It was very quick for an oil change. I love how I can stay in my car. It wasn't exactly 10 mins but it was more like close to 20 mins, still much faster than a dealership. Since my suv took more than the 5 quarts, I got an upcharge which wasn't disclosed to me until I had to pay. I used a coupon online and saved $25 but it was still expensive. Formal Complaint Regarding Incomplete Service at Take 5 Oil Change Location Dear Take 5 Oil Change Management, I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding the service I received at your 8740 W Waters Ave, Tampa, Fl location. I have always appreciated the thorough and attentive service at Take 5 Oil Change, which is why this recent experience was so surprising and disappointing. During my visit, several standard procedures were not performed. My fluids and tires were not checked, and my windshield was not cleaned--services I have come to expect as part of your regular oil change process. When I noticed that my windshield washer fluid had not been checked, I had to specifically request it, at which point the technician added it. I left the location in disbelief, as this is not the level of service I am accustomed to at Take 5. Unfortunately, due to this experience, I do not plan to return to this location. 15 minute oil change for $25. Do you get the Valpak? Yes, I know most people just toss it automatically. I actually take some pleasure in looking through all the coupons before I toss it. There is one coupon I always keep - it's from America's Oil Express. Usually there is a coupon for anywhere from $8 - $10 off a standard oil change and I hang on to it until my car tells me I need an oil change. Without the coupon a standard oil change would be $35, so with my $10 off I paid $25. Since my initial review, I've been back a couple times and it has always taken them less than 30 minutes to change my oil. This last time it took 15 minutes. I'm in their system so I just give them my first name, hand over my keys and then go in their waiting room to wait. Yes, it weirds me out that I don't even have to give them my last name. You would think there are more than one Christina in the system, but I guess they match my first name and vehicle, because when they call me up they always have my full name autopopulated! For $25, I don't care that the waiting room is sparse. They don't even have internet, so bring something to do. They do have a nice array of magazines, I didn't check to see if they were recent since I brought the newspaper to read. I love how I get a free car wash from Flippers. Yes, normally the car wash is only $4, but hey, that's still a free $4. I can usually tell when it's time for an oil change because my car looks like it needs to be washed. 10 minute oil changes. Really! I've been coming here for 3 years or so, and I've only waited more than 10 minutes once. It was a busy day and my car was 5th in line, so it was understandable. Things to know about America's Oil Change is that there is ALWAYS a coupon in the weekly coupon mailer. The coupon is for $10 off. Not clipping this coupon is like throwing money away, and at $10 per each visit over the last 3 years, it's saved me roughly $80. Also, when you get your car serviced here, they give you a code for a free basic carwash down the street at Flippers, which happens to be one of the best washes in town. Best time to go is during the week in the mornings, before lunch time. The one time I had to wait was on a Saturday. Won't make that mistake again. =) read more

Few things about me I suck at getting my car looked at until it makes a noise or a light comes on. One of my great friends knows I'm like this so he told asked if he could look at my car to check my oil. I'm not one to not accept a free look at my car. Well he said my oil was low and I needed an oil change. I have to be honest America's Oil Express wasn't my first choice. I actually went out with the internet to just find someway on my side of the road. After 3 stops no one could get me in today. So I just happened to stumble on the 10 minute oil change sign. The interior is "cute" (for car service place). They've got car deodorizers, various greeting cards, candy, chips, random gifts, sunglasses and car accessories for sale. The waiting room is small but they've only got 2 bays to actually service cars so you may want to leave the kids at home this place if packed may lead to frustration. The staff is friendly they try to get you out in hurry. They staff walks with a purpose so you know their objective is to get the job done effectively and efficiently. I had to wait a little longer than expected but there were 2 cars already in the bays and one waiting when I got here. I didn't time my oil change so I don't know if it took 10 minutes but I was in and out in about 35 minutes. Now that I know they're here this may be my spot for oil changes moving forward. A small-ish oil change place that knows me by name. I've been getting my oil changed here since I moved to Tampa 6 1/2 years ago. Every time I come the manager always asks me how my car is still running and when I'm getting a new one. A couple years ago, the scews on my air filter became stripped and the lid would no longer come off. My mechanic suggested it might because every time I got my oil changed, they opened it up to check the filter and over time, stripped the screws. I brought my car to America's Oil Express and explained the situation and they replaced my air filter housing at no charge!! I also love that you can usually find coupons online or in the val pak we get in the mail. AND when you get a full service oil change here, they'll give you a code for a free basic car wash at Flippers car wash down the street. read more

