Horrible food, never going back to this place, waste of money!!!!! I actually get grossed out every time I think about the food. Unfortunately, there's no option for "0" stars I thought I'd give the place a try since it was close by, so I ordered Tallarines verdes with steak, to go. I specifically asked the waitress to please make sure the steak wasn't fatty (from experience), to what she knotted ok. When I got home and opened the container the presentation looked very nice but that all went to shits when I tasted the food. The steak was as ALL fat and nerves around the edges and in between, I honestly couldn't find a decent piece, the few pieces that looked ok were tough as leather and strings of fat got caught in between my teeth in every bite. Disgusting! The spaghetti was as gross, it tasted stale, was mushy and overly drenched in the green sauce which was saturated in oil, it didn't taste like pesto at all, who knows what kind of sauce they used. I ended up dumping the food, it wasn't even half decent. I don't mind spending my money in food but when it's poor quality, spoiled, badly cooked and gross you bet I'm gonna be upset! Food is ok after many years eating there, but service definitely is the worst, I order one chicken and we have to wait more than 45 minutes and even people that came after me was serve first,bad service especially for one of the guy's, the girl that works there Paula she is very nice and helpful, but if she is not there these kids that run the business are very amateur and they think people is getting the food for free, people is paying an deserve good service, do not go there if the guys are working because they fell that they are so much in these world and they have bad attitude.. Tiny, hole-in-the-wall Peruvian restaurant with (hands down) the BEST chaufa de pollo in all the land. My wife and I come out of our way to come here all the time for that and her favorite salchipapas dish. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is due to the lack of "class" for a restaurant; what I mean is web when it's just her and me, they bring out one dish at a time instead of both at once. I was on my way to Anaheim and craving some Pollo a la Brasa... so after reading some of my fellow Yelpers I decided to get out of I-5 and go to this restaurant. The restaurant closes at 9 pm., I've arrived at 8:20 pm. and they did not have any Pollo a la Brasa left. I was already seated and checking the menu when I got the news. That was a huge disapointment. Of course, I left without eating anything else. Another thing, 1 person to waiter 7 tables plus cashier. I don't know if I will ever go back to this place and try the food, I understand they don't want to have any food left for next day... but I think a restaurant cannot run out of their main dish. Peruvian craving satisfied! I found this place on Yelp and decided to come here for my Peruvian fix. BF and I came in on a Sunday afternoon around 3:00. The place was pretty empty only 1 other person waiting for his take out order. When we walked in there was no one there to greet us or sit us down, so we sat ourselves. The place is small, hole in the wall type of location, which I don't mind at all. Then an older gentleman came to take our drink order. I already knew I wanted to try their specialty drinks "chichi morada". However, they also had a yellow/orangey drink which we wanted to try as well. He offered us samples of both. They were both very good but I went with the purple drink. We also put it our food order. Here it goes: Lomo Saltado- Rib eye steak chopped in pieces, tomato, grilled onions, pepper over fries with a side of rice. It's not the healthiest choice on the menu but wow were all the calories worth it. The taste was amazing and the lomo was tender. I think what made it even better were the sauces they bring out. My favorite were the orange and green one. Burrito Saltado- Basically everything the lomo saltado plate has but wrapped in a flour tortilla for PERFECTION. I had about 2 bites of this burrito topped with the specialty sauces. It was delicious. Salchi Papa- Fries topped with weiners. I ordered these for my bf because I knew he would like them. He loved them. The service was ok. There was 3 workers; the cook, waiter and cashier. They were all equally nice. The restaurant was a bit hot in temperature but not a big deal. If you're looking for good Peruvian food at a great price them come dine here. read more

Best link in the SF Valley for sure... I still like one other place overall for Peruvian but this place has better ají. The orange (rocotto) one is so good. It adds the necessary spice that the dish needs. The platanos are hit or miss here. The sanguchon is a delicious sandwich with chicken and sweet potato making it so good. The pollo a la brasa is also another great item here. One thing I dislike is that I've seen the preferential treatment that is given to Peruvians. But anyways the food is great here and they've expanded their restaurant size so the larger area allows for bigger groups to be able to come here. read more

