I am not someone who orders dresses online because I am old fashioned and like to try them on at the store before buying them. I was running out of time, and had not found a dress in a store, so I ordered a dress online. When I received it, I loved it but it was a little big on top. At this point, I only had 4 days before I had to leave for the wedding. After calling some tailors I had used before, and who were not able to help, I looked at Yelp. I took a chance by calling "Tailoring by Monica" after looking at reviews on Yelp. I am so happy I did! She was very understanding of my situation. I took it to her, tried on the dress and she told me what needed to be done. She told me she could tailor it and have it ready for me in two days. I went back two days later and the dress looked GREAT! She also added hooks to hold my bra straps in place! Her pricing was very reasonable. I was more than satisfied. I wish I had known about her when my girls were in high school and needed dresses tailored for dances. I know I will be a repeat customer. I took my wedding dress to Tailoring by Monica to be altered, and was extremely pleased with the level of expertise and care provided. The shop is clean, well lit and organized. My dress needed to be taken in at the waist, the length shortened, and a bustle added, and all were completed perfectly. I thought I loved my wedding dress before, but after trying it on with the alterations, I was amazed at how great it looked on me! I usually visit my tailor back home, but since I live Naperville, I needed a dress hemmed for a wedding. Monica is a nice woman and she did a great job on my dress. I am giving this place 3 stars because on the price it cost just to hem my dress a few inches was 45 dollars. I went to Monica in desperate need to have a bridesmaid dress altered. She told me it was impossible to have my dress altered. I would have been okay with that answer but she was entirely rude about it. I was surprised because I've been to her before and she was never that way. Since her business expanded it seems like she has become too busy and less caring of your needs. I went to another tailor a mile away who helped me with my dress without hesitation and it turned out great. I'm still upset about the experience at Monica's though :/ She truly made me feel bad about myself. I won't be going back there, ever. read more

If I could give this places zero stars I would. I have no idea how they have such good reviews but they do not deserve it. Never again will I go to this establishment. The women who work here, especially the older blonde lady with braces, are so unbelievably rude!! First, my husband had a suit here tailored and it was crooked. Went to Monica a month before my sisters wedding to get my bridesmaid's dress hemmed and taken in. It took her 5 minutes to pin it and told me it would be ready in a week. I went back and it was done and tailored perfectly! The price is reasonable and the work is great. I will be taking my wedding dress soon to get tailored as well! read more

For too long, I've had a pile of things that I've told myself I needed to be fixed or altered and didn't do anything about it (hello procrastination!), mostly because I didn't know of someone competent enough that had hours that would compliment my work schedule. But that all changed when a few people told me about Monica and her team of fabulous seamstresses. She is located just north of downtown Naperville and has early and late weekday hours, as well as being open till around 4pm on Saturday. And, of course her (& her team's) work is top notch (and about a week turnaround time, depending on the volume of other alterations she has). I've taken a few things to get altered/fixed to her and each time I've been really pleased with her work. She stitched close a large tear in a pair of pants (which was almost invisible to eyes not looking for such a thing!), as well as altering a few tops & pants perfectly. Went there for 2 times for 2 suits and a pair of dress pants. The first suit fits me almost perfectly only few alternations needed. She did fine. The second suit wasn't altered properly so that the shoulder is still too wide. My last visit to her was for my pair of dress pants, which she charged 40 dollars for just hemming them. read more

NEVER WILL GO BACK. Got Yelled at because I pre-cut a shirt the way I wanted it. Was charged $20 on hems on 2 pairs of paints & on THIS shirt it was $30 (overcharged) Also was not told how much the shirt was going to be before leaving. I took my dress for my daughter's wedding to Monica to alter the "cold shoulder" sleeve into an actual short sleeve using the material from the matching shawl. While discussing what she would do Monica took her scissors and cut off the shoulder strap. We had not discussed cost or agreed yet on final look. I was now committed. She also needed to shorten the dress. She gave me a date three weeks away to come back to check length before attaching sleeves. The length was perfect but now the dress was too tight across my rib cage, it had fit perfectly with a little room and I had lost three pounds. Monica admitted to taking it in a bit so it would be a closer fit. I told her I did not want that and to let it back out. I came back on assigned date had to rearrange my entire day to make the appointed time only to be told it was not done. Three weeks later it was finished the sleeves looked beautiful but the dress was still too tight Monica insisted she had let it out. Either the way she attached the sleeves altered the entire fit or she had taken those scissors to the material she had taken in. Then I got the bill $190. The dress was only $200. With no choice I took my now too tight dress with beautiful sleeves home tried it on for my daughter and the bust stitching all came out. I believe Monica is a talented designer but quality of work is very poor, she is rude and I felt robbed between the cutting before agreement, dress altering that was not agreed on and shoddy sewing. I loved this dress before,I should have left it alone as I will now be holding my breath all day and I have lost another two pounds. Will never go back. I am taking the dress elsewhere to have the stitching fixed that came undone. Took the dress to another seamstress she said the dress was definitely taken in and she can't let it back out as Monica cut off the material. I want my $190 back for a dress I can not wear because Monica took it in without permission!! read more
