This location is your classic Take 5 around San Antonio. They have friendly service, welcomed with a water, and the vehicle bay was clean. It took awhile to get the service started. I came in for a registration renewal, oil change, and coolant check. The line to get to the bay took a little extra work for an SUV, but it can be done. It is a tight corner location, so keep that in mind for all you large truck drivers. I discounted a star for the line organization and because it took awhile for them to get to my car to update me on what was going on with the wait time. Otherwise, this was a pretty good experience and I will be looking forward to going back to see how my next oil change goes here! read more

As a woman I don't really like going to mechanics by myself. I always worry that they will assume I know nothing about cars and try to do what they can to get the most money out of my purse. This Take 5 did exactly that, without even warning me what they would charge. I went in for an oil change and began doing intake with the person behind the computer (notice my hesitation to call him a gentleman or anything of the sort). While talking he stayed behind the computer. I assumed he was still doing paperwork or whatever was needed. Now for those who do not know, there are different types of oil similar to that of gas. The cheapest version at Take 5 is $51 while the most expensive is $122. While speaking about make and model of my car he abruptly cut me off and said I owed about $140. I asked what he meant as he did not even ask me which option I would like to go with to which he informed me they had already taken the liberty of using the most expensive option possible without a word to me. Now I know my car. It's old, 1999 to be exact. It is by no means a fancy car. I know it does NOT need name brand full synth oil. I also know I have never once encountered this problem at this exact Take 5 anytime my husband was with me. Stopped in with my sis today to get her oil change done, and the team here was beyond amazing! Corey talked us through the process, checked fluids / air filter and wipers. Gave honest info and even showed us the questionable drain plug from the oil pan, and replaced it! He even saw that I was in inform and applied a military discount. Commercials make them sound efficient... Took an hour to get in and out of this place, guy started off by saying there was only two of them to be patient. Which I was, but had I known what typically takes 5-10minutes was going to be an hour I would have left instead of getting trapped in the bay with cars stacked behind me. Additionally, I waited so long that my battery died, and no my stereo wasn't on, I was sweating in the heat like everyone else, I carry jumper cables but neither employee had a vehicle to assist with getting my battery jumped started? Employees solution, put my truck in neutral and roll me out of the bay. Told me to call someone or there was an AutoZone nearby. Employees seemed knowledgeable, but more concerned with upselling various products than changing oil, which was the only reason I was there. All to say, if you're not in a rush and looking for transmission flush, air filter replacement, windshield wipers replacement etc. then this could be a good place. I went there because I needed a quick oil change, like their commercials advertised. A thought, have a lane for expedited services "Oil & Filter Change" only and a lane for check all my stuff? To each is own, this was my experience and didn't my expedited expectations. read more

Since Covid,I've been taking my cars here for oil change, tire check and fill, car inspection and topping off fluids in between oil changes. They are always very welcoming and I take my dog with me so I like that we can stay in the car. They've started changing European cars so that's a plus for me and they always welcome us with a water bottle on hot days. Price is higher than average but you're paying for the convenience. Topping off fluids in between oil changes and getting tires to their pressure, all for free, is a win for me! Plus they provide a 10% military discount. Keep up the great work guys! read more

I took my car for an oil change and was upsold to buy air and cabin filters which was fine but the price ticket ($165) was a little shocking. Not nearly as shocking as my car DYING on the highway from a failed transmission days later! At just 51,000 miles it didn't make sense why it konked out so suddenly--UNTIL the Subaru tech said that "someone" had drained all the differential fluid out which had naturally caused the transmission to fail. Now, despite pages of documentation to support my claim, Take 5 refuses to reimburse me ANYTHING for KILLING MY CAR!! Worst decision of my year was to take my car to these idiots. DO NOT GO HERE (1227 Commercial). This location broke my air sensor and is refusing responsibility. You literally can not drive your car with out it. I came in got the oil change and my car dies .4 miles away from the location. The Store Manager had to come out to assist me and we could not get it started, then he peers into my vacuum chamber and discovers broken pieces of my sensor inside which is absolutely the issue...BECAUSE HE SAID SO! He told me Id have to file a claim, but when you go through their Terrible 3rd party customer service, they denied it without even a statement from me. This happened on 4/13/24, and not the manager or district manager called me to follow up, I had to track down my own claim order (today 4/22) to find out that it was denied. I am asking any Veterans or regular residents to Not go to this location. The very least they could have done is follow up after they absolutely stranded me due to negligence and incompetence read more

