wow 11/10! this place deserves a line out the door for how delicious the food is and the great service! we ordered the eggplant starter which was sooo yummy. we were all starving ao we scarfed this down in 5 min I got the veggie bastilla and my friends got the chicken at the suggestion of the server which they said was a sweet dish. mine was super savory and soooooo yummm. would totally come back just for this the server was great, refilled our teas and was so personable and attentive. check out this place if you're debating on it!!

I love the atmosphere, ambiance, food and service. The owner is very nice. The place is child friendly. Staff are very nice welcoming. I love the food it's very authentic. They take around 45min to bring the order, it's the closest to the traditional morrrocan and algerian food. This is my go to place for food at SF. They gave us free tea last time that was nice. Parking is challenging...we ubered.

My wife and I just had a very pleasant and tasty dinner here, including the beef soup, lentil soup, chicken bastilla, and couscous royale. We also had the vegetable bastilla and lamb tagine, which we felt were less successful. Excellent and friendly service. If you are driving, the North Beach garage is just a couple of blocks away.

Wonderful place. Wonderful owner. Food makes my husband happy, since he's algerian. The owner is Algerian too, so we were happy all the way around. Food is on poiny point.

Amazing food and amazing service! Couldn't be happier with the meal I just had here. We ordered the chicken bastilla, beef bourak, trio platter, Moroccan tea, and couscous royal. So so good! Was just visiting SF but would absolutely come back here the next time I am in town. Slimane was so welcoming and friendly. Chef Najat's cooking was divine. Highly recommend! 10/10

Authentic moroccan cuisine and the moroccan mint tea and decor is phenomenal. We ordered the lamb tagine, the lemon olive chicken and the taktuka and moroccan mint tea. The home made moroccan bread was delicious. Wish we could have tried more off the menu but we were so full!

    Beef tajines

Went to this Moroccan tajines place today with my girlfriend since she never tried Moroccan food before, and it ended up being such a good choice. The chicken couscous and beef tajine were honestly amazing super flavorful and really authentic. The vibe was chill too. They had Moroccan music playing, and the woman who served us was super nice and made the whole experience even better. If you're looking for something tasty and different, you should definitely check this spot out. We're for sure going back.

Nestled right next to Golden Boys (and sometimes hidden by the line)...is the most amazing Moroccan restaurant! I must have walked past it 50 times and never noticed! Which is wild because this has to be some of the most amazing food I've ever had in my entire life! I got some take out after work tonight for my husband and myself. We got to try the chicken tajine and the chicken bastilla. What just happened in my kitchen could easily be described as two wild beasts ravaging through some chicken like they've never eaten a morsel of food in their entire lives. We didn't even use plates like the Neanderthals that we've become because of this food! Seriously though, the sauce on the chicken tajine has to be made from magic. We were just transported to euphoria with that dish! And the homemade bread is perfect for sopping it all up! And as someone who isn't a big fan of sweets, the bastilla is the dessert made for savory lovers. The sweetness and the cinnamon and the pastry and the savory chicken...HOW?! How did they do that?! Chef Maria is a genius! I am so very excited to go back and try the food while sitting in this gorgeous restaurant. And next time I'll definitely try the mint tea! I regret turning it down today haha everyone needs to come experience the masterful dishes at Tajine!

The space is…read morebeautiful: the inside dining room is cozy with its fireplace and features stunning flower arrangements. The outside courtyard is airy and sunny, and they play movies on the side of a building at night. The other indoor space is an art gallery. It's all very tasteful and consistently makes for a fun experience even after many years of coming here. The food is also exceptionally good. The signature madras fried chicken is seasoned with a light curry powder in the batter which makes for a tasty and subtle shift of a very well executed buttermilk fried chicken. The radicchio salad is beautiful, and the dressing, Parmesan, and anchovy balance the bitterness of the fresh radicchio nicely. It also has these lovely little flat crisps on top that are satisfying to bite into (and that I prefer to a thicker crouton). The fresh oysters are always good, and this most recent visit I got the white prawn cocktail (which I've always wanted but never ordered). It was delightful: the prawns were perfectly poached and were of extremely high quality. I also got the Heirloom porchetta, and was pleasantly surprised at how crispy the outside skin was and how flavorful, well seasoned, and juicy the inside pork meat was. It also came with some pearled cous cous which was a wonderful starch pairing to the rich flavor of the pork. Finally, I commend Foreign Cinema on their kids menu. It would be very easy to just trot out some frozen chicken nuggets or a lesser version of the adult mains (like a burger of lower quality beef or a red sauce spaghetti). Instead, Foreign Cinema chooses to deliver excellent food here as well. The kids meal starts with a very tasty plate of crudités, featuring fresh, high qualoty fruit (kiwi, strawberry) and vegetables (endives, beets). The entrees are a smaller portion of the adult entrees (e.g., a single piece of the madras fried chicken) or very good versions of a kids only entree (e.g., the Trofie pasta with either butter or marinara sauce). There's even a dessert of home made ice cream. As a parent who often has to pay exorbitant prices for crappy kids menu items, I really appreciate this and feel it's indicative of Foreign Cinema's desire to deliver on all aspects of a dining experience.

