My sister and I had been obsessing with Asian (primarily Japanese) skin care products lately. We have visited Takashima in San Gabriel before hand and assumed that we will get the same customer service (which is horrible and since its the same company, we figured it will be as bad) We still went ahead and visited Arcadia location since yelp review mentions that they are better. This location is a little smaller than any other location but things are actually easier to find. This location doesn't look "cluttered" I'm pleasantly surprise to how great their Customer service is. One particular worker even spend time explaining whats the best products and how to use it for my sister. (which took at least 15 mins) They had also even given us free sample and wasn't pushy of following us around (like we are planning to steal things) Prices were a little cheaper for example, kanebo suisai cost 30 in san gabriel, here its 25. Japanese sunscreen is a thing of beauty. It works incredibly well and is some of the only stuff in the world that doesn't leave my skin feeling gross and greasy. Takashima has it, even if it's wicked expensive. All of the other beauty products in the store are fun, too, even if they're overpriced and the only writing on them is in Japanese. Yay! Takashima! This place is heaven for everyone who enjoys Japanese makeup, Rilakkuma, Hello Kitty, and basically anything cute and girly! This location is right across from Din Tai Fung so it's convenient to browse while waiting for a table. I think the prices here are pricey and you can definitely find them for cheaper online, but I prefer buying my items here because I don't want to wait for shipping lol. A good place to stock up on skincare, makeup, and hair products. Leaning on the pricier side. I buy DHC products from here, as well as some makeup--however, recently, since I no longer reside in Arcadia, I've been frequenting the shops at Atlantic Times Square more often. It finally occurred to me that Takashima really overprices their stuff. I love the customer service I get here, though. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they provide free samples with your purchase. They've recommended eyeliners, lotions, BB creams, and more to me, all of which I've been very satisfied with. I've given up on mainstream shops like Ulta and Sephora for little shops like these. I have definitely put my trust more in Japanese and Korean products than American products over the years, because I've found that those products suit my eczema a lot more than those of American's. Parking can be easy or difficult depending on the time and day you come. It's across the street from Din Tai Fung (let's not talk about parking during lunch and dinner rush hours) and next to JJ Bakery (if you're on a diet, avoid this place because I guarantee you'll walk out of Takashima with all of your makeup and head straight to JJ to stock up on breads...and then feel guilty.) Japanese skincare galore! So many great things to look at but as others have stated, it is extremely overpriced. You're better off going to shibuyala in temple city for your asian skincare needs. As for customer service, yes there was absolutely no greeting upon arrival however I didint hesite asking for help to one of the Chinese sales associate. Most of the products here don't have an English translation label but surprisingly she was willing to recommend several products for my skin concerns. read more

After dining at Din Tai Fung with my friend, we decided to check out the beauty store across the parking lot. The store was super cute and had a ton of selection. The shopgirls were extremely knowledgeable and they looked just like the girls on all of the product packaging. The skincare products my friend and I purchased were expensive, but if they actually work, they will be worth it. Even if they didn't, however, I would still check out Takashima again and try something else. read more

Beautiful cosmetic, haircare, and skincare store for the makeup junkie. (Like a Sephora or Ulta for Japanese & Korean brands). The girls who work here are all very sweet and let you browse around in peace, but are available for any questions you may have. Most products have testers so you can get a feel for the scent and consistency. They stock Shiseido Anessa sunscreen which is far better than any US sunscreen I've ever tried (light, sinks right in, no breakouts). No English wording on any of the packaging but it's not hard figuring out how to use things. read more

You have to be careful with this place, and do your research. They DO rip you off with alot of products, especially cute things that aren't cosmetics. You can buy the same thing online for littarly 1/10th the price!!! Cosmetic variety is outstanding here however, and has more products than other stores. Prices for skincare and makeup are generally the same as other places and online, but they definiately rip you off with the cute Sanrio/San-x products. The staff here was huddled in a group socializing rather than helping people, and they we're very loud. I find their customer service not the greatest. I'll come here to get what I need and get the heck out. I will buy sanrio products elsewhere to avoid their scams! read more

I came here with my wife cause she wanted to buy some shampoo and hair products that she usually buys in Japan but ran out. I figured that this was the right place to go.. As we walked in, she immediately saw the product she uses and a cheerful face begin to display in her face along with prices being a cheaper than japan which was good for me! At the end, if my wife is happy, im happy! The staff is friendly and was very helpful as she had questions about other products! I came here with Asto after dining at Din Tai Fung. It's really cute. It's basically a beauty store, but they specialize in Asian beauty products. Being Taiwanese Asto was in heaven...I was having fun looking around and buying some things, and the staff there was very helpful and polite. This is like any other Japanese cosmetics store. I came in just to pick up those Japanese air fresheners because they smell way better than ones you buy at other places. The employees asked me if I needed help in Chinese but I responded in English since I don't speak that well in Chinese. After I asked for help, I kept looking around for other products. As a white man in his late 20's, I can tell you this store is not oriented towards me. That being said, it's has an interesting selection of Japanese imported products. We couldn't speak in mandarin, so when we asked her to repeat in English (she kept talking about some rewards program), she replied in an extremely rude tone. All we wanted to do was buy mascara! Love this place! It's so cute and filled with tons and tons of Asian beauty products. Its a small space but there's so much stuff you can probabaly get sucked in there for hours.. Really liked this store even though the prices are is bit high but at least I get to see the actual product than guessing the color or scent online. They have literally all kinds of Japanese brands. It took me awhile to look through everything. When you walk in the girls will greet you. They will roam around a little keeping an eye on you but after 30 secs they re gone and to me it was okay. Understandable they re small business and don't like people stealing. They were chit chatting most of the time I was there but since the store is so organized and neat there's not much for them to do. I rather have them chit chatting than them standing there like a robot standing there looking at me. They were helpful when any questions was asked since most of the products are in Japanese. I purchased a DHC Mild cleansing oil and a White rosé hair serum. Love the serum it smells so nice and leaving my hair soft. I will definitely be back next time! read more