My current favorite Peruvian restaurant is Mr. Pollo in West Covina, so I will use that as my 5/5 star exemplar as a basis for comparison to Takatis. I ordered a plate of lomo saltado here, as that is my favorite Peruvian dish. Overall, Takatis is decent, but notably inferior to Mr. Pollo for 2 reasons: The lomo saltado at Takatis is tasty, but it's *MUCH* cheaper at Mr. Pollo (I would reckon that Mr. Pollo also gives you a larger serving as well), and Takatis unfortunately does not have a much-needed self-serve condiment bar with mayo and chimichurri (which Mr. Pollo does). In fact, the staff at Takatis stated they did not have any chimichurri at all to provide me with when I begged them for some. :-( As I live much closer to Mr. Pollo, I would not consider eating at Takatis again unless I happen to be in or near Van Nuys, and decide Peruvian food is what I am craving at the time. read more

I returned from a trip to Peru last month and was craving some ceviche and pollo a la brasa so I decided to try Takatis again. I ordered the Ceviche mixto (Shrimp, octopus, fish) and it was served very similarly to the ceviche in Peru. It had sweet potato, corn, and some roasted nuts. It wasn't as good as the ceviche in Peru, but it was still pretty good. It was similar in that it had the limey/citric flavor. I also ordered the pollo a la brasa, which was decent and fairly priced. I actually prefer pollo a la brasa Western in K-town better. However, if I don't feel like driving all the way to LA for pollo a la brasa, I'll be returning for it here. read more

They are only open until 8 pm M - Th right now, per a handwritten sign on their door. Pretty disappointed to have placed an online order, have my card charged $50.00, and then drive all they way out there only to find out they were closed and hadn't updated their operating hours on the website or yelp. Luckily, the company that processes their online orders called us within about 20 minutes of our placing our order to let us know they would cancel the charge on our card. We've never eaten here, so the one star review has nothing to do with their food. read more

Don't let the bum sleeping in the parking lot deter you from trying this place. It's deceptively contemporary inside with the cool restored wood counter space and cool mining lamps over head. Amazing sanguchon... I've never had anything like it in my life. It was sweet, savory, it had a little crunch to it. It was heaven in my mouth! The chicken in my sanguchon was really moist probably due to the fact that they had a huge rotisserie with chicken spinning around. It was the most delicious merry-go-round I've ever seen. The papa a la Huancaina (potato's with cheese sauce) great appetizer. Must try this place, the service unfortunately it's not the greatest only 2 employees with full house of 10 people waiting to be help and one cook!! But it was worth the time we waited for our food to be serve. They must must update their menu WHY? It's a school metal binder with a clear protector sheet, 10 to 15 pages. Nice clean and very spacious. 3 stars only food was good but the service was not the best. Came for a second visit due to their delicious food, it's unfortunate the lack of customer service this restaurant has, is terrible, restaurant was literally empty and it took hem about an hour to get our food, My BF had to get up and ask how long it was gonna take for our food to be ready. Have I ever tred Peruvian food? No Do I now have a new found love for it? Yes! Sweet lordie, how have I never had pollo a la brasa before? That salty, juicy goodness that oozes from the chicken is too die for. The 1/4 Pollo a la brasa meal with 2 sides ($6.99) is just enough to make you feel satisfied. I went with the yucca fritas & beans (which were both amazing). They have a variety of chili sauces but I thought the flavor of the chicken was amazing just how it was. They have a variety on the menu, but I will work my way through "Peruvian" cuisine the more I dine here. Very minimal seating inside which forces you to awkwardly stand next to the small counter and watch the 6-7 tables like a hawk. They are pretty good about geting people out so someone else can sit which is nice. The small space has the wood fired oven in the back where you can see allllll the chickens being roasted to crunchy goodness. This place makes me laugh, the decor screams wannabe Peruvian gastropub - I'm not hating but it just throws you off a bit - good for picture taking I suppose.The parking lot is shared & small, so it might be hard to find parking. Ordered delivery via Grubhub for their Pollo A La Brasa with side of rice & plantains. The chicken came with 3 salsas that I would classify as a medium heat. It's not burning like Jalapeno, but does a little bit of a lingering spiciness. I don't think it was spicy at all to be honest. All 3 sauces tasted fresh and was quite good. I can't really put my finger on what the ingredients are but they were green, yellow and orange. The chicken was nicely seasoned. I do think that it was a bit too salty, but if you are eating it with rice and one of the salsas then it will not be an issue. The meat was still juicy and not dried out. I can't say that this is better than Costco as they are both different in flavor. But at $19, Costco definitely has the edge at $5. Also, I do think that Costco's rotisserie is more tender than Takatis. The rice tasted like they put butter in it which gave it a nice aroma. The butter was not over the top so I was only able to barely taste it. The plantains was really good though. It wasn't hard like I've had at other places. When you bite into it, the middle is soft and the sugar was not over or under the sweetness factor. Overall, I will order from here again over Lola's as I feel that the chicken here has a better taste and also parking is not an issue here. read more

