt more at ease in any restaurant than at TailGate Brewery. The vibe is incredibly casual, and pop cultural references adorn every feasible wall in mural marvels. You will be greated by Pulp Fiction caricatures holding Tailgate brews on one entry wall, while the other is festooned with the Marauder's Map from Harry Potter. When I tell you the mere walls are a feast for the eyes, you know this will be an excellent dining location. First off: there is ample parking at TailGate west. In addition to the generous lot in front of the restaurant, they also have a section marked out for overflow parking. If you're worried about crowding indoors for a seat, fear not: on warm, summer evenings, they have not one, not two, but three variations in outdoor seating options. There is a semi-enclosed section with screened windows to provide some shade, a "porch" area with canvas coverings, and open-air picnic tables. The restaurant looks out over a gorgeous hill, all lush and green. Bonus: you can take a picnic blanket and your pup to this location! The beers are amazing, and they truly have something on tap for everyone. This is a brewery, after all. The bartenders are always willing to give a recommendation, and they are known for being extremely friendly. I've never had a pour I didn't like here, from hazy IPAs to sours to stouts. If you drink beer, you will find something you enjoy. I recently noticed they even have a prosecco cider available. Imaginative people out at TailGate inventing all the brews. The food pairs perfectly with the choice beverages. You can get everything from my favorite spicy feta dip to some truly mouth-watering pizza options. They have specials pretty often, and weekly discounts as well. My favorite has to be the California Burrito Pizza special. It was a mix of, I kid you not, waffle fries and assorted rich sauces. Also, they never skimp on the cheese. This brewery is magic. Did I mention they have soft serve as well? They also just recently constructed an outdoor bar area, so if you are dining porch-side, you can stay al fresco as long as you like. read more

My favorite brewery in town!! I cannot rave about Tailgate Brewery enough. They have a wide offering of beers and ciders on tap, with an abundance of flavors. I love their art work that is seen across all their locations. They have a great food menu, their garlic knockers are my go-to for a small bite, but their pizza and wings are also great heavier bites! Pizza was good, but DO NOT get the wings it's a scam. $10 gets you 1/2 pound of wings which comes out to 4 wings. This has happened twice now (once at the midtown location) I figured the first time was a mistake and didn't want to cause a fuss at the table especially over a few bucks, but damn why even serve 4 wings that's embarrassing.
