My brother happened to find this place nearby our hotel and it did not disappoint. Our server, MJ, was super hospitable and friendly. Service was fast and portions are big enough to share. My mom ordered their lentil soup which was nice and light. My brother and I each order their gyro wrap; I ordered the chicken gyro while he had the lamb gyro. The chicken was juicy and very tasty. My brother enjoyed the lamb gyro and said it tasted as good as the one he had while stationed in the Middle East. We of course added their French fries which were served fresh out of the fryer. My Dad ordered the mixed grilled plate which was really good, all the meat was tender. We were able to share everything and didn't have any leftovers. MJ's hospitality is unparalleled. After we finished our meal, he brought us complimentary baklava. He took the time to chat with us and tell us about his family. The baklava was crisp and not very sweet. My brother was tempted to order more, which MJ offered, but ultimately declined since we were very full. Ambiance is nice and warm, restaurant is big and spacious. The best in San Francisco! Their rice is literally perfect. The chicken kabobs is fully cooked, crispy, and juicy on the inside. Even the sumac fries are delicious. I've been walking by this place for a while, often opting for the different food options that stand out more in the area. It was only after I noticed it had such high reviews did I finally decide to give it a try. I'd been joking how I'd been looking for a good kebab place to my Turkish friend. Who would have guessed it was right under our noses. I ordered the lamb and beef gyros wrap and it is phenomenal. Absolutely perfect. Very good texture, plenty of high quality lamb and beef, not oily. Just such a good texture and reminded me a lot of something straight from europe. Outside of that, the owner was extremely gracious. He took extra time to explain menu items and really went out of his way to ensure we felt welcome and at home. The chef also came out just to say hi, seemed excited we are enjoying the offerings. Aside from the gyros i also recommend the falafel and hummus. They're had great texture and flavor, the hummus itself was lightweight and also had good consistency. I normally only like to review places I've visited a few times, just to make sure I know what to expect. But here I'll make an exception. It's obvious this place is holding itself to a high standard. This has been my go to Greek spot when I'm in North Beach. The service is always above and beyond expectations. The manager/owner is always extremely hospitable and hands on. The food is very tasty and consistent, serving the best quality food at all times. Very clean restaurant with a romantic vibe when you come here for dinner. Not alot of decor to make the place feel cramped but enough to be welcoming. Service was prompt. Prices are high for what you get which is not a lot. It is North Beach though so I came with that expectation. Pita and hummus only comes with four pieces of pita bread and a couple tablespoons of hummus. He was truly a wonderful and kind person, making our visit even more enjoyable. Phenomenal!! We lived in Astoria Queens- surrounded by Greek food .... and this is the first Greek place that we've had on the west coast that has come close and even surpassed those restaurants. We had chicken gyro plate, beef gyro, Greek salad, pita bread tzatziki and hummus. Dessert was warm and fresh baklava. Wow. Everything was fresh, seasoned beautifully, not too salty and not greasy in the slightest. The ambience is beautiful and spacious, perfect for a casual meet up or a nice date night.