Fast Service and Free Car Wash code! ------ Change oil indication came on in my car and this was my first time looking for this service in Tampa area. So I went to Yelp and found this business and Im glad I took the advice from my fellow Yelpers! The location is easy to access, its on the corner and has two entrances. Its impeccably clean on the inside I didnt notice anything out of place. It has a retro vibe inside with a neon sign with the white walls and red accents. I parked and walked inside to ask if they had time to service my car and after waiting a while they let me know of course and that i needed to pull my car around. Next time, I will just pull my car up as I believe that is what most people do and I was just overly concerned about politeness. Brought it around and they drove it into place and I was told to wait inside. I really like the fact that you can see your car as its being serviced. The wall is glass window so you can see exactly whats happening. 3 guys promptly went after the oil change and filters getting it done in the said 10 minutes. I was pleased to see one of them garbing a manual to check something and that they had done the extra research for my vehicle. One was vacuuming the drivers seat one was at the hood getting a filter and the other in the passenger side getting another filter. I was happy they checked the inside filter because it was so so dirty and needed to be replaced. I had no idea it was there. My only head turning question about this otherwise pleasant experience was the sticker that was left in my car for my next change was set for only 3,000 more miles. I was under the impression it was 5,000 miles or 6 months whatever comes first... I wish I would have asked about that to clear it up on the spot, but I had somewhere to be. I had great customer service from one gentleman. He was very thorough in answering my questions and explaining it to me. Price was not too bad. Next time I will try and find a coupon as someone else mentioned, and I wont have to replace filters as I just did. I went in on a Saturday and even though there were cars they were quick. As I'm new to the neighborhood this is my first time here and I'm pleased with the service. I saw that they always try to sell any potential repairs but it seemed all warranted. In my case they did not recommend any service. Overall a great experience. I recently got a BMW '04 Z4 and needed an oil change which at the local dealership, it cost about $160 and about 2-4 hours scheduled appt. and learn that walmart doesnt work on my car (I'm gonna miss those $40 oil changes.) Found a coupon(you know us Asians, always gotta have a coupon) for $13 off for a full synthetic oil change. which is $55? and I upgraded my oil from their Kernel to the Mobil 1 which is $20 bucks extra. Plus my car takes 7 quarts so they changed me an extra $8 bucks for that. 55+20+8=83-13(coupon)=70+taxes=$75 for my oil change! Plus they did it in 25 minutes during lunch time and yeah, free car wash at Flippers which is a $4 dollar basic wash. The up sell part....uh oh.... So Advanced Auto Parts typically has these 10 off 25 deals so I decided to replace the basics before getting up sold on additional services/filters. I wanted to test them out and see if they would try to sell me these services. 1 by 1 i saw the people ahead of me getting up sold on things since the technicians give you a visual comparison of what yours looks like and what it should look like which people could have done themselves (I understand since you're there you may as well get it done)....you're being charged another $20 bucks for something that cost $4 bucks to do yourself in 30 seconds. My turn....yup no up sell additional services...WHAT?!?! Overall the guy who greeted me to the guy who checked me out were super friendly! I used to be a loyal customer for the last 2 years. This is one of those places where something always goes wrong, but its usually minor. Like their courtesy carwash code machine breaking down, or credit card machine down. Or no coffee. Or bathroom out of service. But now, the SH** hit the fan. I got very terrible service on a saturday at 10am, it was fairly busy as usual with about 10 cars there. So check this out (get some popcorn). This place, they have 2 service bays for changing oil etc. So what happened to me was that my car was 3rd in line and I waited almost 2 hours for them to finish the 1st car (which was a large hummer h3). This hummer driver must of fallen for their sales tactics galore cause he ended up getting all the fluids replaced like coolant, transmission. There were 4 people working on this 1 f****** hummer! So after an hour of waiting, the next bay started to move much quicker. So much quicker that in fact, lots of cars that got there WAY after me were already being serviced! But i was patient for another hour up until the point where I had enough. I left the waiting area ANGRY, I complained saying that it's not right that I got here before all those other cars and they didnt f****** rotate me into the next bay. I don't recommend them. They have no sense of customer service, they use "we apologize for that sir". But in truth, sorry doesnt fix anything. read more

