Tajines was such a pleasant surprise, especially since it was my first time having Moroccan food. I went in mostly curious (and a little worried) about the spice levels, but the dishes weren't too spicy at all and were still super flavorful and delicious. The service was a bit on the slower side, but everyone was very kind and attentive once they got to us, so it still felt like good hospitality. My favorite dish of the night was the chicken bastilla - the mix of savory, sweet, and flaky pastry totally won me over and honestly made the whole experience a hit. I've tried just about every Maghrebi restaurant I could find in San Francisco over the years, and this one has become my favorite. There used to be another spot on Polk that I loved, but after the pandemic it changed significantly. Since this restaurant opened, it's been my go-to and it is my favorite in SF! Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared. The vegetables in my couscous were cooked perfectly--the carrots were tender and flavorful, soft without falling apart. The chickpeas tasted freshly prepared rather than canned, the harira soup was delicious, and the pastries were outstanding. In fact, I would go as far as saying these are some of the freshest Maghrebi sweets I've had in San Francisco. They had been delivered that very day, and it showed. I only regret not taking more home with me. The owners are incredibly kind, and I really appreciated that they were able to make the mint tea with much less sugar upon request. Food is more than a meal--it's hospitality, tradition, and care. This place delivers all three. Highly recommended. They take around 45min to bring the order, it's the closest to the traditional morrrocan and algerian food. This is my go to place for food at SF. They gave us free tea last time that was nice. Went to this Moroccan tajines place today with my girlfriend since she never tried Moroccan food before, and it ended up being such a good choice. The chicken couscous and beef tajine were honestly amazing super flavorful and really authentic. The vibe was chill too. They had Moroccan music playing, and the woman who served us was super nice and made the whole experience even better. Nestled right next to Golden Boys (and sometimes hidden by the line)...is the most amazing Moroccan restaurant! I must have walked past it 50 times and never noticed! Which is wild because this has to be some of the most amazing food I've ever had in my entire life! I got some take out after work tonight for my husband and myself. We got to try the chicken tajine and the chicken bastilla. What just happened in my kitchen could easily be described as two wild beasts ravaging through some chicken like they've never eaten a morsel of food in their entire lives. We didn't even use plates like the Neanderthals that we've become because of this food! Seriously though, the sauce on the chicken tajine has to be made from magic. We were just transported to euphoria with that dish! And the homemade bread is perfect for sopping it all up! And as someone who isn't a big fan of sweets, the bastilla is the dessert made for savory lovers. The sweetness and the cinnamon and the pastry and the savory chicken...HOW?! How did they do that?! Chef Maria is a genius! I am so very excited to go back and try the food while sitting in this gorgeous restaurant. And next time I'll definitely try the mint tea! I just got back from traveling around Morocco, Mauritania and Senegal. Nothing compares to Moroccan food in my opinion. I live in Santa Cruz, which unfortunately does not have a Moroccan restaurant. So when I was planning my birthday trip to San Francisco with friends, I checked online for Moroccan restaurants. Of the three I found, Tajines looked the best. We ordered family-style, meaning we shared all the dishes. I was afraid we ordered too much food, but somehow we managed to savor it all: Lamb chops, grilled eggplant, beef burak, lentil soup, mint tea, chicken cous-cous and vegetarian tajine. Wow!!! This was yesterday and already I'm wishing I could go back today, but SF is too far. I'm pretty sure I will be dining here every time I go to the city. read more

This place is a total hidden gem, sitting quietly next to Golden Boy Pizza and deserves more traffic! The service is friendly, the atmosphere is cozy, and the food is amazing. I had the Chicken Bastilla, Seafood Bastilla, and Beef Tajine, and they were all delicious. The Skewer Mix was really smokey and flavorful, and the chicken in particular was so tender and juicy!! Surprised it's not more popular bc I think it's way better than some of the more popular places on the same street. I had a seafood Bastilla. After taxes it was 27.00. It was light as a feather so to speak and had mostly noodles, salty with tiny cut up pieces of seafood wrapped in a very thin fried crispy sort of dough. I gave a nice tip to wish them well but it hurt my pocket book and I left hungry. read more