You can have a complete drive-in experience at the tables on the edges which are next to those speakers our grandparents (actually me) used to hang on the windows of their cars in the 1950s, or just take a table in the middle and enjoy the extra entertainment. Very fun. I was with a large party so was able to sample several dishes. Oyster service was superb and the available mignonette was just right. An intensely anchovy-ish Caesar was great. I had had a very late lunch and decided to make a small plate my dinner with the sirloin steak tartare. The menu I had seen online said it came with "tonnato sauce, fried capers, preserved lemon, arugula, flatbread". My dish only included the last two items, in a sea of aioli. Maybe my bad not to check the paper menu before ordering, but this does not seem a judicial substitution. And the portion of steak was teeny. Also tried the brandade and a couple of mains and overall found just very cautious seasoning, a level below what it should have been in this environment and price point.

I'm sure there are other Persian cafés and restaurants as good as Lavash. I hardly stop to think about what made Lavash interesting. The floral aroma throughout the entire atmosphere, the gentleness of the waiters and hostesses who're well focused on serving others, and their signature paper thin Lavash bread. A clear teapot filled with saffron tea with rock candy on a stick; seen how they dip it in after pouring the tea. Interesting orange color indeed! A plate of zucchini, grape tomatoes, Moroccan mint leaves, and a pair of Bulgarian cheese; complimentary for my first visit here. Persian noodle soup, filled with beans, chickpeas, and lentils; loved the floral notes in every spoonful. Main course, veggie kabob on a bed of basmati rice drenched in saffron and spices, along with some onions and mushrooms, and of course, a large Lavash bread at the bottom to fill the whole plate. The best part is to completely sandwich wrap after I marginalized the contents on the plate. Ahhh! Satisfying to the last bite of herbs and spices. Not filling though, but I had no need for any dessert. Another highly recommended place to eat for locals and tourists alike. I let some of my friends know how much they'll love the best Persian dishes locals raved about. Thumbs up for the people of Lavash!

The kebabs were made with chicken breast, but very tender and moist, and the side of hummus was fresh, creamy and delicious. We also tried the sangria which was great- not too sweet and decently strong (not watered down bad wine). For dessert, the lemon cake was tasty but odd that dried cranberries were sprinkled into the whipped cream. I appreciated the variety offered on the menu- not just typical Greek food you find everywhere else that touts "Mediterranean food". The service was super nice and efficient, and I like that it has been family owned and run (sadly an increasingly rare San Francisco characteristic these days)- you can tell the difference in the quality and thought put into the experience.

The Stuffed falafel was so good and huge 1 is enough for 2 people. The mosabaha was very refreshing and so good. The meat combo was good overall and everything was very herbally spiced, I wasn't impressed by the lamb tho but the kebab, hummus, and chicken were great! I haven't had Mousakhan before so not sure how it should taste but to me it was sweet and savory with really well cooked chicken. My guy ordered this and thought it was average. 3/5 LAMB SHISH KEBAB WRAP ~ this was my dish. I ate one half of the wrap and it only held two cubes of lamb meat. The lettuce and tomatoes made the wrap bland. The meat was seasoned, but everything was plain, so it needed more seasoning. Honestly, this was missing flavor! I'll have to add something to it when I eat the rest of this wrap at home. 2.5/5 HALF ROASTED CHICKEN AND RICE ~ Our friend ordered this dish. It needed more sumac. This tasted like plain roasted chicken. Maybe it needs more seasoning while marinating. It wasn't dry, so that's a relief.