I went to get an oil change about 2 weeks ago here ,I paid almost 60 dollars for the oil change to end up almost losing my car.Yesterday while on the expressway I heard a metal clunk come from my car and onto the road.When I got to my house there was smoke coming from my car, and all of the engine oil spilled out onto the parking lot.The people here don't do things properly, they left the engine oil plug loose and it finally fell out yesterday.I would not recommend this place for an oil change ,as their negligence almost cost me my car.Also that full service checklist is false,because my car is missing the washer fluid tank and on the checklist it said it was filled.They just put that on there to make you think they did a full inspection,but it's not true. read more

SUMMARY: Go somewhere else! MULTIPLE ISSUES...Unprofessional...Shady practices -- Substituted 5w-20 for 0w-20 that I SPECIFICALLY requested (mentioned at least 4 times), WITHOUT asking me or notifying me...until I caught them in the act! FULL STORY: I pulled up said I wanted an "0w-20 oil change." He asked me "0w-20...do you want synthetic?" (0w-20 only comes as synthetic) I chuckled to myself and said "yes...0w-20, full synthetic." (He then started screaming to another employee about a car that drove by, in a pretty unprofessional manner...) I should've gotten back in my car and drove off, but I figured it isn't that difficult to change oil in a car. I'll let all this slide so far. Maybe he's new. I requested a total price including all taxes and fees before starting the job. I let him know that my car specifies 0w-20 (3rd time mentioned so far) and that it requires 6.7qts of oil (instead of the standard 5qts, knowing it will be extra). He tried to give me ballpark prices as I continually asked for an exact TOTAL price, until another employee walked up and said he would make a ticket to get an exact price. I specified again to the new employee "0w-20--full synthetic, it takes 6.7qts" (4th time mentioned). I was given a verbal total price by the manager, and I agreed. I watched them through the glass as they started to do the work. As they poured in the new oil, I noticed on the bottle "5w-20." I went outside and asked why they were putting in 5w-20, as I specifically said I wanted 0w-20 (It also specifies 0w-20 right on the oil cap). The manager said "It really doesn't make a difference." I said "I'm aware of 0w-20 vs 5w-20, however that's NOT what I specifically asked for." He asked the other employees if I specifically asked for 0w-20. One employee replied, "Yes, but we don't have 0w-20." I was never asked, nor informed of the substitution before pouring the oil into my car. The manager then said "Well, what do you want me to about it now?" Then continued excuses/attempts of justifying themselves. Aggravated, I told them to finish the job with 5w-20 b/c I can't drive my car without oil. To be fair... it was done quickly. He then asked "Do you want me to put 0w-20 or 5w-20 on the invoice?" Really?? I told him I didn't want a FAKE invoice, give me one that reflects the real work performed. He did end up giving me a discount on the service, however it doesn't stop there. To top it all off, they advertise a free wash at a local car wash down the street. He told me he was "out of codes," to call in a few days for one. I won't need the code since I had to go home and immediately wash my car due to a considerable amount of grease left on the car (smeared from a quick attempt of wiping the car down at the end). I also noticed two valve stem caps missing (they were there a few days earlier when I checked the air myself). I tried to keep this as facts... you make your own decisions. They attempted to sell an additional service to each customer in the lobby after their of oil change so just keep that in mind. They promote a 10 min oil change and I was in and out in about 45-50 min on a Saturday in the middle of the day so that's pretty good. However they told me it would take 25 min or less. Overall an ok place to get a quick oil change or wiper blades but that's about it. read more