I gave thme my credit card and when they boruhgt bill, I asked if they forgot the military discount. They have the information in their computer form many past visits. The service writer asked manager and then he told me manager said they ca=ould not do naything aobut it after they ran card. I have never run across a vender who could not cancel or refund a charge and then run the correct amount. read more

While visiting the Take 5 Oil #0192 located at 1227 Commercial Ave, San Antonio Texas - an employee by the name of "B-Rad" (that is how it appeared on his uniform, however I think his name is Christopher as that name was on my invoice), was unapologetically demeaning and ignorant to other workers who were not of his same race/ethnicity. During my visit "B-Rad" used hand gestures to mock and explain things to a hispanic male - to this same male he also spoken as if he didn't understand English and used Spanish words intermittently. This male, whom did not have a name tag, was frustrated and embarrassed by the lack of respect "B-Rad" had for him. "B-Rad" misspoke to this hispanic male and told him 5 quarts when asked "how many quarts" and he yelled it to him in a slow paced tone to emphasize his seniority and then joking said "I mean 6 - you got me all confused." His degrading behavior didn't stop with this male but then turned to Tavaris (an African American male) - who along with the hispanic male - were the ONLY 2 working at the time when the bay had 2 cars and at least 2 in line. He spoke negatively to him and refused to help him. Tavaris was changing the oil, oil filters, and etc between my car and another while "B-Rad" walked around eating, on his phone, and talking to Nathaniel (who did not work on my car but is on my invoice). A piece fell while he, Tavaris, was replacing my oil filter and rather than "B-Rad" helping he told Taveris to do it while he continued to snack. At one point "Nathaniel" peaked over to my car while "B-Rad", the hispanic male, and Tavaris were all looking under the hood. It made me feel as though something wrong happened. Nathaniel also had some words for Tavaris after "B-Rad" went into the shop and said something to him. Throughout the entire visit "B-Rad" was demeaning, derogatory, unprofessional and completely out of line to talk to anyone that way. I had a 3 year old autistic child in my car or I would have said something then and there - I also didn't want to run the risk of my car being mishandled by "B-Rad". I will not be returning to any take five. I also am expecting a call from a supervisor higher than any of the names that are listed in this complaint. In addition, my invoice states I had washer fluid added - this did not happen, wiper blades - those were not checked, windshield cleaned - nope, and my tires checked - nope, I can only imagine what else "B-Rad" is lying about. I called the corporate level 5+ times before I got a call back. Apparently if you have a hearing disability employees are allowed to talk to you as they please because they are of higher authority. I was told that the gentleman who was Hispanic was hard of hearing and this is why the employee engaged the way he did. This is pure ignorance and if the employee wants to file discrimination I'll gladly help his case. read more

Why do businesses advertise a closing time and then close earlier? That was my experience here. I got to this location with 15 minutes to spare only to find the entrance blocked off. I would recommend Take 5 Oil Change to anyone a including my family. They are the best at professionalisms, and getting the job done efficiently. I serviced my vehicle with piece of mind because unlike other oil change places you are in your vehicle when the job gets done. And for me being able to actually see my air filter being swapped out makes me feel good. I got royal purple oil motor oil which is something I use and not just settling for what the dealer supplies is awesome. They even helped me with resetting my oil change percent on my vehicle dash.
