I say if you're not in a hurry they'll be done in a few days. The two seamstresses are truly grateful when you're not asking for a rushed time table. I am fortunate enough not need to have any rush jobs as others have denoted. I noticed not all expedited items are going to be done exactly the way one customer desires. I also like the location. Easy to get to, no issue with parking and you can go to Sprouts/Trader Joe's. It can be annoying to get to this plaza right after work on a weekday with the high school near by (if you're coming from La Jolla). I haven't had any other clothing items tailored here but for sure take work pants and cheap jeans to be done here. read more

The best solution given the style and material was adding a zipper. I turn this beloved dress into the hands of strangers, and here are the results: -It was ready on time (I asked for a week, but could have been done in a couple days). -The price was great! -The dress is an uncommon shade of orange-red, and the tailor found a zipper to match. I went to Tailoring Express in April to get a dress taken in. I needed it for a trip that I was taking in 2 days (from the time I brought it in) I begged to have the dress finished by then and they were very accomidating. The alterations were resonably priced and done very well! Recently, I went back to get some button down shirts and one jacket taken in. Again, I needed one of the shirts for a trip I was taking a few days later. They were able to accomidate the timing easily. The only gripe I have is...I am wearing the jacket I took in and it still seems a bit big. I am going to try on the rest of the items tonight and bring back anything that isnt right. Note to self and anyone else who wants to try this tailor- try on the items before you leave! Im hoping they are able to fix the jacket without putting up a fuss! Why is it called Tailoring Express when the service isn't even express?? Once a strap ripped from my dress and they charged me $10... Another time, they charged me $8 to fix a hole in my shirt, okay it was a big hole but I bought my shirt for around $12 on sale...SIGH it was a pretty shirt so I had to get it fixed. Prices are too expensive and service definitely isn't express, you have to come back the next day or 2 days later. The ladies here are okay. They are asian so you kind of have to speak just a tad bit slowly but the woman that I always speak to is very nice! I am a short girl so I need a LOT of things shortened and taken in and I am never nervous to go pick up my clothes. Very kind lady who does the tailoring - I've brought a ton of clothes over the last few months to be tailored (hemming, bringing in the sides and other areas of clothing, etc.) and Ive been pleased. As a tall female, clothes never fit quite right, but investing in tailoring of items I know I will enjoy and wear more often because they really fit me is a great trade off to spending more on clothes. Clothes usually take about 4-7 days to finish clothes, which is the general average for tailoring shops, but if you want, you can ask for it done sooner. I had them make 2 small different panel curtains out of some fabric I had. Both curtains were incorrect width and length. They had pinned the size for the curtain rod slots with me there to get the right size and still somehow made them much larger than we had discussed. I had also told them to preserve as much of the original fabric as possible because I was hoping to make something else; instead I got a strange shaped, very rough cut (no straight edges) scrap that was much smaller than it should have been. I had to go buy more fabric to complete my other project. Never again. I can see but didn't have my machine with me, this should have been a very simple order. This place is the type of place I like. The price isn't consistent, they take cash, and the work is good. Sounds like the type of eating establishments I like. The price is often based on when you want it. They ask you right before they right your receipt, I usually say "whenever it's done, i don't care" and always get good prices. Hems from $6-8, had a very heavy thick suede $400 coat taken in chest, waist, and arms and it was the most i've spent on an item there @ $35 - and it was flawless work. I always go here for express dry cleaning or getting my jeans tailored. They are really nice/friendly and most of important they are fast. I do dislike it being cash only but oh well, there is an atm there and a grocery store. And there is a starbucks to get coffee if it is an hour job. read more

I love this place! I had outgrown a bridesmaid dress (oops!) and had to have an emergency alteration done. (It's as serious as it sounds!) I brought my dress here and they had it ready in 2 days for a reasonable price. $45 for a dress and sash and I couldn't even tell it had been altered except for the fact it fit! ;-) location is perfect and the lady who helped me was very helpful. I had had a few things altered at Tailoring Express over the last few years, but I really was able to appreciate their skill when my daughter and I needed to have Vietnamese Ao Dais sewn for us for my son's wedding. (We are not Vietnamese, but our son's bride is from a big Vietnamese family in Portland.) We bought our fabric in Orange County but we wanted to have the Ao Dais made in San Diego so that we didn't have to drive to Orange County for the multiple fittings required for Ao Dais. One of Van's assistants, who works only on Saturdays, said that she could sew them for us if she had enough lead time. She did a beautiful job. read more

Last night I tried on a suit dress that I plan to use for interviewing while on travel and noticed the hem had come out. My mom was going to sew it for me but recommended I see if this place can do it for me (I needed it done same-day as I was flying internationally the following day). I went in the morning and asked if the hem could be done today. She looked at the clock and said come back in 4 hours. I came back and the hem was done perfectly (no stitching shown on the outside which I am amazed at how it is done) and it was only $4!!! Very impressed with this place. I plan to bring a bunch of stuff that has been in my closet in need of fixing for years...definitely recommend! I used to use a place in Marina del Rey (West LA) when I lived up there and was never that pleased with the results as the stitching was never straight and they always ended up shorter than discussed.