I've been coming here for the last few years off and on. Last week will be my last visit. Altho they have been friendly every visit, they seem to keep skipping services like greasing and checking fluids. I mentioned that the last two times I was here (about 4months apart) they neglected to grease my fittings. I was told they ran out if grease and to come back in a week. I Came back two weeks later and still nothing. I greased my own fittings then, and seems i will have to grease my own fittings yet again. As much as service people dislike it, i was outside on a phone call watching them completely ignore checking my trans fluid and all other levels. I mentioned how my trans dipstick sticks slightly, didn't even touch it from what i noticed. They did however vacuum the front floor boards. When I went in to pay the service tech didn't give me a car wash code (i usually get one for the full service). Then felt the need to talk about his personal issues to me. I felt sorry to hear about his pending divorce. Not the time or place to mention your wife is playing bedroom mind games with you.... Sorry, it's just not the place for it. I don't even know you like that to even talk about your bedroom issues. Just saying. So, getting home I had to check my own fluids under the hood, and have yet to crawl under my truck to check the rear diff. I know I should have mentioned it then and there, but felt i shouldn't have had to remind them how to do their jobs. So from now on i will just do it myself and save the $5 even with the $10 off coupon. $24 as opposed to me buying my own oil and filter for $19. EDIT** I dug out my receipt, and found the code written on it. It was handed to me folded and he never mentioned the wash code to me. I keep forgetting they give you a code. I took my car here for an oil change on a Saturday. Monday morning I took my car to the dealership for recall work. Before I arrived at the dealership, my wife calls and said there is black oil below your car in the garage. I checked with the dealership, they made notes that the oil was indeed black and I took pictures of the black oil on the dip stick. When I presented this evidence to them, the response was "my manager is not here an I can't give you a refund." I pushed the matter and talked to the manager on the phone, he said they have to fill out a report and corporate will issue a refund. Five weeks later, I went in to check on the status of the refund and they said the refund was denied because they show me a video of my oil change. They did not, they showed me a video that showed an air filter being put in the car. I asked to see the part where they took out the oil filter and they could not provide that as it was being done by a guy who was under the car. I laid out the facts and they said they could give me a free future oil change (indirectly admitting guilt), but no refund. By the way, I had to wait 35 minutes on the second visit to speak to the manager. Our conversation was less than two minutes. I would not want a FREE oil change at this location. This was the absolutely worst customer service I have had at any business of any kind. They took payment and did not do the work or refund my money. Again, I showed proof from the dealership and photos that the work wasn't done properly if at all. read more

My reason for two stars is, simply, because twice I had optional/extra services during a regular oil change and both times those services were done either incorrectly or incompletely. First: the employee was nice enough to let me know that my tail light was out and offered to replace it, but apparently the replacement was done incorrectly. I had to replace the re-plug the bulb later when it went out again. Second: During a different visit for an oil change, I had then install new windshield wipers, only for one of them to fall off mid-ride - in a rain storm. Don't know where to start. This is one of the best oil change places around. They are fast! I was welcomed when I first pulled up and told them what I wanted. They didn't try to sell me on anything else. The waiting room is nice and they have glass windows so you can watch your car get worked on. They hopped right to it! One person checking my air pressure, the next cleaning my Windows. I'm decently mechanic savvy so when they brought in my cabin air filter I could definitely tell it was time for a change. They offered me $10 off my oil change if I bought the filter. I said hell yeah! Oil change came with a free car wash as well. Then as I was getting ready to leave they noticed a tail light out. $9 later I was good to go! Will be a repeat customer. This is how a business should be ran! read more

I went in for a quick oil change and came out with oil change, a repaired splash guard, and a coupon for a free car wash. The service was amazing and the staff friendly. I had no issues when speaking to anyone about my car and they didn't try to sell me any unnecessary services. My splash guard was also damaged and they fixed that with no extra charge to me. I had such a great experience with them that I highly recommend them to anybody who needs an oil change. As a young female college student it was nice to go into a place like this that has a staff that does not try to take advantage of you.