Just got put on to this jewel of a restaurant in the valley today. This is the spot! I got the pollo saltado which was delicious. The papas weren't over cooked and the green sauce was the perfect addition to the dish. The pollo a la brasa was most certainly a treat. The chicken meat was so juicy, the skin was perfectly golden brown -- and it just had the most amazing flavor. The perfect amount of garlic arises in the entirety of the dish, down to the beans. And the absolute clutch element of the day was the chicha morada! This was theeeeee best purple corn drink I've ever had! When I've had this drink in the past, I usually detected a flavor of artificial sweetener, but not today. This drink was the perfect compliment to my meal. I lost certainly will be back! read more

Had a wonderful dinner here Sunday night with the parents. We casually rode up and grabbed a table by the window. Our host was so friendly and engaging. He shared his recommendations and chatted us up through our meal, I typically want to be left alone but my dad is a Chatty Kathy, so we welcomed it. We each had different dishes and promised to share, but none of us did! Mom had the Tallarines, dad had Pollo a las brasas w Yucca and Plantains (HOUSE SPECIALTY), and I had the Lomo Saltado. Portions were generous and presentation was great. We were brought out 3 sauces, yellow, green and orange. All three were so delicious, the yellow was mildest and the orange was hottest. I recommend you put that sauces on everything, they are that good. If you want an even hotter sauce, there is one you can get by request. Warning, its HOT! We had the chicha morada and the maracuya drinks, both refreshing and unique. Our server brought us a sample of the Peruvian choclo, steamed corn with the LARGEST kernels I've ever seen. I recommend you try it if you like corn, dip the kernels in the sauce- yum! For dessert we were introduced to Lucuma Cheesecake. I said I wasn't going to have any because, well, summer, but once it arrived, I thought I'd just have a taste of this exotic south american fruit...OH MY GOODNESS. This dessert was one of the BEST I have EVER had. No, seriously. It was a super light and airy mousse "cheesecake" that felt like a combination of whipped dulce the leche and a slight taste of tropical fruit. I seriously couldn't stop eating it. At $6.99 a slice, it is pricey, but the next time I need a sweet treat, I'm coming here. We had a great time, the food was great, the service was impressive and the Lucuma Cheesecake will be talked about forever in our family. Prices are higher here than other casual Peruvian spots...dishes are about $15 each, drinks $4 and dessert $7. If you have the budget and want a flavorful meal, Takatis is a great choice! read more

Hello Went here on a weekday for lunch. Takatis had people in here. They have a good menu here. Each food item had a picture and a description. The server was very nice answering the questions I had regarding the food. The food overall was great. We had the Peruvian tamale which was very tasty served with red onions and those were deliciously prepared. I had the Sanguchon and that was delicious. The fries were tiny but very good. They give you three types of sauces and they were all good too. For dessert I had Alfajor and those were good time. The parking lot is small. The prices are reasonable. Why would they take an order if they can not cook and have our food to us in a timely manner. First and last time coming here. Prices are steep for what it is. Takatis is an excellent Peruvian restaurant with many options to choose from. The menu has pictures of all the entrees and I am certain that anyone can find a meal to their liking. I chose the Pollo Saltado, which is a dish with chicken marinated in vinegar, then stir fried w/ red onions, parsley, and tomatoes. It is served with rice & fries. I thoroughly enjoyed this entree. While the pricing is a little on the high side, the portions are fairly large. I recommend giving Takatis a try if you're in the area. read more
